I once knew a guy who wanted to be a marine sooooo bad in high school he got an eagle anchor globe tattoo on his forearm in high school, (he is 24 now) and didn't end up sighning up hence he got a girlfriend and she "didn't want him to die", which a year ago he proposed to and she rejected claiming that she had bin cheating on him since day one. So being all angry and hateful twords the world he went ahead and tried to sign up but being covered in tattoos and like weighed 276 when he has to be 186 and a criminal record. he thought his 4 years in jrotc could have saved him. CORRECTIONS (at least for the US Navy)! 0:45 - "If you're enlisted, you have to live in the barracks..." Wrong. Enlisted CAN live off base. I've done so, no need to be married, no need to live in on base housing. I had my own apartment, while single, in downtown Oahu, HI and loved it. NOW, cavets... 1 - many bases will have a minimum rank before they'll give that permission 2 - Or, be married 3 - Or, be a single parent 4 - Or, at least E5 5 - Or, a proven history and means of getting to work on time, every time. However, Lateness is the EASIEST way to lose that privilege, and no, the navy will not help you out when you get sent to court for breaking the lease early. Now, the housing allowance and COLA (cost of living allowance), and how it works. They both get COLA. COLA is the cost offset for living in that area, and quite a few places have a high COLA because the food and housing and everything else is expensive. The cost of living is up there. Thus, COLA. It's usually a set amount based on your rank and time in service. Enlisted get housing allowance, officers don't. Officers have to eat it out of pocket. If you are looking at going officer, don't bother with the rest of this. This is based strictly on rank. However... there's many allowances and it takes a pay clerk to navigate that mess. (you did remember to make the pay clerk and the chef your new best buds, right?) Every base will handle this differently. So when you are talking with that detailer about your next duty station, ASK. IF they don't know, get the number of the housing office on the base you are looking at and ASK. Those who get shore duty CAN bring family, but for those orders where that is not an option, there's called unaccompanied.. which means you get extra $$$ for being separated from your family. "You are going to be, an professional janitor" True. Your space is going to be inspected regularly. "prepare to not have a car for a while" I didn't have a car for over 6 years, and in fact never had a drivers license until I was 25... I joined when I was 18. "You have to be in fire teams to go to walmart" Ah... yea, no. At least not for the Navy. If you needed to go to walmart, and you have liberty.. just go. But if it's a port that has problems, chances are NO one is leaving the base anyways... most times though, the bases are well stocked so you wouldn't be missing much. (aside from the chance to sample the local cuisine.. ) Bottom line: Don't speak for all enlisted Clayton, just the branch you know please. the US Navy is far different than the US Marines in the privileges that enlisted have.
Give the guy a break. What he says is true for Marines. Maybe he put military instead of marines by accident? Either way, Navy got the hookups bro, lucky bastard
If you're at a point in your life where you're debating whether or not to join the military or go to college, please, for the love of God, take the time to do your research. Don't be one of those "I wish I did this" and "that" sort of Marine. You will be miserable. Even if you do this right, the first few years, your life is going to suck as a lower enlisted Marine.
Genocide Of The Weeaboos If I were you I'd go to a community college for the first two years. It's way cheaper than university. And I'm not sure how the acceptance is. Not to long ago my friend got denied going into the national guard because of "tight hamstrings". But, if you're only joining for college then you're gonna be miserable as hell, if that's the only reason for joining though.
I agree. If that's the sole reason you're enlisting, you're going to hate your life for the next 4 years. Look at it this way, there's nothing wrong with going to college and starting a career from the bottom-up. As a matter of fact, you may be in a better position to do so, rather than go through the enlisted route and then have that 4 year unemployment gap and having to frantically find employment like most military service members wind up doing (and it does happen). So, overall, do your diligent research before you go about and sign away yourself into the military. Again, that is at least 4 long years you sign yourself away to. That's no joke.
Andy Flores I almost went ROTC for the Army but decided against it only because I wanted to try life, for a lack of better words, first. But, I realized that the military is always there and if I lose guidance in life the military may be my way back on track.
Just don't let it be a crutch, it's either go for it all the way or don't do it at all, because if you're half hearted with your decision 9 times out of 10 you'll regret it.
He's exactly right on every point. The only differences that I could immediately think of is that how many other soldiers/Marines you share a room with in AIT/MOS school depends on where you go and what your MOS is. At Fort Gordon, there were 5 other soldiers in my room

Has to do with camaraderie and also how much money the government gives the military to pay people. If every single person rated the extra paycheck to live off base, the country would be in even more debt.
In my experience living next to lejune/cherrypoint there are unmarried marines living with friends off of base and they do get extra pay just not the same as married pay.

Do all these apply to the Navy? I know about the cleaning and stuff like that but what about the buddy system and the barracks? Do they apply the same ways?
Just saying I have been in for about a year and a half and haven’t cleaned shit lol but then again we’re training for security missions so... I guess that’s why
Being a rover on duty actually sounds kind of peaceful. Especially at night. Just walkin around with the smell of fresh air and silence. Unless a bunch of people are having a huge party.
I’m assuming a warrant officer is basically the same thing as an officer and thus the same rules apply when it comes to having and spending time with a significant other? Someone tell me what the deal is with this.
Charles Ferguson in boot camp had a guy in my platoon who was 28. He said he just wanted a change of pace from the daily life. Tired of working on offices.
much respect to all the men and women who serve and plan on. my opinion why the hell donu want to put ur life on the line for a country that's falling apart? why do people want to be treated like shit by an organization that's supposed to protect us, when all they do is make it worse and make our lady's and gentlemen feel like shit. now again all my opinins
I ship to boot July 25th, the only question I had from this video was housing, does housing include someone staying one night haha. I'm under the impression yes but still I would like clarification
what if you have a kid ? I mean I got hurt when I was in ITB however I finished it and I was considering maybe reenlisting depending if I can or not, if I have a kid on the way though but me and my spouse are not married and I was to reenlist would I have to leave them behind because I don't want to do that , ive seen what happens to alot of men who go without seeing there kids and it takes a toll on them. I know I have alot of options as well as reenlisting and I'm lost on what to do.
Never been, but a lot of my buddies are there right now. It's like, 50/50. Some people fucking love it, others do not. Idk, if you like seeing family often and U.S. culture, you wouldn't like oki. BUT if you have nothing holding you bakc in the states and you're single, you'll love oki.
So question ( i don't know much of how the military pay and their details) so what if you already have a car and making car payments, how do you deal with those payments even though you're out there doing you boot, and the rest of your training?
Can somebody break it down what is it like, if you are married and live on base military housing or off base. What does that look like during mos school and further on. Regarding formations and so on.
On Base = House is paid for you, so you don't get extra money for rent/mortgage Off Base = You get a stipend with adjustment for locality cost of living. More money, less convenience
+steven josue You live in the barracks until you reach staff sgt or get married. Period. There are rare instances where the barracks are full, but even when that happens they start moving out sgts first. You'll be in the barracks.
I am thinking of joining sometime, but I have an intense fear of needles and I know that vaccinations and blood draws happen quite a lot in the Marines, any tips or ideas?
Oh man, Idk. You'll just have to decide if you'll be able to suck it up and go through with it. It doesn't hurt that bad and you won't see the needle. And its safe
+Snowfall 24 the gas chamber is just matter of minutes, but it's hell Haha. There's nothing to do as far as preparing, they'll just shuffle you in, you breathe in the air, and you exit with snot and puke Haha.
Hey Clayton, I recently enlisted in the Army and will ship out on April 11th of this year. My question is about AIT school. I have been married almost 4 years now and soon we will be having a baby boy. My MOS is 17C - Cyber Operation Specialist and it's +/- 44 weeks long. My question are: Can I bring my wife? Would I have to live in the barracks? Would I still don't be allowed to have a car? I am currently financing my car and it would suck if I would be paying for the car and not using it. BWT I love your videos and I recently subscribed to your channel.
There’s a lot of negatives but...... yeah there’s a lot of negatives. Lol Just kidding, listen if you wanna be a Marine be a Marine. You only get one life, it sucks AT TIMES, but it gets easier the deeper you go, you get used to it and you adjust. There’s a lot of positives, free college, you get to explore, a great sense of pride, there’s tons of leadership opportunities, you learn so much knowledge... I’d say go for it. Stay open minded, stay humble, and last thing, it’s what you make of it. It’ll be a bad time if you LET IT, it could be a great time if you LET IT as well! Good luck!
about barracks life are you required to sleep there every night? say I get a girlfriend with a place near by can I sleep there occasionally or do I have to be in every night at a certain time?
Honestly, you could probably sneak it. But if people find out youre straight up living off base, that's risky. But as long as you show up to formation and duty, you could be ok. The thing that will get you in trouble is when they randomly call an accountability formation and you aren't there
+Carlos Verges Not sure off the top of my head the exact gpa, but you need to be a half decent student and your degree has to be moderately applicable. Like you can't have a history major and expect them to accept that.
Do you have any knowledge about or know anybody in the Marines that had Psoriasis and could get waive red for it. I've been looking online, some people say it's an auto DQ, some people say it's not. I've asked my sister's boyfriend who is at Westpoint, he says you can get a waiver for it. Thank you.
claytonfilpo... you mention in the video about if i am married the military can bring y wife to live with me. one question i have is that my wife live outside america, can the military help me bring her here or does the military bring her her automatically?
If you get to the point to where you're in DEP and all of the sudden you don't want to join, you need to get your shit together. Once you make your first visit to meps, you should be set on joining, otherwise you're wasting your own time, as well as the recruiters and doctors at meps who are working to get you in....
Hey Clayton, love the channel! I have a question, you said you have to leave in Fireteams to go anywhere. Does this include people who have a car and on Liberty weekends? Me and my girlfriend were planning on me coming to see her when and if I get stationed at camp lejeune. I remeber you saying you did that with your girlfriend driving 4 hours to see her.
+Markus Stanley Oh dude, you can drive wherever the hell you want when you hit the fleet and get stationed somewhere. But during MOS school, the rules are different because you're on 'student status.' So while you might not be able to swing that while on student status, when you hit the fleet you'll be fine.
+ClaytonFilpo awesome! Thanks man, and I learned from reading the comments that your MOS could get deployed to combat zones lol wow. Cant think so bad of it after all then.

+Mario Tapia Thanks for watching, Mario!
thank you this was all very helpful!
When you get out of boot camp do you get your personal belongings back like your glasses phone clothes computer and all that?
So you say like you Need fire teams and such to go places.. What if I'm out of groceries body wash etc and no one wants to go with me am I sol? And when does that stop, when can I go places I want as an adult
Sucks to suck if you run out and can't get a buddy. However, it stops after MOS school. Once you hit the "mystical" fleet, you're a regular person again. *(Boots call it mystical because they feel like they're being treated like kids for so long that the fleet isn't actually ever going to happen)
ClaytonFilpo how long is MOS usually ?
My bf just left for bootcamp for marine corp yesterday and i wont see him for 3 months...im 16 hes 18 and hes gonna be stationed in japan for a couple years😭😔dont know what to do
I want to join the marines are their any programs. that allow the government to pay for college in return for 4 years of service.....
Yep. The GI Bill.
my mos school is in 29 palms ill be communications I was happy I would be in California close to home will I be able to visit at all on my free time since your not allowed to have a car or can people visit ?
+angieeez19 You can't have a car but people can visit, yes.
Do all these apply to the Navy? I know about the cleaning and stuff like that but what about the buddy system and the barracks? Do they apply the same ways?
Tyronasaurus Rex think about it, what the hell are you going to do for next 8 month on a ship. Field day, on a ship.
Just saying I have been in for about a year and a half and haven’t cleaned shit lol but then again we’re training for security missions so... I guess that’s why
Idk on how to get the recon contract mos
Hehe Duty, he said Duty
Being a rover on duty actually sounds kind of peaceful. Especially at night. Just walkin around with the smell of fresh air and silence. Unless a bunch of people are having a huge party.
Is this only for current active duty Marines and Marine Reserves or is that a whole different story?
Lol served 3 yrs active duty army and I never stayed in the barracks.
"Every Marine is a janitor"
so if your in your barracks can you go and bring someone in or no one put you in there
I’m assuming a warrant officer is basically the same thing as an officer and thus the same rules apply when it comes to having and spending time with a significant other? Someone tell me what the deal is with this.
loving the post eas beard
Thanks bruh
a major one you missed was shack hack spreads like the plague.
I am really stuck between joing and not joining.
Same boat
I really appreciate this video, because I am planning on joining the Marine Corps in may and my girlfriend and I might want to get married soon.
blessed with a base 30 miles away from my house
Yea, Lejeune is only like an hour and half drive from where I live.
what stuff is allowed and isnt allowed in the barracks?
You mentioned the age of 29, is that when you joined? If not, did you know anyone that age while you were in? What was their experience?
New a guy that joined at 29. He hated being treated like a child, because everyone gets treated like a child in the military.
+ClaytonFilpo hey at what age did you enlist im thinking to join after high school but I'm debating on wether or not to wait a year or 2.
Charles Ferguson in boot camp had a guy in my platoon who was 28. He said he just wanted a change of pace from the daily life. Tired of working on offices.
Mr. Filipowics I wanted to know if we could play on Xbox and I have some questions maybe you can help I watched your live stream have a good day.
I meant play when ever you can
+GamstaVlogs sure dood
+ClaytonFilpo I actually don't know your gamertag
+GamstaVlogs it's Mr Filpo
Clayton if I join the marines and get a mos in aviation maintenance what base would I mostly likely be stationed at
im pretty sure its pensacola but i could be wrong
much respect to all the men and women who serve and plan on. my opinion why the hell donu want to put ur life on the line for a country that's falling apart? why do people want to be treated like shit by an organization that's supposed to protect us, when all they do is make it worse and make our lady's and gentlemen feel like shit. now again all my opinins
That why ion wanna join fam
I ship to boot July 25th, the only question I had from this video was housing, does housing include someone staying one night haha. I'm under the impression yes but still I would like clarification
+KICYORASSproductions nope. it doesnt if youre in the barracks
what if you have a kid ? I mean I got hurt when I was in ITB however I finished it and I was considering maybe reenlisting depending if I can or not, if I have a kid on the way though but me and my spouse are not married and I was to reenlist would I have to leave them behind because I don't want to do that , ive seen what happens to alot of men who go without seeing there kids and it takes a toll on them. I know I have alot of options as well as reenlisting and I'm lost on what to do.
Hello Clayton, did you have an Intel MOS? Also how do you transition from intel into a defense contractor job?
Hahaha "I didn't go to the military because I couldn't bring my girlfriend"
What are the other options if you don't want to live in the barracks?
Troll or stupid?
Havock it's an honest question. I'm going to disregard your last comment.
I don't know if I should go to college first and go officer or just enlist
So officer route is preferable...good thing I wanna be a pilot.
what was the dumbest thing your DI made you and your platoon do in basic
Do you have to live in the barracks if you're enlisted no matter what rank you are?
How much of this applies to Reserves?
Ay im in mos school and we dont have to do the fire team formation libo buddy. we just have to have someone to go with
+MRSTEALYOURGIRL Same concept, it varies from schoolhouse to schoolhouse (that's how my mos school was - sign out with a buddy)
+ClaytonFilpo Rah. Hey you ever been to Oki? whats it like
Never been, but a lot of my buddies are there right now. It's like, 50/50. Some people fucking love it, others do not. Idk, if you like seeing family often and U.S. culture, you wouldn't like oki. BUT if you have nothing holding you bakc in the states and you're single, you'll love oki.
So is getting deployed to combat not promised even if you make it clear to your recruiter that ,that is what you want?
nope. nothing is promised
ClaytonFilpo Alright thanks for making a channel like this😂 and producing good content like this- helps out
So question ( i don't know much of how the military pay and their details) so what if you already have a car and making car payments, how do you deal with those payments even though you're out there doing you boot, and the rest of your training?
Schedule automatic payments and keep enough money in that account in which they're drawing from.
How long do you have to live in the dorms?
If I do 5 years as a navy corpsman then go through rotc for the marines will my retirement ready and will I have to start out as an o1?
Can somebody break it down what is it like, if you are married and live on base military housing or off base. What does that look like during mos school and further on. Regarding formations and so on.
On Base = House is paid for you, so you don't get extra money for rent/mortgage
Off Base = You get a stipend with adjustment for locality cost of living. More money, less convenience
ClaytonFilpo
And during mos school?
Good job dad
If I am an enlisted I will always been living on the barracks or just for a couple of years ?
+steven josue You live in the barracks until you reach staff sgt or get married. Period. There are rare instances where the barracks are full, but even when that happens they start moving out sgts first. You'll be in the barracks.
+ClaytonFilpo ok thanks sir
steven josue
I am thinking of joining sometime, but I have an intense fear of needles and I know that vaccinations and blood draws happen quite a lot in the Marines, any tips or ideas?
Oh man, Idk. You'll just have to decide if you'll be able to suck it up and go through with it. It doesn't hurt that bad and you won't see the needle. And its safe
+ClaytonFilpo Okay, and another question of mine is that in basic training you inhale tear gas in a gas chamber training exercise, any tips for that?
+Snowfall 24 the gas chamber is just matter of minutes, but it's hell Haha. There's nothing to do as far as preparing, they'll just shuffle you in, you breathe in the air, and you exit with snot and puke Haha.
+ClaytonFilpo lol, and yet another question: Would a D.I. or commanding officer make fun of me if they saw me freaking out over a needle?
+Snowfall 24 probably
Good luck!
How does it feel to have hair after BCT? My biggest fear is that I cannot have my own hairstyles. Can you explain?
about barracks life are you required to sleep there every night? say I get a girlfriend with a place near by can I sleep there occasionally or do I have to be in every night at a certain time?
Honestly, you could probably sneak it. But if people find out youre straight up living off base, that's risky. But as long as you show up to formation and duty, you could be ok. The thing that will get you in trouble is when they randomly call an accountability formation and you aren't there
+ClaytonFilpo Okay thanks I still have a while before I need to worry about it lol I'm still a poolee
how hard is to enter as an officer if you have a bachelor's degree? gpa required?
+Carlos Verges Not sure off the top of my head the exact gpa, but you need to be a half decent student and your degree has to be moderately applicable. Like you can't have a history major and expect them to accept that.
not really, but possibly a tiny bit if you go enlisted (might get automatic e-2, but it's not a big bump at all)
Do you have any knowledge about or know anybody in the Marines that had Psoriasis and could get waive red for it. I've been looking online, some people say it's an auto DQ, some people say it's not. I've asked my sister's boyfriend who is at Westpoint, he says you can get a waiver for it. Thank you.
+MrBrownieGaming Unfortunately I have no info on this, sorry man
Its alright, thanks for the reply!
omg i love your hair
claytonfilpo... you mention in the video about if i am married the military can bring y wife to live with me. one question i have is that my wife live outside america, can the military help me bring her here or does the military bring her her automatically?
She will have to obtain a green card
Hey can you get out of the D.E.P if you're already in?
Blue Version yea
until you ship you have a choice
once you ship your ass is theirs
If you get to the point to where you're in DEP and all of the sudden you don't want to join, you need to get your shit together. Once you make your first visit to meps, you should be set on joining, otherwise you're wasting your own time, as well as the recruiters and doctors at meps who are working to get you in....
Okay so what if you already have a car can you get it after?
Ya you can get it later bro
ClaytonFilpo Alright thanks dude!
I have tmj, will this disqualify me from joining? If it does, will I be able to hide it from them or will they find out at Meps or something? Thanks
I'm joining the air National Guard does any of this apply?
Ya kinda, but only for your training portion.
+ClaytonFilpo ty
