Due to health issues I've had to rely on public housing, but I'm blessed that the apartments where I reside are very nice and were newly renovated about 3 yrs ago. They were actually practically rebuilt. Crime is pretty much non existent. Its quiet and I'm grateful because I know I could be in a much worse situation.

Many of these places need trees, bushes, flowers, playgrounds, outdoor exercise equipment, places to play ball etc. Make them nice for people to live in so they can focus their energy on getting an education or job. They can then move on up or pay a higher rent if they want to stay. Surroundings massively affect you even if you’re not aware of it, particularly when the government deliberately want to make the residents feel inferior. Very good and informative video👏

@Roy Harper. I don’t think you can generalize. I believe most people will make an effort to take care of a nice area - and why not have a place for children to burn off energy, it’s common and good sense to put proper playgrounds, basketball courts etc, when many families can’t afford to pay for kids having hobbies. On the other hand if you get an apartment in a place like the barrack ones in Chattanooga I understand why some might get frustrated over time. Those are honestly identical to the barracks in Auschwitz concentration camp.

@@jollymollyramram9702The projects in the United States had all of that! They had amenities. Even the ones that became notorious like RTH and CG. The PEOPLE living there destroyed them! Stereotyping may be lazy but facts do not lie! I am not viewing all of the poor the same. I am viewing people with certain attitudes and behaviors the same.
Also, the same people ended up trashing the new and nicer apartments and even houses they moved to, after the cities got rid of the projects. I saw this with my own eyes too.
It’s actually very bigoted of people to think that certain people NEED to live next to certain neighborhoods and people in order for that individual to be a decent and responsible person. It’s 2024 and everyone has access to so much information.

Habitat for Humanity is not owned by the government. It's a private program that was created by a non-profit. It's a good program for low-income working people or retired people who buy their own homes. HUD housing in Washington State is livable and some of the housing, especially in rural areas are well-maintained.
The subsidized housing in Vermont consists of renovated buildings and houses. Unfortunately, one person told that drug dealers have become guests of some of the tenants in those buildings. I can't verify whether that is true or not. This was in Brattleboro, Vermont.

It's a racial problem even here in Italy. 99% of people who qualifies for public housing are immigrants, mostly from African or Arabic countries. Apartments in old public housing neighborhoods, where Italian lived when there was no immigration, have all been bought by the tenants themselves and renovated. While still some former Italians tenants, now owners, still lives there, now those neighborhoods are gentrified and the homes there sells for top money. Look, for example, through Google Translate, to neighborhoods like Garbatella or Pigneto in Rome.

There are many videos on public housing in the capital of Austria, Vienna. Fully 75% of the Austrians living in Vienna live in public housing or in government subsidized apartments built and managed by government regulated non-profit companies. This is because the rents are kept reasonable and people earning up to $6,000 in monthly income for a two or more person household are eligible. That means there is a mix of middle class residents and the poor. Needless to say, the buildings are well-maintained, close to public transportation, and have amenities like nearby shopping and parks.

It seems that most things that were created for a good reason almost always get manipulated into something bad. Once they let the inmates in. Theft, drugs, attacks and more always happen. And the good people that were there are afraid to go outside. And sure won't open their mouths against the people doing wrong for fear of repercussions. And then there's the Government, They want people dependent upon them. So they give them hardly enough to make it on, and those people learn to be happy with that.

Please do your research before you put out information that's completely incorrect. The projects were developed as an immediate result to solve homelessness. After the great depression . They mainly wanted to help lower income white people get a leg up and there's that part of the population recover financially they were able to buy houses. At the same time Black people were not allowed to buy. Houses banks was not banks were not loaning black Americans mortgages so they were left with that as the only type of housing available to them in many major cities. So they were not developed for Black people.

NEighbors start being snitches when they get jealous and apartment complexes got some strict rules sometimes to get snitched on for too. Nosy neighbors get mad when I never let them know shyt or dont see me. One even called the cops on me to make sure Im ok. Literally had 2 officers knock on my door to check to see if im ok. I told em the nosy lady is the problem and I dont talk to her so shes wierd and mad and called the cops on me. Officers totally were on my side and realized yep, shes crazy. I dont even do anything illegal. I just was making too much money and the neighbors hated on me.

That's a very American view of the world.
Every country has housing for the destitute, the unwell, and the self destructive. It's called putting the community before any one person's personal wealth and security. Govt is there to protect the general population from corporate and business predatory practices. Except in America. The US doesn't seem to understand why govts exist. The US government prioritises wealth over health and money over life. Instead of investing in the future, Americans seem to romanticise the past and would rather move backwards, spiralling further and further down the gurgler, and weaker and weaker on the world stage.
America has been at war with itself for decades.
