Given +2 pts for a bingo line and center is not a free space, some quick maths:
    - Max Total Points is 33. Anybody getting 17 points wins.
    - If anybody has a diagonal bingo, anybody getting 15 points wins.
    - If you have a diagonal bingo, getting 12 squares wins.
    - If you have a diagonal bingo plus another bingo, getting 11 squares wins.
    - If your opponent has a diagonal bingo, but you block additional bingos, total points is 27. You getting 14 squares wins immediately.
    - If no bingo lines are possible, total points is 25, 13 squares wins.
    - If bingos, but no diagonal bingo is possible, the bingo differential shifts the squares needed to win by -1/+1. So if you have one bingo and they can't get a bingo then to win you need 12 squares or they need 14 squares. If you have one bingo and they can still get one bingo, then the differential is 0 and you need 13 squares to win.
    Important Realizations:
    - Any diagonal bingo means the opponent cannot get any bingos.
    - Any non-diagonal bingo means the opponent cannot get perpendicular bingos.
    - If the opponent has a diagonal bingo, it takes at least 6 squares to block additional bingos.

An idea that might be fun is creating a group of people who could make specific boards for specific rando seeds. That way it could be a like a ‘cultivated’ board with dedicated synergies and or sneaky placed weapons or items that could benefit the player who takes the time to check certain shops or areas

Im a fan of this structure. Having lines makes you have to make some split second calls. Like you might debate if stopping your opponent from getting a line might be worth it. But if lines win, then you dont have a choice, you either stop them or lose.

I did some math to help with the rules for this format.
The number of points someone has to get to guarantee a win depends a lot on the state of the board. It's possible for someone to guarantee a win with 13 points if they block off all of the bingo lines but never achieve bingo themselves. At 12 points the game is always winnable for both parties.
On the other hand, the highest number of points needed to guarantee a win is 17. It is entirely possible to get 16 points and still lose. One example of this is if someone takes the two left columns and two squares from the middle column. They'd have 12 total squares and 2 bingo lines, making a total of 16 points, but it would still be possible for the opponent to take the two right columns and all 3 remaining squares in the middle column.
There is no way to get 17 points and still lose, so 17 points is a guaranteed win.
It's probably pretty easy to program something to automatically tell the casters/players whether a game is still winnable for both players. I'd normally offer to do it myself, but I've got a lot of stuff going on and can't. Still, you could probably hire a programmer to do it pretty easily.

Okay, but Fextra is just a wiki run by people that can be wrong. What is their criteria for determining who is an invader? Since Ensha doesn't invade your world (no message saying so) and you don't get an "invader vanquished" message, that's pretty damning evidence. Being a red NPC doesn't automatically make you an invader.

I like the idea behind this game type, but feel it needs maybe more options giving bonus points to help make it work (making a block of 4 squares means extra points or something) otherwise it does seem like it mostly turns into 13 squares wins anyway

In case you didn’t know, the argument was that first-to-13 is not “correct” anymore, since there is now more than 25 possible points. It’s entirely possible for your opponent to get 13 points while you can still beat them with 14 points in certain scenarios.
But from a viewer standpoint, it can be confusing, so I think first-to-13 is what’s going to happen when the season actually starts.

Since you want to do teams anyway, have you considered adding the seamless co-op mod? It would certainly require better team coordination, specially with the way warping works in it but it could be interesting, a team deciding to tackle the same objective together because it will actually be faster or splitting up to do separate objectives knowing it will be harder but give them the boost they need if they succeed

How about making it a point based Tournament alltogether. As in: You complete Match 1 with 10 points (lost) and Match 2 with 15 points (won) you have 25 points. And the contestant that has the most points at the end wins.

I could be wrong but with the points system I feel it would make more sense to play to an actual point value rather then board completion. Like first to 10 points wins, which would be either 10 squares or a bingo (7) + 3 squares. But even then it might still just turn out like regular bingo so... idk.
Edit: having finished the vid now my comment is kinda pointless. I'll have to see how the 13 points match goes.

To be perfectly fair to both Domo and Aggy, Ensha, to me, is an invader, so it should have counted towards the mark, BUT, feeling it's meant to be a surprise when Ensha comes out and attacks you, they felt it was more immersive to not have the text, therefore, according to Domo's guidelines, he doesn't count.
In the end, I just came to see Aggy schmove.

Borealis isn't really that bad. Just kinda tanky, and super defensive. You can at least survive the frostbite like it's nothing. Eckzykes on the other hand , fuck that one. Super fast rot build up, and it does the same damage as the lake of rot. Niether are particularly hard, but i'd rather deal with Borealis' larger health pool than Eczykes stupid rot.

I have a fun idea for a bingo format: A square is worth different amounts of points to each player, depending on how many squares owned by the player is connected to it in a straight line.
More specifically, in the beginning all squares are worthless to both players but once you own a square, each square connected to this one becomes worth 2 points for you, since if you own two connected squares, each will be worth one point. Interesting patterns of clumps and lines are worth a lot in this setup; a straight line of 4 is worth 12 points, and so is a square of 4 squares. However, the square immediately at the end of a line of 4 is worth 8 points to this player. Also, connecting islands of your colour is worth tons of points. The more squares are owned, the more points are in play at any given time, so this would create a very dynamic play, where each won square changes the layout of the game and one has to reconsider ones priorities. To do this right, the bingo board would need to have two tokens for each square, showing the potential point gain for each player, and a total count of points, so both players can strategize properly.
Who do I need to share this idea with for implementation?

  • @user-ng4wt9bg4w

Ensha is an NPC invader. It wouldn’t make sense any other way since why would you invade him when you get the medallion.
Regardless, Domo made a rule set, but that is flawed and doesn’t make sense. Ensha should be considered an invader by this rule set, just like how he is on the Fextra wiki.
On the other hand, Ensha is already in your world. But so is Millicent when she invades you in the swamp.
It’s an odd one and given how Aggy already had done it as a fourth and interrupted his cycle is annoying and makes us jump to conclusions. I still think he should be considered and invader but I suppose for this challenge and since it’s pretty much a given that he invades anyway (maybe not so much now with graces) it’s makes it even more convoluted.
    Have a good day all.

This rule set just isn't it the old way of majority win but a bingo beats that is best. Makes it more competitive and strategic.

  • @ethanbowers9619
    @ethanbowers9619 3 місяці тому

huh, if points dont affect the overall rankings and only matter in the game itself then the rules stay basically the same just without bingos being an instant win.
If each square is worth 1 point, and getting a row gives an extra point then once someone has majority(13 points minimum) then the only way for the other person to win is 2 lines AND another square. SO if you have majority + blocked all bingos the other player cant win.

Blocking a line decreases the points to win by 1, so honestly, include diagonals.
That makes it 25 to win, - 1 per line blocked. You could implement that fairly easily in code, as well.

    • @Deadgye
      @Deadgye 3 місяці тому

Diagonals should be included. Also, getting any line means your opponent can't get any perpendicular or diagonal lines. If each line gives you 2 extra points then:
17 points wins no matter what distribution.
13 points wins if no lines are possible for either side.
