I felt really bad for Molly, she got treated badly not just by Dutch but nearly everyone in the gang. The only person who actually defended her was Karen, she understood her pain 😢😢
You are easily my favorite Red Dead Redemption 2 youtuber, you have such a clear passion for the game and i just dig every video you upload Please keep it up bro!
Personally, I believe that when Molly approaches Arthur for the heart to heart conversation and was interrupted, she would have 1. Expressed her concerns with Dutch's mental well-being ("how does he seem to you?" + we hear plenty of evidence that he was starting to crack long before the Trolley crash in chapter 4), & 2. I believe she may have been planning to tell Arthur and Dutch that she had been approached by the Pinkertons for questioning (her remarks about Dutch valuing loyalty + Agent Milton later confirming they "sweated her" a few times, but that she wouldn't give them any info). The pregnancy angle is interesting, but I just don't see enough circumstantial evidence for it, and it feels like something she would have possibly mentioned in her depressing poem left on the 2nd floor of Shady Belle. Since she didn't seem very shy about sharing the rest of her vulnerabilities at that point in her arc.
My theory on Molly stems from one line in the start of the mission where Arthur gets kidnapped by the O’Driscoll’s. Before they set out to meet with Colm, Dutch mentions that Colm murdered his wife Annabelle. This implied that Dutch never got over his loss and was said in ear shot from Molly. The combination of knowing Dutch still harbored feelings for a deceased love, the stress of being on the run and Dutch constant preoccupation with finding a way out of their predicament was too much for Molly to bare.
A problem with the Mary Beth one is she tells Arthur in a Chapter 2 camp conversation that her mother was from New Hanover and died of typhoid. She could be lying, but it seems unlikely she would outright make up something like that to Arthur randomly, as she brought it up, and she seems fond enough of Arthur that she wouldn't likely blatantly be telling him this in a casual conversation where she had nothing in particular to gain by doing so.
The theory about the missing girl being Mary Beth is so easily disprovable, there’s literally a model of the girl but grown up in the game files, but it was cut from the game
It’s so heartbreaking what Molly went through. And it’s kind of tragically lovely that Karen was angry at Grimshaw. When Molly was typically mean towards Karen.
You make a good point, so much was cut out, that the narrators wouldn't have theories or questions, because the game would have explained all. Not just have us focus on Arthur...😊

Craziest thing is my first playthrough when Molly gets shot it came as a surprise to me... Like who is this girl and what is she going on about because till that point I'd always thought Mrs Grimshaw and Dutch were together and Molly was a side piece. Id only rately ever glance in passing while at Horseshoe Overlook and mistakingly thought it was Mrs Grimshaw and Dutch together.... Huh. Makes me wonder if i was the only one not paying attention for this to happen. Im my playthrough it was just "Gold bars, get gold bars... Ok hunt the animals to get best manpurse... Ok .. legend creatures.... Blah blah blah... Challenges... Mollys going crazy? I only ran into her once at Shady Bell... And now she's dead... Redheads...."
Chapter 3 dutch sneaks around talking to Mary Beth and Molly is making scenes about it... Ms.Grimshaw was with Dutch sometime before Molly... Camp talk in chapter 3 gives a ton of info... Clemens Point was eye opening.
@RealJohnnyGuillotine Ah so Molly is going ape sht over Mary Beth yet it always seemed to me Mary Beth had it out for Arthur, while Mrs Grimshaw still harbors resentment towards Molly... Crazy.
19:09 my belief is Strange Man is a manifesting spirit linked to death, Like a Judge that represents the HONOR SYSTEM and what type of afterlife each person in RD universe will have. (Hades// St. Peter etc) . - He tells John he knows all about him & Knows the whereabouts and actions of everyone in town. - Gives you suggestions on how to intervene on certain people. (Omnipresent) - The choices you make with each random encounter either raises or lowers your honor. Jimmy Brooks being the first in RDR2, he writes a poem directly describing either of your choices. When he replies "YES many have" to John saying "God Damn You". We gotta think of situations wheree people say "God Damn It" Accidents? Bad Luck? Fate? Etc STRANGE MAN is like a manifestation or spirit causing those types of incidents. Like EVERYTIME it's a random encounter for you to intervene its usually an accident, or wrong place wrong time type of situation.
The strange man is death. He basically was with John his entire life. John's mom died giving birth to him, so death was there when John was born. John was always with death when his dad died and killed people and when he first killed someone at 10 and then being a shooter for dutchs gang at 12. Everywhere John went death was around him.
@markmagician2471 Could be both. The game also has themes of duality along w blurring the line between good & bad/evil. Its all in the perspective of the viewer and/or player.
Red dead and GTA can't be in the same universe because California and New York City canonically exist in red dead, if they were in the same universe they would be replaced by San Andreas amd Liberty City.
Did you know that Texas is mentioned in the newspapers of Red Dead 2? Even though New Austin also exists in the game. New Austin is the Red Dead equivalent of Texas btw, along with a few other south-western states. The fact that Texas is mentioned in RDR2 itself, despite New Austin existing, means that Liberty/New York and San Andreas/California can also exist. They are all the same places, just with different names. Another example: The Mississippi River is mentioned in RDR1, despite the Lannahechee River being introduced in RDR2 as the Red Dead equivalent of the Mississippi River. It's obvious that Rockstar didn't care to be consistent with the names of places in both GTA and the Red Dead series. But an in-universe explanation could be that these places have multiple names, or maybe the names were changed in the past, but people still refer to them by their former and current names.
Yup US playing RDR1 & 2 are literally, Jack's Book " RED DEAD" Like how on a TV show they always show a person's flashback, in detail like we were there. Plus another reason that proves THIS is canon. Is the Fake sasquatch, guy in costume in GTA5. He quotes the Sasquatch's speech from RDNightmare, WORD FOR WORD..... How? Because he read it in the book. Jack probably made RDNightmare as a sequel, or surprise fictional ending to the book This would make sense because he would literally be INCRIMINATING himself, if he released the book as autobiographical The "RED DEAD REDEMPTION" Credits, ONLY appear for Jack, out of all the kills you get as John (in both games), Arthur (also doesn't get a credit), the REDEMPTION is all about Jack avenging John Marston. Perfect "Easter egg" which reveals the true canon of the RD series And also GTA5 and San Andreas are also same universe. All the games are connected

Exactly! It’s not Mary-Beth
it makes sense that dutch would be so angry at that point that he would start eating lawmen
7:50
My theory is that s
Grimshaw actually killed molly, hoping to get herself back in dutch's good graces (or at least karen believes it)
Or Miss Grimshaw was the rat.
😱
Or she just liked killing. Like how she killed Karen
That Molly theory makes her death even more chilling/heartbreaking tbh.
It's really hard to believe this is just a video game.
It’s so heartbreaking what Molly went through. And it’s kind of tragically lovely that Karen was angry at Grimshaw. When Molly was typically mean towards Karen.
The second one is easily the easiest to disprove there is a character model in the game files himting that it a cut side misson

In GTA5 online you can unlock the strange mans outfit by needing a disguise to get into the morgue undetected for key cards
in here so early Arthur is still wearing green shirt

I dunno, death doesn't give you options or make deals, I think he's more divine be it devil or God. He's the reason Herbert moon still lives.
