    This is a very delicious fish, I love to cook it too. Where I come from, Suriname, we have the season for this kind of fish to catch. 😊

      +Mon Chi When I was younger I could remember you could get this fish to buy from street venders (in Trinidad), the fish was fresh. Now you get it frozen in the grocery store. TFW!

      Those are good memories from home. Also in Suriname / South America you can still buy fresh ones @ the market when its the season. But I life in Europe now for 31 years and have to do here with the frozen ones or when my parents flew over, fresh frozen ones 😊.

      +Mon Chi Its great you can get the fish in Europe. I live in the British virgin islands and they are not available in the stores. I have some Guyanese friends and as you may know they call this fish hassa and occasionally they will bring back some on their return from their home country.

    Hi Hun how are you? Hope all is well and you're having a great week. Gotta love out mothers and their recipes, they always know best and I think this recipe looks fabulous. Can I substitute the fish for chicken? I'm not a big fish lover, I'll eat salmon but not full fish like that. Would it be ok?

    • @WhaToCook
      @WhaToCook  7 років тому

      Hello my friend welcome back! Yes you can use chicken instead or any type of fish, then you will have a curry chicken or fish. I hope all is well with you and your family! TFW!

    I was wondering why it looked like it had scales on it. Lol !! so you leave the scale on to cook it? I don't remember ever eating that fish. It looks scary to me.Lol! the recipe looks good though. 😆👌

    • @WhaToCook
      @WhaToCook  7 років тому

      LOL! It does look a little scary! I wonder if this fish has any relation to the cat fish? I think they do. Yes they are cooked with the scales on. TFW my friend!

      In my child hood day we use to have these and Tata fish in abundance ready to cook anytime.. my entire family on my dad's side would always get together at grandma's and grandpa's and go fishing together, when they got back from their fishing trip and caught fish in abundance the whole street with also receive fish.. The good days.

      water first then coconut milk, correct, but all the stuffing is unnecessary, for a sweeter natural taste, just ensure you get the seasoning on the inside of the fish. really tasty and delicious. btw you have to suck those shells, eating with that fork would'nt cut it
