Cool cam, I want to try it. I would recommend you lower the cameras angle a bit, ideally you don't want more than 1/3rd of the screen to be taken up by sky as that can mess with the exposure and give you poorer video quality.
I did a review of this camera as well on my channel, except it was the N2 standard not PRO, love the pro version which has IR inside, mine is missing that.
Highly highly recommend purchasing the gps add-on for this, it replaces the standard windshield mount and injects gps data into the video clips (speed, direction, mapping of route, g-forces, etc). That addon is only like $20-$30 and adds extremely valuable additional data to what otherwise is just video
Not sure GPS is a good idea. If you are a few miles over speed limit and get into an accident ("not your fault"), if it goes to court opposition lawyer will love that info.
That's pretty narrow-minded, penny wise, pound foolish thinking. Speed would likely have no effect unless you're well above the speed limit. IF you're worried about it, edit it out. Most video editing software will allow you to crop the image. Obey the law and this video has the potential to save your ass in that same court situation. You likely won't even go to court if the video shows an accident was not your fault.

RideShare Tips - curious - does the 'dual' mode in 1080 P result in a VERY BLUE tinted video..... where the 'blacks' are magenta and the sky and other white images are unnaturally blue? I see this in other UA-cam videos as being an 'issue.' Thanks for your thoughts.
I’m not sure if you ever figured this out, but the video is VERY clear and records amazingly. It records and looks exactly like what you see with your eyes during the day and at night. Also, at night it has the infrared so, even if it is pitch black and your car is off with no lights, you can still see everyone on the video in the car or on the outside of the car.
does this cam have the capability to playback through my phone?

Hit one of the four buttons on the bottom of the device while its recording. I forget which one it is, but its one of the four. One turns the mic on and off, the other turns the screen on and off, and the one changes the night vision from on/off/auto
Nighttime recordings will always be B/W. The alternative is for the image to be too dark to see. Are daytime recordings also B/W?
RideShare Tips, Would a Lexar Professional 1800x 64GB UHS-II microSDXC be a good SD Card to use for the VanTrue N2 Pro Dash Cam? Thank you for your help.
They recommend Samsung Evo cards, but I use a Kingston that was $10 less than the Samsung and it works fine. Any brand-name class 10 card should really be fine. Just avoid the no-name cheap chinese chit ones. I do suggest bigger than 64GB. He says 32GB is enough in his video and I started out with a 64GB, but I ended each night with only the last 5 or 6 hours of driving, so I went to a 256GB.
Wow, that is smaller than I expected, which is great. Does it hide pretty well in front of the rearview mirror? Also, how do you hide the cords?
It hides pretty well, I forget its up there most of the time. I ran the cable through the ceilings headliner. You can tuck it in pretty easily with a screwdriver or credit card

Question. I noticed the camera was powered on w/o the USB power cable connected to it. Were you using the built-in battery? It looks like you may be using the hardwire option? Does the hardwire option allow you to supply the power to the camera through the suction cup base mount? I will be connecting and disconnecting constantly, so I'd rather not hassle with the cable that I have to plug in and out. Thanks
Hansang Bae you can plug the USB into the camera directly, or into the suction cup mount. I dont see the point in plugging it in directly to the camera. Once you slide the camera into the mount, itll have power to it. Makes it super easy to take off/put on
RideShare Tips, It makes sense to plug it in to the camera if the suction cup is not that great. I have this exact dash cam and it is great, but the suction cup won’t hold it on the window for me. It may be because it’s December and cold. I did some digging and located an off brand dash cam holder that grips the cam and attaches to the rear view mirror. I just got it and will be putting up it tomorrow. All of the people who’d left feedback, on Amazon, said that it was really good and worked well for their cams. It fits many different brands of dash cams. I just had a hard time getting the suction cup to stay attached to the window, even with turning the little handle after placing the system. I even went as far as to add double sided round stickers to the suction cup to no avail. If by some miracle the holder that I just got does not work, I may try velcro attached stickies.

The mount is stellar. It's better than any phone mount I have ever used (I gave up on those and switched to a vent-mounted one). I have the GPS mount, but the included one is essentially identical.
actin’s, I love the dash cam and I had issues with the suction cup. I just bought an off brand dash cam holder that works for many brands of dash cam and it has wonderful reviews. I will be setting it up tomorrow, but I am not too worried as everyone that bought it specifically for the Vantrue N2 dual dash cam loved it and said it was wonderful.
Just look on amazon.com and look up dashcam holder for vantrue and it will pull it up. The off brand holder was less than ten bucks with I think 5 angles or links. They sell 8 or 10 ones too, but the 5 angle or whatever it’s called was all that was needed. Great buy for bringing you happiness. Don’t know if I mentioned, but this holder is securely fastened to the mirror so you do not have to worry about it falling off.
HOW DO WE GET THE FOOTAGE OUT??
On the vantrue N2 Pro you do not mention how to turn on the infrared camera I thought that would be automatic can you please tell us how to do that

Do you put up a recording in progress sign of some kind for your passengers? Haven’t found anything definitive online about how to keep the dash cam use legal when it comes to recording conversations in the car
by law you are not required to post something if it is in plain sight. There is no reasonable assumption of privacy while in a rideshare. I talked to a lawyer in my uber about it.
Now... posting video online.. that is a whole different story. Especially concent if they have been drinking, but first course of action is always the request to remove the footage so if someone has second thoughts after you post something (like my uber karaoke I post on my instagram) then you just remove the video.
I bought stickers off of eBay that I stuck on both backseat windows on the outside and on the front passenger window. I also bought one of those placards you get on eBay also, that shows your name up top and in the middle shares info about your ride like, satellite radio available, fasten seatbelts, dashcam in use, no alcoholic beverages permitted and charger available for phone. I also buy things on eBay to allow clients to choose from, such as small thing of Tic-Tacs, white/Red chewy mints, and Lifesavers. I also provide the 8 ounce bottled water to them as well. Where I live in the Southeast, most people are nice and they appreciate that I provide this for them. It generally gets me a higher tip and helps achieve a 5 star rating, although I get 5 star ratings even when I do not have anything for them. I’ve only ever had one person who gave me a three because she chose not to cancel the trip seeing I was 35 minutes away, she should have canceled and requested another ride but no, she accused me of making her late to work etc. I explained that the app tells you how far away I am and if you do not want to wait, cancel and request another ride from someone closer. People do not use their brains anymore and most people these days lack common sense.
Did you export from Your sd card using a Mac or windows. I can’t seem to get my iPhone to read the card.
That's because the camera can only write to FAT32 file systems, which iphones can't read. Use the cable included with the camera or get a MicroSD-USB adapter to plug it into a desktop. FAT32 is native to windows and OSX has had the ability to read it since its inception. Phones are a whole different animal.

Do you have to remove the SD card in order to transfer footage to a computer, or can you plug the camera into a computer and retrieve the footage that way?
You can do it both ways. I prefer doing it with a USB cord
That was a hell of video about dash cam. I was wondering if there is any dash cam that can record to a cloud instead to a memory card. A 32 GB memory may be able to record a full capacity let’s say about 8 hrs probably more. We need more than that to be honest. Question is. What would happen if you forget to delete and make space for the chip and something happen and boom kalaboom no memory of the issue etc. I’m curious is there is a dash cam advance enough to record to a cloud instead of a memory card through an app.
even if their was how are you going to upload hundreds of gigs to the cloud? You'll never be able to do that with your phone so all of the data is still stuck on the camera until you get home to use wifi, but the signal would probably be terrible from your car and would take hours upon hours anyway so now you have to bring the camera inside, but if your camera is inside you might as well just pull out the SD card anyway and transfer everything in 5 minutes.
Your best bet is to just get a few super high capacity SD cards like 128gb each and just rotate them out of the camera every few days.
Remember kids, just because a tech term is new and spiffy, it isn't always tech that's new and spiffy. The "cloud" is just someone else's computer. 64GB is barely enough for 5 hours (let alone 32GB) because there are TWO streams being recorded. Spend the extra few bucks and get a 256GB SD card.
You'll never "forget" to delete the old footage to make room for the new. It does that automatically as long as loop recording is enabled. You are much more likely to forget to lock a clip that you wanted to save and have it get looped out, destroying it forever. This is less of a risk if you have a large enough SD card that you have time to copy it before it gets looped out.
You said "Let's turn on the infrared lights." Then I saw four red lights come on. Is that because your camera can pick up infrared lights, or will people in the car actually see four red lights shining on them?
You can only see the infared lights through a camera. You wont see it in person
Do u think this will capture the side view of the car well? There’re a tons of cameras for front and back, but nothing for the sides. If u get T Boned or hit on the side, typical front/back camera cannot capture that. What do U think?
Not good for side recording because during day the outdoor images are overexposed.
It doesn’t per say record the sides, but a car has to be behind or in front of you at times and it wouldn’t be hard to see from video that you were hit from any position based on where your vehicle is moved to. Also, it wouldn’t be difficult to figure out an estimated speed at impact, again depending upon the distance and location your vehicle moves to when it’s finished moving.
Mine keeps going into like a sleep mode. How do I stop this so it runs continuous?

Yea, the screen turns off on its own after a minute or two. You can also turn the screen on and off manually
Just FYI, all the comments saying that the discount code is invalid are people who either can't read, can't type, or can't copy/paste. The code worked for me months and months after they whined.

I drive UberXL and LyftXL. The sound from the front seats is excellent. The second row is not as good, but still very legible. The last row is hopeless. Anything outside of the car, even with the window open, is barely legible unless people are talking really loud (obnoxious drunks) or RIGHT by the window.
hi...thanks for the dirty windshield...mines dirtier...I live in a trash town in CO. you mentioned the motion detection in park mode. this is the determining factor for me as I wish to use it as a security cam. I found a review on just a Vantrue N2 which I think was earlier model and it states that motion detection is activated up to 33 feet of movement away from car. this feature is important for me and I wish to verity the distance as I am finding all these reviews about how good it is but I can't find the range of the motion detection on this and it would be great if someone could test it and let me know for sure what it is. thank you

UberXL and LyftXL drivers: It won't get the third row hardly at all. I added a cheap panoramic to the headliner to cover the last row and get another angle of the second row if I need it, powered by the wire going to the hatch light. Just be sure that the one you get has dewarp and eptz capability to extract usable footage in case of an incident. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077Z4W89G/ works great. I dismantled it and painted the white parts black so that it looks nicer on my grey headliner.

While you're recoding does the small screen always show it's recording. Or can I be recording and turn off the screen?? I think if passengers don't see themselves being recorded on screen it will benefit me a bit
Rich Richie the screen turns black after a few minutes on its own. There is also a button that turns the screen on and off too ( while still recording of course)
Yes that's in the settings. I believe default is like 1 minute with screen on before it turns off the screen. Just my personal preference, I set it to keep the screen on, I want my passengers to know they're being recorded, it tends to make them think twice about doing something stupid

The USB cable ONLY charges and connects it as mass storage. I was hoping to wire it to a raspberry pi and stream to a server in my house (My day job is in IT) so that my wife can check on me at night when she gets worried, but that ain't gonna happen. I may try a cheap Logitech webcam for just that purpose.

Well it may look expensive but it isn't. Keep in mind that from all dashcams out there this is the best for clear inside video at night time, wich is really important for ridesharing drivers. Just to let you know people are buying the blackvue 650s 2ch and 750s 2ch wich seems to give the most wonderful full hd video at night in interior and exterior, but it lags in reviews from the same people complaining thats its too hard to set it up and that there are many faulty units out there. For me compared to the price of the blackvue this is a great deal for a quality dashcam

you cn get a freaking go pro for that price ! if you look close at the video you cant make up any licence plate numbers whats the point. On other hand what you can do with it is intimitate your rider and get a bad rating !! ive been looking for a descrete camera that records in go pro's quality for two years now and I simply stick with go pro cause there is nothing out there. With a go pro you get the best quality of video and a sound to be honest in a case of emergency that is all you really need
