- I thought I was only doing one video for DK Month this year, but then I came up with a real silly idea. Like ultra silly. Let's do this.
Can you beat DKC without touching a single coin? I mean banana?

There is one way to do a fruitless DK run but I have to warn you; the price is dire.
It is grueling and you might not want to look youself in the eyes in the mirror after it.
To do a DK run with 0 fruit collected: Become "that guy" and explain that bananas technically aren' fruit, they are berries, so technically any DK run is a no fruit run.

Rare's dedication to the collect-a-thon is so great that they made it mandatory.
This is inexcusable, Rare just made some really bad level designs all over the place.
How so? Not being able to skip all the bananas is in no way bad level design.

in DKC there are two tricks in speedrunning!
you can press y multiple times in the first versions of this game on the map after level 1 to get the level 5 of world 3 in that level there's another trick where you can go to the second level of world 6!
this trick is really hard and i never found a way to do it even without touching bananas!
but it is techinically possible!
try to do the minimun of bananas!
also DKC Challenges are hard/almost impossible to do perfectly!

This is different enough from the other “no *insert collectible here*” runs to be pretty entertaining
There are actually several glitches in DKC that lets you bypass the banans in 1-2. A lot of people have mentioned the warp, which there are several, but also several glitches within the level itself that works. Such as a Superjump, which will let you jump as high as possible, which can skip bananas in many levels in this challenge. Some other levels are trickier, however, but they are also doable.

I spent my winter break doing a minimal banana pickup + enemy kill run for all 3 games and, while impossible not to pick up some nanas or smash a few Krems, it's super fun to get your count as low as possible! My absolute favorite level ended up being Springin' Spiders from DKC3, just bc of how tricky it was to time all the team up tosses.
I'm always happy when you upload, there's something about you that screams positive and good vibes. Keep up the good work!

I'm not sure how far you can get in DKC3 after 1-2, but I'm pretty confident you can zip up at the part just before the bananas and then reach the warp barrel.
As for DKC, there's a wrong warp glitch that lets you skip most of the game. You don't even have to beat 1-2 to access it.
1'15 I thought I heard Rupee Rampage and thought of the Zelda Universe
The DKC2 water level you got stuck on, you can JUMP at the very start when you enter the level before you start falling. I'm not sure if this is cartridge specific or not, but I used to do it all the time, so i could glide down with Dixie to get ALL the bananas. This method could probably be used to avoid the bananas.
What about Returns or Tropical Freeze?
Both of those games have multiple barrel sections with unavoidable bananas so you can't beat those like this either.

Next year you should do the No KONG challenge for DKC1 and 2; y'know, when the style of challenge is even further out of fashion and you run the risk of doing a challenge that might take you more than 6 minutes.

3:20 I recommend you do that on Nintendo Switch Online to make it easier, mash down on the D-Pad and hold right on the Left Joystick to make it easy.

you know that in the first DKC there is a glitch which warps you to the third world by spamming all buttons while donkey kong moves from the first to the second level in the first Overworld? That could have gotten you further ...
