My sincere appreciation and respect to Prof Peterson for mentioning these events in Ukraine! My great-grandfather had fields and had been making 3500 liters of wine every year to sell. He also had cows, horses, etc. But then anti-kulaks came and grandpa has been sent to Siberia where he died. Of course everything he had (land, goods, animals, etc.) has been stolen in a "legal" way.

This exactly what happened to my grandma. My great parents was considered kulaks because they owned a little store in the village. Was robbed arrested and send in Siberia to work in a coal mine, her mother was like 40 and she was around 7 or 8. Her dad was arrested and she never saw him again. Many families died from starvation there. My guess because she and her mom was small they managed to live on a little bit of ration. We recorded video of her telling the story. It is like 3 hour long interview, maybe I publish it one day.
My great grandfather did a little better. He owned a textile company. One day the village police officer came over and told him that the authorities would come for him soon. He left Ukraine to China, and his workforce left with him.
AS JP has explained, most humans are capable of evil behaviour . The US psychiatrist who assessed the captured Nazi leaders prior to the Nuremburg trials, on his return to the US, became an alcoholic and committed suicide, as these people weren't psychopaths as others wanted to believe.
Proctain Darkward Let us hope that our military has a large collection of individual thinkers who will see the enemy that is currently making strides on our own soil. When push comes to shove, if they simply follow orders, which will undoubtedly come from those embedded within the evil itself, we are doomed. We fear for our children’s future. We fear for our children.
Ivan Parra Yes, there's supposed to be protection in our constitution, but the criminal government is working hard at changing the constitution concerning firearm ownership, so that they can disarm us. But the white South Africans have always had a close relationship with their firearms, just like the USA, so they've faught hard in the courts to keep their firearms up to now, believing a genocide on whites will ensue as soon as they're disarmed.
Ivan Parra We will obviously try like our lives depended on it, but kinda more concerned about you in the USA. We know we're in a Communist state, but very few Americans realise that tge USA is on the verge of becoming a Communist state. If Trump loses, then that's it for the USA. @@ivanpparra South Africa is supposed to have one of the most advanced constitutions in the wold, but once the government has gone rogue and the judiciary has been captured, then everything gets blurry. They've been trying to disarm us for 20 years now. First it was just a firearm registry. Once all the firearms were registered, they changed the laws which forced you to go through pretty extreme measures and training to get a new firearm license. Now they've sneaked in a law that says the Minister of Safety & Security may declare an emergency and demand that all weapons be handed in within 48 hours, or else... In, I believe it was the Philippines, people who refused to hand in their weapons were executed on the spot. See where this is going. They're following the same sneaky process in the USA.
All the Americans thinking nothing as bad as a genocide could happen to them should look at this and then at South Africa. And the worst part is it always goes both ways: where there's a Soviet Union, there's always a Germany in response to it too. If you go down, the whole world will follow, so stand for what's actually right everyone and stay safe.
there is a heavy dose of arrogance in American society. If Dems take over and a Marxist regime is born in America, the EFF will get support from the US and media will spew even more divise propaganda and I fear the result.
This may be his most important point. It always amazes me that people can’t see this. Dividing people into groups per identity politics is always step one toward authoritarianism. The next step of labeling various groups as victims and oppressors is a step toward genocide. 1+1 = 2
Maybe, but in reality they made the borders of identity so vague any person can claim to be any identity, so its not exactly going to work. Also the identities in question do not have the capacity to commit genocide because they are not influential enough. It's hardly likely for example that the LGBTQ identity group for example is going to massacre a bunch of gun toting republicans. Yet for some reason the gun toting republicans think this might be the case. Honestly what are these "identity groups" going to do, shout you to death? It's laughable hyperbole at best.

I have several Kulaks in my family history - poor people. Some had their livelihood simply taken away, some were sent off to Siberia and left to die (though they survived). And it terrifies me to no end to see the parallels of what is happening in the West right now to what happened in Russia back then. It's like we're stuck in some sick loop, doomed to relive it. I keep trying to warn people in my life, but they shrug it off or think I'm exaggerating. I just hope enough people will wake up - otherwise the horror hasn't yet begun.
My family experienced the same. German citizens who were working as traveling school teachers. The bolshiviks got to my grandfather and conscripted him. They just tore up his papers and told him to march. He eventually made it back to his family who had barely scraped by and smuggled his pregnant wife and 5 children out of the occupied areas. His brother's and their families weren't so lucky. They found out from others that they executed them after they pulled a bible out of the house and asking them to read it. They killed every male older than 12. As for my grandmother she was born months later in Canada. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Karl Marx and his self proclaimed intellectuals.
will Nill "At this point the West deserves it" It's exactly this attitude that has driven each of those genocides of the past. "They deserve to die" The Kulaks in the Soviet Union, the Jews in Nazi Germany, the intellectuals of communist China, they all deserved it and it was the people that believed this tripe that went on to kill by the millions. It's you that's the problem.
My Grandfathers parents and ancestors were German/Flemish settlers which were invited by Catherine II. the Great to bring modern agriculture technics in the region of Bessarabia which is in the Southwest of the todays Ukraine and Moldova. They were farmers who raised cattle and aditionally my grandgrandfather did some work as an civil servant. Cause of that they were classified as Kulaks by the Bolsheviks, so they had to escape the Bolsheviks influence. They had to leave their farm and land and fleed to Romania were they built up everything again. But then WW2 started and in 1944 they were forced to flee again - now back to Germany and then built up a new existence again. My two Grandmothers were also forced by the Communists to leave their ancestors land and fleed from Breslau/Silesia and the Sudetenland in the Oremountain-region.
It's like the West is trying to set a high score for recreating patterns of societal collapse. It's almost a marvel to see this thing suspended in mid air.

The same pattern happened in China 80 years ago. The similarity of Communists in Russia, China and now western world is the elitists (and intellectuals) look for a group of people who are socially or economically disadvantaged, and turn the group against the authority. It was never about helping the disadvantaged. It was about showing their superiority, seizing power, and achieving their utopia.
In their marxist Utopia: everything is given by the government. Everything is free. Nobody needs to work, you get your money every month. This pleases the people which Jordan was talking about.

After some days working a mob of peasents try to lynch him and his workers. Thank God, he was defended by a small group of villagers that fight with machetes for his life. Four years after the incident my father was visited in our house by a regretful peasent asking for forgiveness, asking if the business project can be retaken. He said that they were cheated by a NGO about the nature of the project, and that the NGO promised help and resources if they opposed the project. To make the story short, after the project was rejected by the angry mob the NGO didn't fulfill its promises and go away, leaving a village with 90% children malnourishment. So, if you donate to NGO or charities you have to be careful. A lot of NGO in 3rd world countries are held by socialist that only want to create hate and don't give a shit for neccesitated people. @Djdjcjf Nfjsjxjcj Because your opening premise was that it was because of them that fewer people knew about the Holodomor genocide, when in fact quite a lot of those very people died alongside their gentile neighbours and many more evacuated from the area because of it. (Also, it was Stalin, not them, who tried to conceal knowledge of it and their relationship with him was, to say the least, remote.) Also, there's nothing "semi-false" about the fact that they've been victims (but if there were, there would be more emphasis on their presence in the Ukraine around the time of the Holodomor genocide, but as is evident from this conversation, it's rarely focused on).

Just anecdotal. They use intimidation and force and soon label you as their enemy for if you're not with them, they decide that you must be against them and thus you become an enemy in their eyes that should be dealt with sooner or later They do not tolerate certain questions. I've heard a story from a guy, who was told it by hhis dad, about his great-grandfather (but I can't confirm if it was true of not, so, grain of salt, but based on what he told me, I belive it to be). The small village was located FAAAAR away from everyone else, it produced lumber, grain and a few minor things, the owner of the general store was the riches person around (but at least he wasn't a greedy person), he was the one who bought the things the village produced and once in a while, send a truck driver out into the wider world with the resources, and it came back with goods. Then one day, a group of people, wearing red armbands, came to the village and started preaching how terrible people with more money than yourself was, and so they got a bunch of the people in the village (mostly, like the example Peterson made, the "misserable drunks") turned against the store owner, it escalated into them hanging him as a "thief", and distributing his possesions, but a few months later, the village faced a problem, they were in need a lot of goods, that they normally bought at the general store, and none of them knew how or where to get them, outside the village (the family and employees of the store keeper had fled, and nobody wanted to go to and open a store, in a village where your neighbors would kill you and steal your stuff), this included things like medicine and gasoline, so at one point. The majority of the people in the village ended up packing their things and move, because they just couldn't live there any more, one of them included the great-grandpa, his family decided to travle west, so far west, that they ended up leaving the country, and he said that "the dumbest decision the village ever made (turning aginst the store owner), forced his family to make the the best decision ever (to leave the country), but he belived that had they not made the first, they would never had needed to make the second". How I understood it, it happened in the northwest part of Russia, around 1918-1920, and he travled west to the Scandinavian countries. The "victims" ended up killing, the one who was basicly their lifeline.

To add to that, the reason God was more happy about the other brother was that he always offered up the best things he had, whereas Cain only gave what he wanted to give and kept the rest for himself.
A profoundly keen observation. Let's paint a comparative picture. God had already shown Adam and Eve how to offer a sacrifice. This knowledge was handed down to their children. Suppose Gods instructions for a sacrifice are the laws, and Abel and Cain are citizens living under said law. Abel is a conservative who conserves the way of life as it was handed to him. He works diligently and does exactly what is expected of him. Cain is inquisitive, he loves to question and do his own thing, he is a liberal. Both are asked to offer a sacrifice, but only one gives the sacrifice God actually wants. Cain had the resources to give the appropriate sacrifice, but gave in to his apathy. He figured he could reinterpret the laws and come up with his own form of justice, so he offered up fruits and vegetables instead, which I'm sure were quite perfect. But it wasnt what was asked of him. When God accepted Abels sacrifice over Cains, he played the victim. Abels character and work ethic acted as an open rebuke to the folly of Cains philosophy, character and attitude. This sense of judgement he felt upon him, that pointed out the fault wich was solely his, seethed into murderous desires which he then acted upon. Cain always felt he knew best, and questioned everything instead of just doing what was needed. When God confronted him on the murder of his brother Cain replied, "Am I my brothers keeper?" We must learn to know when it's the right time to be the liberal, and when it's right time to be the conservative.

This didn't come from books but from people that lived it. My parents came to Canada, where I was born, and I've met people, worked with them, who escaped from Poland, Czechoslovakia and East Germany and they told me awful stories of the Russians. One guy's sister was stuck in Russia, because of the way the border was drawn after the war, and she told him about some of the ridiculous ways of the Soviet system. My brother joined the Canadian military and he spent time in Moscow. He liked the people but he said that he'd never want to live the way that the Russian people had to. In 1972, Canada and Russia played an historical hockey series against one another. The first 4 games were played in Canada and the last 4 games in the Soviet Union. The one GLARING thing that I saw, as did others, was the Soviets soldiers, stationed everywhere in the Soviet hockey arena. All armed with machine guns. I would imagine that the Russian people, watching the games on TV, noticed that there weren't any soldiers with machine guns in the Canadian arenas. That's not propaganda. That's a fact.

@@joebrewer4529 Indeed, I always noticed something odd about 1935, how a democrat started socialism, and it never seemed to end. Then every time a democrat gets into office, America always sees a spike in national debt. Huge welfare systems with money not always being accounted for. It seems like the great depression was used, everything from music all the way to politics started getting divisive and centered. I was watching a video wherein 1935 during blackouts no one would riot or loot, then suddenly in the 1960s when blackouts happened in democrat cities looting became widespread. Something happened after WW2, something big whether political or not, and it's showing its face here again. Things got a little normalized during the cold war*, but the effects still show. Which I believe tells us a lot about the standard issues.
@@joebrewer4529 Fitting you should mention that after democrats attempted so hard to defend movies like "cuties", or how they avoid publishing police raids on child trafficking. I think the explicit material is a byproduct of the mafia, and gang-like ideology the democrats foster to fuel a low educated voting system. Slavery 2.0. Welfare, e.g. communism is one key to a bigger locked door of control. Just like how democrats were all on the list to the island full of child actors. Or how Biden's own kid is in literal explicit videos with minors, yet has to be arrested.

Also the identities in question do not have the capacity to commit genocide because they are not influential enough. Almost 12 years ago my father traveled to a very poor rural village of my country, Guatemala, to promote a business project that could gave a lot of job opportunities.
Be cautious.

This is one of the most awful catastrophes in human history, which was created artificially by russians, and caused millions of deaths, but there are so few people who know about it... just imagine starving to death in one of the most efficient agrarian countries such as Ukraine, because communists where forcibly take all food from your family that you raised on your own land.

@Djdjcjf Nfjsjxjcj Ah. We're going there, are we?
@Djdjcjf Nfjsjxjcj Because your opening premise was that it was because of them that fewer people knew about the Holodomor genocide, when in fact quite a lot of those very people died alongside their gentile neighbours and many more evacuated from the area because of it. (Also, it was Stalin, not them, who tried to conceal knowledge of it and their relationship with him was, to say the least, remote.)
Also, there's nothing "semi-false" about the fact that they've been victims (but if there were, there would be more emphasis on their presence in the Ukraine around the time of the Holodomor genocide, but as is evident from this conversation, it's rarely focused on).

This is legitimately scary in light of what is happening today.

Makes me think of Cain staring at what Abel has and feeling sorry for himself and turning to murder.
That is EXACTLY how it manifests! Brilliant insight into not only the human frailty of resentment and jealousy but to the incredible power of biblical narrative to incise into our nature...
To add to that, the reason God was more happy about the other brother was that he always offered up the best things he had, whereas Cain only gave what he wanted to give and kept the rest for himself.
He had no concept of what murder even was
A profoundly keen observation.

It seems like the great depression was used, everything from music all the way to politics started getting divisive and centered. I was watching a video wherein 1935 during blackouts no one would riot or loot, then suddenly in the 1960s when blackouts happened in democrat cities looting became widespread. Try to get anyone on the Left to watch Jordan Peterson or anyone else who is making sense, and they will sneer at you and call you a racist. Believe me, I've tried. It's really depressing.
Making sense is racist. Thinking for yourself is racist. Being a white person is racist. Disagreeing with me is racist.
The only salvation from your racism is voting for democrats, or self-forever-sleep.
You racist.
(Sarcasm, for those who may be slightly tone deaf)
Don't argue with subhumans.
Shut up, subhuman!
Got my girlfriend to watch Jordan Peterson’s interview with Cathy Newman. However, I think she was stuck on Cathy’s side of the argument and didn’t really listen what Jordan was accurately saying in the interview
When you forget or erase history, it will repeat itself. When Christ called us sheep (in a loving way) HE MEANT IT.
Christ called people sheep because they followed him bleating nonsense.
@@mick7557He was the one who spoke nonsensical parables. His followers followed him, even without understanding him.
Wow this aged very well.
I really appreciate that Jordan uses examples of 'social justice' from the Russian / Soviet history - everybody should be aware what it is to live in a SJW / communistic paradise
The most important message for the world to hear here. The age old battle between those who believe in Collectivism because they haven’t thought it all the way through, and those who understand individual liberty and the sanctity of the soul. 🙏
It must be terrifying being JBP, knowing this and then watching it happen in real time.
This was the years ago. It's 2021 as I'm watching. And everything is playing out just as he said. Hopefully he and the other great thinkers can stop this terrible thing from happening.
"Kulaks" remind you of anyone...'you didn't build that' ...
This sure explains a lot.
"It's not thought through very well"
Oof, well that's an understatement
I am from Ukraine and that's exactly the same thing my grandparents were telling about. Thought I must tell even more. Those people, mostly russians also robbed houses and if they found some food hidden they executed people. This part of the story is too important not to mention
Amazing how in just 3 years we're seeing this today. Wild
Anyone here after/during the riots?
@geezusispan lol🤣🤣🤣
I hope all these students realize how fortunate they were to take Dr. Peterson's class.
This explains a lot about the craziness going on recently. People forgot the lessons of history.
Like it’s happening now in South Africa.
He has a grasp of history which is rapidly fading in general. At a time where we need it most. SJWs are repeating this process right now.
This may well be the most important seven minutes of film anyone will watch in 2020.
