Melissa I have used Aveda Color Conserve shampoo for over 9 yrs. but I noticed after shampoing one day it was in tight wads so I added Aveda leave-in conditioner but as time went on it wasn't working (mostly a head full of conditioner) so I totally switched to another product Carol's Daughter, so watch out as time goes on that this doesn't happen to you!
Great video! I love the curls and it doesn't look to terribly hard to achieve. Even for someone like myself who has no hair styling skills (lol). You are a stunningly beautiful woman. @@Melissa55 I wish you would stop claiming that your hair is naturally curly. I tagged you on one of my photos on IG to show you the difference. MY hair is naturally curly and it is not easy to maintain! To get my hair to look like yours I’d have to flat iron it. So yes I find it insulting that you’ve claimed on a few videos that your hair is “naturally curly”. Wavy perhaps, IF you discount all of your childhood pictures you’ve shown with your straight hair. NOT trying to be rude Melissa, I really am not, but it is misleading. And us real naturally curl haired women who HAVE REAL struggles can tell the difference. Just be honest, that or just OWN that your hair is wavy and NOT curly. There is a difference. Take care ✌🏻

“Insecure about your hair?!” Noooo Melissa…I’m a “hair fanatic” lol, and I always admire how yours looks…whether curly, straight, up or down…always so beautiful! Thanks for the tutorial…I use a curling iron always to make smoother waves in my hair (dries kind of frizzy otherwise unless it has product in it.) But I don’t usually do the pin curl, let it cool method. I’ve held the curl in my hand to let it cool sometimes but this is better. My hair is your length & thick, so it’ll take me forever to do my whole head, but usually I can get away with top layers & let the underneath stay naturally wavy. Anyway, thanks again, and nothing at all to be “insecure” about with your beautiful hair! :)
Well, I really appreciate that. I had a mother, who was not only extremely critical of me, but had much better hair than I did, so she let me know constantly that I had bad hair. Lol. So that probably carried over to adulthood. Yes with you having thick hair it’s going to take a long time to do it so it might be something you want to do for special occasions probably. It was me who asked for the tutorial- thank you much! I have the Aveda Moss Sap products, a 1” iron, and just received the duck bill clips, so I am ready to go! If mine looks half as good as yours I will be happy :-)

Also, how do you wear your hair for sleep? I put mine in a big pony tail on the top of my head, but it does pull out some of the curl so I’m thinking you may have a different procedure. Looking marvelous, thanks again 😘

I never thought to pin the curls as they cool down. That's a great idea! 👍🏼
I went on the hunt for a few months trying to find a really good hair spray line and I finally settled on Kenra. I like the volume spray 25, the platinum Boosting spray foam (its not very foamy) and the working spray 14 as a finishing spray. I did get the fast dry 8 and the thermal styling spray 19 to use while curling my hair, but I haven't used them yet. I can come back and let you know if they're any good if you're interested. 🌺💖

@@Melissa55 so I tried the 8 and 19 sprays. I felt the 8 was too light and not much hold. I did like the 19 very much. I like using the volume 25 in my wet hair before drying then the thermal 19 after its dry to curl and styling using the 25 again. Then finish with the 14 to hold it in place. Hope that's helpful.

I don't know how people use wands with the clamp on it - they make it look so easy. My hair is pretty stick straight and no matter what I do it doesn't hold a curl - it is thick. Love the end look.

Melissa, I've never seen your hair look bad. It's always so stylish and gorgeous. I'll have to grab some of the products that you are using. My hair is baby fine, straight, but the end are a wreck.
I blow it dry, and use velcro rollers just to add some body, but a few hours later, it's just limp.

Melissa your hair looks so pretty with all those curls, I need to get me a curling wand and try this, my hair is your length, can you even believe I’ve never curled my own hair, I have my hair dresser do it every now and then. I tried a couple of times with a curling iron with a clip on it but couldn’t get the hang of it. Quick question, how do you sleep on it without messing up the curls in the morning? Thank you❤. Thanks this has helped ! I have fine wavy hair . If I want to straighten it I have to straighten if I want it curly I have to curl it Since I had covid it thinned ..alot.. 2yrs later come back in have but still drier than before. So maybe it's the protein. I have used other Avada products before so I will give this a try.

I have the same texture hair as you but I can't control my hair it always looks frizzy. will try this hair style and the products. Your hair is spectacular!! do you use a mousse in your hair prior to drying? can you recommend one without the protein? I am having a hard time finding one.

After your video I ordered the same curling iron. I tried it today and it will take some practice. What temperature do you set it to? I put it to the very highest which I think is 410 or maybe 450? I can’t remember now. I have some wave in my hair but much thicker than yours or lots of it. I was just concentrating on not burning my fingers or hand or ears. Ha. I’m not used to a curling iron without a clip. Your hair is gorgeous. You are gorgeous.

Hi Melissa, have you ever tried a cleansing conditioner like WEN by Chaz Dean? I've used it but had to stop bc it was expensive but I really liked it. Also I read where suds in shampoos are not good for our hair. I'm thinking of trying it again and would like your opinion. Just a thought 💜💙💚💛🧡
p.s. My son and DIL and granddaughter also all do the elaborate pumpkins and then post them on FB at night when they're all lit up. They look amazing.

Melissa this is a stunning style on you. You're the reason I'm trying to grow my hair past my shoulders. It seems more versatile with a longer length. How long do you keep it in the clips? Sorry if you answered that and I missed. Also, have you experienced any side effects with the Nioxin spray you use, such as hair growing where you don't want? Thanks for taking time to do this video. I just keep it up as long as I can but at least until it feels cool to the touch. Sometimes, if I do it early, I can leave it up quite a while. But even if you just leave it up until it cools down, which it does very quickly, that helps a whole lot. I have not experienced any hair growth anywhere else. I am pleased with the Nioxin. .
