In 1991 and 1992, I used King Videos for my PPL and IR, scored 100% on both written exams. The Kings are my adoptive flying parents...
Similar here. 100% agree. Around then, they had VCR tapes for ground school. Amazing to see them once again. !!
I would like to thank you and your husband for what you do. I took one of your courses Private Pilot back in 1988 and passed and got my private license thanks to that course. This was back when the courses were made on VHS tapes... that was a long time ago.
Same for me, same year even. Great stuff!
Same for me. Martha and John got me through my private and instrument written exams. Both are great instructors.
Hope to have a story like this one day.
I took King Schools instrument course in 2001. I passed with 98% the FAA test. It really helped me pass my check ride first try too. John and Martha are simply the best.
Thanks for sharing!
Where can you take a practice test ?
I am not an aviator but this video just appeared on my mainpage and brought me back to my Flight Simulator 2004 days. The very first sim I've ever used... I remember how I had watched your training videos with big enthusiasm. I couldn't make it happen in real life but those were some of the most exciting days of my flight simulation life. Thank you guys for those memories and greetings from Turkey.
I honestly love how Martha and John explain in detail any information they provide, I can’t ask for a better explanation when it comes to aviation training.
I remember buying my first King Video in 1999 before I started taking flying lessons. Good to see the Kings still at it, the brand is strong.
Like the way you folks present the material... You always help me remember what i forget...
This was super helpful! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
John and Martha have been there for me since my PPL... Cleared for Takeoff thru to Cleared for Hire. I truly appreciated the detailed content 👏👏
Our pleasure!
"Dropping down from the clouds, just hoping to find a piece of assphalt." 🤣🤣
That was indeed funny : 😄 😆
I think we all enjoy dropping down and finding a piece of assphalt.
Bro! I laughed like crazy!
So awesome King Schools is still at it! I learned so much from them as a kid in FS2000... how far we've come! :)
Martha and John,
You guys are simply the best.
I’ve been watching your videos for over twenty years!
Thanks for getting me through my ratings!
All my best,
Doug R
King Schools are the Gold Standard. For instruction. The downside is, too many people who shouldn't be pilots can understand the information - that's not right.
That slow, methodical approach of teaching has worked for me time and time again. King is the only way to go for me. Also met them once at KHPN, when I parked next to them on the ramp. Said hello to John and he couldn't have been nicer.
Thank You John and Martha King. I met you once in Indianapolis Indiana. I felt I was meeting royalty without the curtsy and bowing. I am a cfii now and used your training videos exclusively because you keep it fun. I appreciate you so much and I suggest your tools to my students now. Love you guys to pieces.
all the best neal punta gorda florida ...not missing the cold
Wonderful! Thanks Neal!
Congratulations on your excellent communication skills! I'm just an aviation enthusiast and loved to watch your explanation.
Hugs from Rio de Janeiro - Brazil!
She’s like the bob ross of approach charts.
I was about to make that exact comment, then looked down and you'd beat me by a week.
Bang on ..but bob ross is even more soothing..
Tom Rohan WAY more soothing
@@Heyemeyohsts true that :)
I'm gunna paint a happy little runway here with some VASIs, and if you don't see the runway or those lights I'm going to paint a happy little building at the end of the runway.
This lady and her husband made learning so much fun...I really enjoyed the lessons. They got me through some really difficult times in the pursuit of my certificates...thanks a whole bunch Martha and Bob, I miss and love you both.
Martha and John...
For years king schools provided me knowledge . The best as always
Back in the mid-90's I was working on my PPL and came across your teaching materials. Suffice it to say they were the best in helping me pass my written and oral exams. There is one example that I remember today that made me laught the first time I heard it, but I never forgot the lesson. It was about why there are two height values shown on a chart. I think it was your husband who said "The first is the height on the altimeter when you hit the tower, the second is how far you will fall" (or words to that effect). I never looked at a tower the same ever since :-)
Thank you for your contribution to aviation. Watching this short piece makes me consider working on passing the IFR written test. Not that I could fly IFR now, but just because I'd like to see if I could.
Justin Hull wow what was flight training like in the 90s
I'm really glad to find this channel. I still have my King IFR course on VHS from 1996. They helped me a ton with training and passing the exam, as well as understanding everything in IFR flying. It's probably about time I upgraded to a current version!
That was perfect. I've watched other videos like this and were not as clear. King rules!
King Schools, simply the best!!!
You have a very calming voice. Hats off to you aNd your team for sharing your knowledge. Stay safe Madam!
Thank you! You too!
I may never afford to fly a real airplane, but it's good to dream and learn about it, I have followed King Schools since I was a child in the 90s. I think of them as my Aviation Parents! At least I can apply what I learn from them in MSFS2020!
Thank you so much from Spain. As an Aeronautic Engineering Master's Degree student, this is extremely helpful for visualization :)
Goddess of explanation 👏👏👏
Glad it was helpful!
Another valuable piece of advice from our favorite aviation school instructors, thank you for sharing this with us all 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Since enjoying the training series during the good ol' VHS days, the new HD 16:9 format looks and sounds great!
Verry well explaned ! Would have love to see this video when i was learning to fly.
I am not a pilot but I do a bit of casual flight simming. Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Thank you.
My flying career started in 1990 watching John and Martha . I even met them at their office and studio in person . 30 + years I still remember their VHS tapes Which I got to see their hundreds of duplicator machines making the videos via a personal tour by John. He treated me like family ". They are the King and Queen of General Aviation ,
Another great video, thank you for taking the time to compile and publish.
Thank you so much for these informative videos, I love watching them. Keep up the great work and hope to see more videos soon.
She uses the old school term let down and I love it.
I love your videos Mr. & Mrs. King! I'm currently studying to become a pilot and I have your ground school courses for the PAR and IRA tests.
Thanks for your comments! Let us know if you need any help with those tests.
10 10 how as your experience with King’s online ground school ?
Merry Christmas Martha 🌲🎅😁
And thankyou for building up our knowledge through out all those years.
GOD bless you🌷
Happy holidays!
I love soooooo much this channel ♥️ am not a pilot right now, but this channel makes me feel am a pilot..... And my dream is to become a pilot ♥️🙏
Yep, when your active n current, all these things stay with you; glad to see the're still sharp at their age!!
Indeed. They're busier than most people I know!
This was a great video, very helpful!
Thanks Ms. Your english is so easy to understand!
Thank you Norman!
excellent content as always. Keep it up! I'm working on my CFII right now, getting some notes on how you teach these. Thanks!
Put your cursor on the 0:14 mark and repeat just on the 0:14 mark. Not exactly what I'm looking for when descending through the clouds, but that's exactly what I was looking for at the night club!
King Schools, what else can you say? They were the original media based flight instruction team, that set a gold standard for flight instruction. Like to meet them someday and say hi!
Nice summary, and well presented!
- Martin
King schools reminds me of Flight simulator 2000
I thought I was the only one!
So true!
😅😂😂😂hahahaja this is so hilarious hahah
So clear. I'm just a hobbyist
yay it’s Martha!
i love your english , it is so easy
*thanks for the quick overview reminder!* 👍
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed.
More videos like this one please!
Wow best lecture!!!!!
I still have my IFR course from 1991 on VHS.
I love your Videos..Thanks..
So nice of you
thank you for sharing -- please share more
Excellent! Thank you :)
Thank you Martha.
Beautiful
Are you guys going to do the intro video for FS2020?
Just found this! I had all the VHS tapes through private, inst, comm
I’m thinking of going to the states to achieve an ifr rating with these people….
Thx
The note remain within 10 nm, does this mean from the FAF, the runway approach end or the airport center? I always thought the FAF but I’ve heard conflicting answers.
Great video ma'am - but I have a question - in my local aerodrome charts, it says ILS Z RWY 28 (VAPO) AND for missed Approach Turn RIGHT on heading 290° and climb to 4500’. Then
climbing turn RIGHT to join VOR hold at 6000’ or as directed by ATC. It does not mention any climb rate or VSpeed. Even for the other charts- VOR Y RWY 28 It says :Turn RIGHT on heading 290° and climb to 4500’. Then
climbing turn RIGHT to join VOR hold at 6000’ or as directed by ATC. Similarly for the CAT II ILS Approach (Not alphabet) with same missed approach instructions. About 2-2.5NM straight out of RWY 28, there are terrainous mountainous regions elev- 1,230 ft
Is there any standard climb rate?
very good
Whoa, whoa, whoa... Im totally new to flightsim and Im looking for some really basic info regarding navigation using both GPS and VOR (and other ways to navigate...stars?), but also how to read charts like ILS or LOC, knwoing the differens between them etc. Just wanted to learn the basic so I know what Im doing in a simulator. Any suggstions of links to visit?
How do you know if the IFR charts you download from the web are up to date (without going into payware) ? because i've seen some frequencies that have changed over time
I would pay a reputable source. It's like insurance.
What about does airport that don’t have approach plates?
Then there are no instrument procedures available to fly
"...hoping you're gonna find a 'piece of assphalt)" haha was that deliberate? classic.
Hi !
What's the maximum age to get a private or comercial pilot ?
I'm 67 years old !
Kind regards !
There is no maximum age for attaining a private or commercial pilot certificate set forth in FARs, only minimum age for each. You must be able to pass a third class medical exam by an AME, as well as written exam and flight test following required training. Good luck, it's never too late to start.
Do we know when the FAA is officially making all Z approaches the lowest minimums?
I want to be a pilot but I feel like there’s a lot that you have to memorize!! 🥵
Just like anything, it takes time. But, you will surprise yourself with how much you can retain if you work at it.
@@KingSchools I really appreciate you responding! I will be going through Kings school for training for sure!
I wish the missed approach required climb performance was just given as Ft/Min with a Groundspeed limitation. Much easier to calculate and monitor than calculating your ROC required at a particular groundspeed. That or the other "cross waypoint/ DME distance at or above xxxx ft"
Wow !!
"Seeing a piece of ass..phalt" is my favorite sentence from now on
Do they have vors anymore ..they took ours apart years ago .
There are some out there some where...Im sure.
Epic
Is John King out of the game now? ( due to age/ physical condition) i know he's gotten quite old... appears Martha still has her ratings and is active.
RNP= Required Navigation Performance
0:12 gave me some real childish giggles
DiCola119 “And hoping...you’re going to find a piece of ass.......phalt.” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@RealJackHQ i was wondering if anybody else had caught that xD
I knew couldn't be the only one!
Nobody uses Jepessen in US I guess..
"You're going to find a piece of as...phalt". That was no accident.
; )
“One of the biggest challenges of flying is letting down from the clouds and hoping you can find a piece of ass......”
King Schools: Androgyny is who we are!
Damn, aviation really is complicated.
Z
Too much information. I couldn't focus. But thanks for the video.
She said piece of assfault!!!!
