Agreed! Brilliant! Xx I’ve enjoyed every performance of this rendition on the tube! Seriously, loved everyone of them! Pushing 70. I know my music, worked in the business for awhile, lived my life with the greats and have seen most legends! How lucky, Love you Gary! Genuine, true talent. Xxxxxx
Saw this dude at Glastonbury. A truly class act. The crowd really got into it, chanting his name and everything. No one really knew him beforehand either. I assume they responded to the same thing I did. A performer who you can see feels every chord, every drum beat, every string on the bass. It's rare in this generation, nevermind the non-pop "real" music he plays. Amazing voice too.
The first time that I saw Gary Clark jr ... I knew that he was the real deal. Please live strong, live long because this generation needs this real music.
At the 8:26 mark...his left hand on the neck of the guitar...the fingers look like they are a big ass spider jumping around in a fire....all over the friggin place...he’s so dam talented...he’s my favorite performer right now...has been for months...I listened to this version and the live one....on stage when he had the mirrored sunglasses on....approximately 10 times each...every day....can’t get enough “Catfish” and I hope “my train don’t leave “ and everything...love it
Catering for the foo fighters concert in Los Angeles at the staple center in LA, and this guy was the opener. I'll be honest I didn't know who he was, but after this song I'll never forget his name. Gary's music is so damn good live!
I think many of us can agree that this recording session should be in their music library. It's sounds so raw compared to the album version, which, here and there sound a little over produced. This is great stuff!
Saw him and his band twice in Brazil and that was totally mind blowing!!! I was so astonished... Really: can't hear his guitar without going crazy... Proudly a big fan long time...
Pure Emotion - when an artist and his creation meet on a different level and even more so, can take the listener along with them - that's just pure genius - - - think I'll listen to it again, right now !
This guy is the real deal I found him soon after I found Doyle Bramhall ll and I haven't seen such talent in awhile . I can't get enough of Gary Clark jr his voice is great and i love how he plays . If you haven't already check out Doyle Bramhall ll
GCJ rocks hard. Got to hang out with him at a festival we both played in Northern Spain after slamming a toilet door in to him while he was having a piss. We mainly talked about the Epiphone Casino as we both use the same one (The Cherry Red one.) I was drunk as hell. He is a very nice dude and actually pretty shy. His show at the festival was killing too. Looking forward to more GCJ in the future as he is just starting to find his sound.
Sure the world makes us all feel like we are lost in it from time to time but it doesn't have to be like that. Great music to fit this uneasy feeling but there is a reason god sent a savior to this world. We don't have to let the "bright lights" and the "big city" go to our head. Jesus called his followers to be the lights of the world, not to be overtaken by the world. In it, not of it. Gary is trying to fill "what is hallow" with things that wont last. God will last forever.
Woohoo! Pedernales studio - I knew I recognized it. It's Willie Nelson's (nephew's) studio, and he sits back and to the right of the drummer to record all of his vocals.
Haha, you have no idea mate. I listen to Hendrix almost everyday. And I know he won't be as good as Hendrix, when I say he's the next Hendrix, i mean he's one of the best guitarist's around today. So next you think before you speak, so shut your trap.
You make me laugh mate. How old do you think I am 13? I have listen to his Blues album about 50 times, I know how good it is. And you de realise that it's just covers on the album. And you sound like a complete tool when you call him god. I know he is one of the greatest guitarist that has ever lived, but mate I'm sorry to say but someone will come along and beat him. And you have no idea on my music taste. And all blues songs come from the same cords you dickhead, and if GC. Jr ripping Hendrix off, than Hendrix is ripping off every other blues guitarist's.
Just as long as they keep that authentic feeling without to much over production. I love albums that have that gritty real feeling, if you know what I mean, almost analog.
+Johnny “Axman” Murdock It's a 57 tweed deluxe behind the lamp at 0:06 or possibly a bassman but looks too small to my eyes to be the bassman, would have to be an amp of that period design regardless though as no other amps growl like that.
I'm hearing bit more Ben Harper here than Jimi Hendrix. Love them both. Don't get me wrong, Gary Clark Jr. is a much needed talent. Jimi was no fan of comparisons. All he wanted to do is jam and stay true to the music. I could see Jimi jamming with Gary. That would be awesome !!
It's absolutely amazing how much talent he has. Not only one of the best guitarists of our generation, but with a voice that gives you chills.
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Artists like Gary give me hope for the music of this generation
I completely agree. I wish more people my age listened to this stuff.

The segue from "Blak and Blu" to "Bright Lights" was super cool.
"You gonna know my name by the end of the night". FTW.

Such an absolute trip. I love it when artists make an intro to their songs and create a whole journey with it, and he did an amazing job of just that.
Gary Clark. Jr I love his music because my uncle play that music when li was little and I love it today from the GCJ I can listen to all night.
Gary's music is a breath of fresh air in an age of over-produced, genetically modified, "not fit for human consumption" music we hear on the radio.
Finally a real soul blues singer in the house real soulful nice to hear
Great sound and excellent performance. Shades of jimi hendrix, black keys, but definitely his own man.
Mr. Feelings! Very good! Congratulations and Long Life to Garry
i agree
The Ultimate version of this song.
This song is SO much better here than on the studio album.
Live album version off the chain Mayan
Man! What I really love about his playing is that it's not about being the fastest player. But the feeling of every note when he hits them ! 🔥🔥🔥🎸
u have understood. best wishes.
Serious? Where was he hiding 'til now?!
This is so beautiful.

En Buenos Aires - Argentina dio vuelta al publico con su sonido y voz, increíble
I saw him live a month ago and he did the Blak and Blu intro thing, this is the only other time I've seen him do this
WOW!

My guitar wishes I looked at it like that.
Whoaa..
این پسر استاد به تمام معناست و آینده و تنها شانس کنونی بلوز
sorry, i cannot read
He's the next Hendrix!

Yea
Hard, hard...
Gary's album doesnt even come close to doing his live performance justice, hope they can find a good producer for the next record
Just as long as they keep that authentic feeling without to much over production. I love albums that have that gritty real feeling, if you know what I mean, almost analog.
The album is still fantastic.
+Scott Moreira Agree, saw him in Philly. Amazing
I agree. it is a great album, but it takes a lot of the blues feel out that he did have in the live concert
Estoy loco o hace el solo de Jimi Page Stairway to heaven?? (07:42)
OOH MY GOD........THE NEXT BIG THING from austin,tx. area.
fucking stellar performance
Every time I watch this I see the Galaxy SIII and I am sick of it ]:
What kind of epiphone is that?
I believe it is an epiphone casino elitist 1965 vintage sunburst model
+Dane Burns okay thanks; I feel like it's been upgraded with higher quality parts though
Wyatt Martin nah epi's back in the day were amazing, go look up the price of original 1960s epiphones. but I agree the new stuff is crap
Fantastic!! anyone knows what model of drums is that??
it´s a C&C Player Date, probably in "Bonzo" sizes
Thanks!!! It's great!
Buena entrada
What was I doing before Gary Clark Jr: Not listening to music; What am I doing now: listening to music
The is next jimi wow wow wow. Let's not get ahead of ourselves
Can you say me' us this'll a Fenda or Gibson guitar, es very nice Harmoniy play tic tactics, for me.
It's an epiphone
Lollapalooza!
duuu caralho!!
Check out Robert Randolph and his slide guitar. There are still definite blues in this world.
7:07 Gary’s Formula 1 comin... move out the way...!
Is he using bass amplification for his guitar??
+Eddie “Blaze” Murdock
yeah i think so
+Johnny “Axman” Murdock It's a 57 tweed deluxe behind the lamp at 0:06 or possibly a bassman but looks too small to my eyes to be the bassman, would have to be an amp of that period design regardless though as no other amps growl like that.
***** True that's his live setup mate, but this is a studio they can use what they want, and they tend to for the different tonal variations
7:06 FORMULA 1 STARTS

Awesome! This song rocks, and he is good but I don't think that he is the new Hendrix jaja
"defiantly" or "definitely"? There is a significant difference
