Great video. I’ve always thought about retiring to Myrtle Beach. It’s a great place and it’s not expensive as some other states. I’m waiting on the housing market crash to purchase there really soon. Please keep me posted on short sales and foreclosures. Thank you.
So glad you enjoyed this video about retiring to Myrtle Beach. Just trying to be helpful I look forward to finding the perfect home at the beach one day. Are you receiving listing alerts from us? If not give our office a call and I will set them up for you so you can look at properties and see the trends. Talk soon
My friend’s cousin just bought a nice old place in Hilton Head, SC. He got a good deal on it because it’s rumored to be “haunted”, but it seems okay according to him.
South Carolina is a great state to retire to. Low cost of living, affordable homes, warm weather year round and low property taxes. Thanks for watching and commenting
Hi Jerry. I landed on your site by accident. I want to say THANK YOU for this WOW INFORMATION. You opened my eyes to an abundance of NEED2KNOW valuable pertinent info when ready to enjoy the elder years opposite of northern states. Thank you! How do I start working with you/ your team.
The problem is that both Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach are heavily congested tourist areas swamping thr roads, traffic ,stores snd restaurants. How many older retirees would want ro deal with that?
@@JerryPinkas I would assume that Florida is definitely much worse than Myrtle Beach, but it could be that Myrtle Beach doesn't have the infrastructure to handle the congestion it faces in tourist season.... Sort of like Lake Chapala or Puerto Vallarta in Mexico.
I am considering a place but I don't drive and I enjoy walking... so not sure but will take a trip out there. I would love a small place at least 2 bedrooms...I prefer to have backyard space... The thing is I'd love to possibly use it as a rental until retirement ...
I live in NJ and can attest to the fact that the property taxes in the state broadly stretch from low to insanely high. My 1360 square foor home is a 3 bed, 1.5 bath with property taxes totalling $4,800 annually. I have no land. The more affluent parts of NJ see property taxes well over $20,000 annually and some in the 30s or even 40s. That is where the celebs and business execs live. Lol. The state average in in the $6,000 range.
I fly in and out of the Myrtle Beach Airport regularly. From simple parking options, straightforward ticketing and an efficient security check area to easily accessible gates, a streamlined baggage claim area, and convenient transportation options, every step of your travel is optimized to provide a great customer experience. I did a video about the airport Video link -> ua-cam.com/video/SDAg65OOBec/v-deo.html
Myrtle Beach is severely undervalued when compared to the easf coast. Here in NJ, it is rare to see ocean front property listes under 1 million. In rehoboth beach, DE those propertys are in the millions. If the myrtly beach listings doubled in price, they wpuld still be cheap.
How about those of us who want to move there but will still be part of the workforce? What are the primary sources of employment for those who aren't ready to retire? Assuming some job opportunities are only seasonal or is it hustling most of the year?
My advice, don’t move here if you have to work.Average rent is 1200 a month and climbing the work around here doesn’t pay well enough for that.Unless your a nurse, doctor, skilled labor,or a lawyer.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Cities that have the worst traffic based on the Traffic Scorecard: Chicago (155 hours lost) Boston (134 hours) New York (117 hours) Philadelphia (114 hours) Miami (105 hours) Los Angeles (95 hours)* San Francisco (97 hours) Washington, D.C. (83 hours) Thats traffic!
Thanks for watching and commenting. The cost of living in South Carolina is 5% lower than the national average. Housing is 19% lower than the national average, while utilities are 8% higher. When it comes to basic necessities such as food and clothing, groceries are around 2% lower than in the rest of the country, while clothing costs 2% lower.
How is cultural life comparing to the big cities north ? Orchestras, museums, universities, research institutions, libraries, festivals? What about top medical institutions for healthcare? Especially in the older age? Plenty of those in the north between Boston and Washington. How does SC Myrtle beach measure up? In the end, how much time can one spend on the beach? There is only one city in SC which is big- Charleston. And once you travel within SC away from the shoreline, the state is incredibly poor and neglected. There is no diversity either in the state. I may be wrong, but this is an impression that I received when I was 4 times in Myrtle beach. Small town U.S.A.
Myrtle was built as a tourist town and still is a tourist town No culture.healthcare in Myrtle beach is laughable.Columbia and Greenville are large cities as well.As far as diversity what do you mean?touristy areas of SC are gonna look super white and old.
