My dryer runs but does not heat. I've found a lot of dust in the exhaust , I cleaned it up and tried again but still no heat. Control thermistor has 42 K ohm. is it good or should I replace it ?

How do you know which to install it? I don't see a positive or negative label on the part

Thermistors do not have a 'polarity'. You can install them in either orientation.
