  • If your washing machine vibrates violently during the spin cycle especially if you have ceramic floor and you've been looking for cheap anti vibration, anti-walk, anti-dance, anti-slip shock-proof noise suppressing dampening foot pads, but not willing to pay $15 or more for just a set of 4 from Amazon.com, eBay, Walmart or other online and local hardware stores, you have come to the right place. In this video, young DIY'er Aiman will show you how to make you own vibration-dampening foot pads practically FREE and only takes a few minutes by using materials you already have at home.
If you don't have time to do it yourself, there are plenty of anti-vibration pads for washing machine on Amazon. Here are the #ᴬᴰlinks to some of them:

Vibrations during the spin cycle for washing machines are more prevalent for brands such as LG or Samsung because of lack of dampening materials. Brands such as Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag, GE, Meile, Bosch and Frigidaire are not as bad, unless your floor is slippery such as ceramic tiles or smooth concrete. If you don't put foot pads, the washing machine will move during the spin cycle and may cause damage to itself, the dryer and other adjacent fixtures such as cabinets or walls.
There are plenty of shock absorber anti-slip foor pads or mats on Amazon but some of them are relatively expensive for the good quality, hardened rubber-plastic-polymer types of materials. Unfortunately some of them, according to reviews smell very badly. Some of the cheaper ones are really soft and don't last long, essentially wasting or throwing money away. Using the vibration dampening mechanism reduces the noise caused by a non stable washer or dryer. Anti walk pads reduce vibrations, noise and slipping for smooth, quiet operation. Shock absorbing, the textured anti-vibration pads effectively eliminating ‘walking’ appliances. Of course, it goes without saying that both clothes washers and dryers have to be leveled to avoid these kind of problems.
To make your own foot pads, all you need is interlocking EVA foam mats sometimes called puzzle tiles ordinarily used for gym, exercise rooms, kids playground, babies room, yoga, martial arts, studios and more. You should be able to get them free from these places if you don't already have ones at home or you could buy them from Walmart, Lowes or Home Depot. They're fairly inexpensive. All you need to do it cut into a small circle larger than the appliance foot or base and install them. If you want to them prettier, beautiful or aesthetically pleasing, then you can use many household materials as the cover.
This DIY ideas is brought to you is brought to you by young DIY'er Aiman Imran Zulhilmi Anuar. This do-it-yourself video is more of a Martha Stewart type rather than a Bob Villa kinda DIY. But if you're welcome to watch Aiman's home improvement and repair videos under the following playlist:

Few things, usually washer vibrates because the machine is not level or the machines feet cannot grip on the floor.
My problem was solved by raising the feet of washer leveling it and then locking the lock nut in place.
If above does not solve it problem, better solution is to put rubber pad and then put plywood on top to isolate the floor and also give a good grip under it.

i have a top loading washing machine, so it's usually only shaking violently when it's loaded with more laundry on one side than another, causing an imbalance. it's more likely to be imbalanced with large or heavy items or overloading, and nothing is going to help except opening it and redistributing the laundry. eventually i took the screws out on the bottom for some reason and could never get them back in, but it seems to work just fine and i don't notice any shaking any more, but that could also be due to the smaller and balanced loads

wouldn't it be better to take and put a whole surface with the faux layer to absorb not only the vibration but the sound coming from the working the machine(back & forth motion, spinning motion)

If the washing machine is completely level, then it will not move. You cannot stop the machine vibrating by using those feet. Those feet are used to stop the transfer of vibration from one surface to another. You can put them under your fridge or whatever machine you like, to stop the irritating noise. For example if you are in the room next to where an electric apparatus is on, then you might not hear the machine's vibrations as much, or maybe it can completely eliminate it. The machine will vibrate as long as it is on and working. If your washing machine moves you need to level it, and if that doesn't help then there could be other issues, which are usually repaired easily.

Evidently you are having the same problem or you wouldn’t be here watching this. Mine has been dancing since it was new. It is level too. It’s a Maytag top of the line. Before this one I had a kenmore that never vibrated and danced around. The place I bought it from sent their repair man and he made sure that it was level. I guess clothes gets out of balance during the spin cycle. You are certainly right that it needs to be level but that is not necessarily the answer to these problems.

    • @punchipoint8457
      @punchipoint8457 3 роки тому +1

@@JohnDavis-yz9nq Yes true. If everything is fine with the machine, then levelling would help, but if something else is defect, then certainly that needs to be fixed.
Clothes definitely get "out of balance" when washing and spinning - the machine has to have the mechanisms in place to treat whatever is in the drum as one unit of mass and spin it. If that mechanism is intact, then its the levelling that needs to be corrected. Regarding your machine: Maybe the place you bought it didn't store it or transport it correctly and the drum got damaged/out of place, therefore its a good idea to get a technician from another company to have look at it.

@@punchipoint8457 my Maytag sits on a bare concrete floor in the utility room with no floor covering. Funny it doesn’t do it when I wash clothes only when my wife does. She doesn’t have a clue about the size of the load to set it on or how to load clothes. When I wash clothes I make sure that I am close when it goes through the spin cycle. When I put it on a lower load capacity it doesn’t move around. When you put it on a high level with not enough clothes in there it does. I had a man that works for Maytag tell me that mine is last of the good ones before they started making them cheap. I have even thought bolting it to the floor so it can’t move.

@chink &oink Front loading washers come with screws in the rear to secure the drum to allow transport without damage it. When you are going to install it (and in the manual it says and shows it to you) you must remove those screws to free the drum and allow its free movement. Sorry for my English, but I hope it was helpful.

@@MrToede Thank you sooooo much! I was having issues with my machine literally moving in every direction by a lot. All of the advice was based on levelling my machine (and it was, yet it still was dancing around). When I read your comment, I went back to the manual and it was clearly instructed to remove 4 screws/bolts to release the drum so it has free movement. I don't know why I didn't read the manual/instructions first but I learned my lesson. Thank you again.

Pretty silly because instead of working and earning money you spent an afternoon doing this which required many inputs. You have to go and buy the gym mats and if you don't have caps you need a product which has such a container and cap and then spend it all before you can do this. I'd go with the USD17 option.
