The 14 Tips and Tricks:
1. Open your business before you go in. By opening it on your home lot before traveling if (even if you do it 5 game minutes after) you will arrive at a restaurant that has customers already seated and staff already working, as opposed to watching them take an hour to settle in.
2. The Patient Patrons perk is one of the best perks to pickup early. It's cheap and it'll mean your customers are more patient and more easily impressed when food comes faster. It's a game changer.
3. Decor. Decor. More Decor. Add lots of artwork and décor as it's a very easy way to score extra points with your customers.
4. Don't be afraid to adjust your chef's cooking speed to fast once their skill level is high enough. You don't have to be cooking excellent quality food, you can still get a 5 star restaurant with normal quality, but poor quality will seriously affect your business and make people unhappy about both the food and often the price they pay as well.
Once your chefs are about level 8 in the cooking skill they will for the most part able to make even the most difficult rated dishes at normal quality when cooking quickly. Your customers will also take note of the food coming out quicker which will make them happy and help boost their star rating. You can also offset the loss of quality from cooking speed by increasing the food quality once you purchase the Ingredient Quality Options perk.
5. When choosing what size tables to have, I found that a big portion of your customers will comes in groups of two and three, so keep that in mind when figuring out your layout and setup tables accordingly.
6. Aim to welcome and check on every table that arrives to really boost your perk points by 25 per interaction, which will help you save up for rewards that will help you earn more.
7. The curious customers perk enables you to suggest dishes to guests who have a question mark. This interaction will give perk points, so getting and actively using this will mean it pays itself back in the long run.
8. Don't be afraid to go for that 300% mark up, provided you have good service and at least normal quality food. The high markup won't stop you from impressing your customers if you're competent in other areas and it will seriously help bring in the money.
9. Pay special attention to critics, because their star rating will be weighted much more heavily than you average customer. It's a good idea to offer them free food to ensure they rate you highly.
10. Purchasing both Ingredient discount perks will help lower your running costs. Buying the fast eaters perk will increase your customer turnover, and well funded foodies will mean customers order more expensive menu items. All of these combined will help you earn significantly more money in your business.
11. Aim to keep your staff satisfied or at least at a neutral level so they don't randomly quit. Level 5 wages will make them always very satisfied, but you can generally have a maxed-skill employee at neutral satisfaction on a level 4 wage.
12. No matter what themed restaurant you have, try to have some expensive items on the menu. It's very difficult to financially support high-quality staff when only selling cheaper menu items. Alternatively consider letting staff go once they get too qualified to hire cheaper alternatives if their skills aren't needed.
13. When opening and running your business purely from home, the time of day does matter. Opening my successful business from home during the late night to early morning, I found I barely scraped by making money. Where as it was highly profitably when opened during the daytime.
14. The tidy tippers perk should be left until last. It works by increasing the sale price of items you sell by a percentage. While it can be purchased repeatedly, it costs 2000 perk points and only increases sale price by somewhere between 1 and 2 percent. A handy tip is that when you adjust your menu you'll have the base prices, but when you suggest a dish using the curious customers perk you will see the price including the mark up from the tidy tippers perk. While quite weak as a perk alone it becomes worth it after a few stacks.

My staff just stand around the restaurant doing nothing and the chefs take too damn long to cook my damn host is being rude to the customers and not only that but I have to always be there to welcome them so they get the owner satisfaction boost. Pathetic.

Things I'd love to see in Dine Out.
1.) Longer hours of operation without the workers getting tired. I'd love to have longer restaurant gameplay.
2.) A gradual closing process. I hate how the restaurant just shuts down and customers don't get to finish their meals and workers don't clean up the mess for closing
3.) The glitch in the workers when you accidentally remove a requirement to build the restaurant. When you do that the workers are all removed and you'd have to re hire sims, re do their training, experience & pay. Super frustrating having to constantly start over!

5.) More CHEFS and HOSTS!!!!
There is a gradual closing process! Click the host table/thing and choose “disallow new customers” a bit before closing :)
It’d be dope if you can also be a chef for your own restaurant

Well, did you know hours in game is minutes in real life so you’re basically want them to work more than 8 hours a day?
Also more menu items to add cause its so limited to just 30 😭

Totally agree! I love playing with restaurants so much but my main annoyance is that I can't make a breakfast bar that sells cheapish breakfast food without needing to get rid of staff as they get too good, and it's so hard to make money without expensive items on the menu... If they just made it so cheaper-style restaurants could be viable I would love that so much! ... Sorry for the mini passionate rant
@@PeteyPlaysIt Yesterday i tried having a restaurant on a very large lot , and the idea was to have a very formal upstairs indoor area, and the outside i had an area with lots of lights , surrounded by a pond. And then i put chefs stations, waiter and host stations on both 'sides' of the restaurant. And as you can imagine, CHAOS ensued. Chefs constantly switching between stations, waiters running up and down, hosts taking new guests to the furthest table. Maaaaaan i just wanted to play restaurants. And it sucks cause i love restaurant style games. If only this worked a lil better. And how damn hard can it be for the game developers to just to something... anything..
@@nikitabrits5331 This sounds like such a beautiful restaurant concept and idea, and such a disaster of an execution simply because the way the restaurants work... I mean the silver lining is that you describing the chaos made me laugh, but gosh I can only imagine how frustrating that would have been! They should definitely have play tested this kind of setting though!! I'm annoyed that they didn't...
@@PeteyPlaysIt well you just tend at the bar. usually, a full shift tending at the bar grants more money than the restaurant itself. You can even hire a random sim to tend at the bar and her the profits from it.
@@PeteyPlaysIt same. Fam built a crazy nice three (four if you count basement, lol I forgot) level restaurant with two bars and dance floor /dj on the second floor. Customers were sat all over the world-it was nuts. I really did like the place though and decided to remove the stairs on the first floor to make it cozier w/o demo work-solved with your two table instead of large one too. I left the lower level and it works nicely with the pool keeping customers happy. I was even surprised to see that my waitresses tended bar (found that I could too instead of hiring someone).
Once it gets high up there in ratings going to put the stairs back in & see if they like the DJ/ dance floor or if it’s a nuisance.
Finding it a bit annoying that I can’t immediately prioritize food or offer things to any customer I see getting antsy especially celebs now that I added get famous. Is that just me? Also if you happen to know: Can your restaurant throw a holiday party like New Year’s Eve? This evening I tried to fulfill NYE requirements while running the restaurant & it worked somewhat.

Yeah, it’s annoying when I’m eating, I can’t get more food because the waiters/waitresses won’t clean up the plates! I’ve only seen them do it once!
The good Thing on Sims is, you can Crack the DLCs even If you have the original Game from Origin

I just started playing dine out this week, so far so good, the only bug I’ve seen is waiters sometimes leave dirty dishes on the tables instead of taking them to the station or putting them in the dishwasher and my sim has had to step in and bus the dishes while welcoming new customers, but having worked in real life food service that seems legit to me, when you get a lunch or a dinner rush, it’s all hands on deck and the dishes can pile up fast. I have not been tearing my hair out or experiencing severe problems

Just watched your video. I opened the store drop home but when I then went to check. The chefs were outside and then no customers would sit for me lol not sure what happened.

at the beginning, all went just fine. but after quite sometime, instead of taking seats, the customers just talk to each other after entering the restaurant. i've followed the requirements (like min. dining spots and stuff), welcome the customer and yet they still talk, not taking any seats. is this my mistake or some minor bug?
Sadly Dine Out is a rather buggy game pack. I would try restarting the game, and if that doesn't work I would try moving around the host station to different spots. Sorry I can't be more help!

Is there any Tip to Run a Restaurant from Home? Everytime I do this, I won't get customers and the Profit is Not even 10% of that what I get when I visit the Restaurant myself. I also got every perk but this didn't fix anything
any response helps, so i just reecently got dine out pack right and i started to place lots and everything bc i really don't know how to build anything for shit but when i place my build down from the gallery it tells me to use the bbc move objects cheats and i tried doing it and moving random items but my resturant is still like fucked up and i can't figure out how to make it accesible for sims to eat i downloaded McDonalds, i just really need help iv'e tried googling it but that doesn't really work and i have no idea what happened to the premade resturant i really just need help on how my resturants will work

Hi i had the same problem and this is a bug. The only way i found to fix this is with cheating. You can reset for example the cook. After that he walks in the restaurant and do his work. But this problem show up everytime and day ingame and i can't let the restaurant alone...
they really need to make more worker slots 2 cooks and 1 host aint gonna cut it i hope someone makes a mod
How do you train your employees ? I’m playing on PS4
So I'm on PC but I think it would be the same! When you're open and your employee is working, click on them and select 'Manage' and then 'Pay for training' and then select what level of training (it's usually based on their skill levels). They actually go to training when you close so you don't actually train them so to speak, and the main thing you'll notice is their skills will get a boost when they finish work next.
Does anyone know how I can get staff?? Can I select random ones or do I have to know people before hiring them? Or do they spawn randomly?
when you’re at your restaurant you click the manage button and you can pick unplayed sims to be employees

I hust bought the pack and i have a feeling its broken just by looking at the comments and my experience 😂 which is really annoying but when i open the restaurant my chef wont start cooking. They just stand outside the whole time
Mod not allowing me to pick ANY sim i want. Also, when i finally settle for 2nd or 3rd choice, the store has been opened for 8hrs already, and they haven't show up for work. wth
How long can you keep the restaurant open?
my problem is that my host won't seat all the customers, just maybe 2 or 3 per day but everyone else just crowd around the host podium and he just stands there doing nothing. The customers eventually leave. I trained him to max and paid him well. there is nothing I can do. I cannot assign him tasks. Scolding and praising doesn't do anything. He just seats them whenever he feels like. I am so disappointed bc I really want to own family run business but as a player, I was extremely limited what I can do help run the business. Even with control any sim mod, when took control of the host, I still couldn't seat people. I eventually sold the restaurant because I wasn't making any money due to costumers leaving.

This comment made me laugh a little... sims are so weird. Sadly I don't think so, sorry, but they could be exercising due to their traits (e.g. active).
You can use mc tuner from mccc if you play on pc, it can disable any annoying autonomous activity
I need some help. Why can’t I hire a waiter and host? I’m only able to hire a chef. The perks are locked
When you go to hire sims there are three tabs/buttons in the interface where you switch between hiring chefs, waiters and hosts. So look for those little buttons and you should be able to swap to hiring the other types of workers. I hope that helped!

Dine Out is a pretty buggy pack... I would try restarting. Make sure you have the chef station and the right objects on the lot. After if it's still not working I would fire and rehire (I know that would suck) and if it's still not working try a different restaurant lot.
I bought a restaurant and hired employees but none of the employees showed up. It was open and there were customers.

Kind of. you can make a retail store that sells food but it's very different from running a restaurant. so like yes and no lol. running a retail store people will buy dishes but they won't dine.
Imagine hiring gordon ramsay to praise if the restaurant is good, but aired a kitchen nightmare episode if the restaurant perform badly.
How do I serve food to a table
You chefs should automatically cook food and waiters automatically serve it as long as they're hired :).

I don't know how to increase my income. I give more money on ingredients and the income is low even if I have a 5 star restaurant. Any advice?
I would look at investing in perks that directly reduce costs such as the ingredient discounts. I would also try and sell some more expensive foods as they'll make more profit per customer. Also make sure you have enough tables to seat everyone, and consider getting the fast eaters perk if you have people waiting.

Can you help me ?My employees and my sim can't throw away dishes. I deleted and replaced both waiting stations placed traahcans inside and outside.
That is so strange and it sounds a bit like a bug. Something you could try is the 1200 simoleon trash can.. it kind of completely gets rid of rubbish so you don't even have to bring it to the bigger bin. I think you would be able to drag dishes into it to get rid of them as a workaround.
I would also try deleting and re buying the objects and restarting your game.

What's the use of "chef's hat"??
It just unlocks a chef's hat in create a sim, so it's cute and fun, but doesn't do much for your restaurant.

I know i'm very late on this but for some reason my host will just stand around and make phone calls but will never greet the customers what do I do i kinda regret getting the pack.
Sadly the pack is rather buggy :(. The sims team really need to fix it. I would try restarting and if that doesn't work then moving the host station to different spots. I'm sorry that I can't be more help!

It sounds like you have a retail store and a restaurant in one? The only thing for them to buy should be food and drinks
