VW Beetle 1776cc on Dyno making good power. Engine Spec below.

  • Engine spec:
    1776cc 69mm x 90.5mm
    AS dual relief case, opened to 90.5 blueprinted, full flowed. Silverline bearings.
    VW forged crank, 8 doweled, CB chromoly lightened flywheel, HD gland nut.
    AA 5.4” forged chromoly I-beam rods, ARP bolts.
    Engle 120 cam, CB straight cut gears, Scat lube a lobe followers.
    Stage 1 Kennedy cover with Kush lock.
    30mm oil pump and Gene Berg pressure relief cover.
    Mahle 90.5mm B&P Blueprinted, Teflon buttons.
    CB Panchito heads with match ported manifolds, CC’d to 49.
    OG rockers with Scat solid shaft kit.
    Chromoly cut length pushrods.
    Dellorto 40mm DRLA with K&N filters, CSP carb linkage.
    CB slimline sump with welded pickup and Scat billet sump plate.
    Compression ratio of 8.7:1.
    Bosch 009 with Pertronix module. Pertronix coil with Silicon HT leads.
    Standard doghouse cooling.
    CSP highflow exchangers and Vintage Speed Stainless exhaust.
    Assembled and blueprinted by me, balanced and machined by T&L engineering.

    Nice motor you've got there! Something to note that; even if you meticulously balance everything you have to still limit the engine at around 5500 rpm to sustain realibility and looking like the dyno pull you're aware with this. W110 would be more suitable choice with the same compression ratio or even more like 9.0:1. With that you could get away with using stock lightweight aluminium pushrods. 8.7:1 with w120 is a bit lazy due to the duration that cam has. Nonetheless enjoy!

    110 is impressive for a 1776 But I am not sure why with what you have in that you didnt go 74 stroke. probably could have gotten 125 or 130 with the same setup and 5.325 rods.

      @@Mikefngarage Thanks for the input Mike, its a case of what we had/making use of the parts on the bench. The bug pulls hard but I do prefer the Engle FK series cams. The 120 needs RPM. J 🙂
