    Thank you for the video, very helpful. I had a different problem. My Shurflo 4308 water pump would not stop pumping. This is my 3rd RV over 20 years and never had this problem before. My wife and I went on numerous trips where we would only turn on the water pump when we needed it which was a PITA. Finally found this vid and messed with the pressure & bypass valves until they were set at levels balancing good water flow with immediate shut off when demand stops at a faucet or toilet. I found that the reset instructions from the manufacturer did nothing to change the issue. So I just turned up the pressure screw until it reached a level where it would shut itself off.

    My first visit to your channel. A lot of valuable information here - so many sites that try to explain this - do not do so. Yours - works.
    I have rebuilt my pump a few times and I've upgraded to the SHURflo 4048 model. Essentially the big brother, with same setup for pressure and bypass screw management. I screwed up while installing it (BACKWARDS - so zero flow!! D'oh!) but I messed up the settings before I saw it. (I have enough room to spin my pump either direction and it only works ONE way!)
    But I remember the process now - and thanks to your nice vid - I skipped the whole, "back it out till it almost gets lost and then in 9 times" = which wasn't enough - and then you just wing it from there essentially - so I started at the wing it part. I just cranked up the max pressure till it was where I wanted it and then cranked the bypass until it turns off again when taps closed and RO system off.
    Thanks.

    Looked for 30 minutes to find a video with this exact info! This was the only video I could find on how to adjust the water pressure on my pump. Thank you!

    Fabulous!! More and better than anything from Shur. I skipped the whole remove and reinstall and just went straight for increasing the pressure with the water running and pump pulsing. It took almost one complete turn (CW). No bypass adjustment seemed to be needed.
    But it took several attempts. The first seemed to work at only 1/2 turn but then after turning the water faucet off and waiting a few minutes and turning it on again, some pulsing again. Adjusted pressure up again and all is well. The pump turns off when the faucet is off, so I saw no need to adjust the bypass setting. All is well! Thanks so very much.
    The pulsing is a relatively sudden problem -- like the pump suddenly aged and is in need of such an adjustment. I first thought something had broken. I have an accumulator downstream and had reason to 1) think it had failed (although it didn't really explain the symptoms) and 2) I've always wanted to remove it because with the bypass pump, an accumulator is not supposed to be needed. So, I removed the accumulator and replaced it with a nipple. Still had the problem. Before buying a new pump, went looking for instructions on adjustment and found this. Voila!

    You may have just saved me a couple hundred $ and a bunch of work replacing something that didn’t need replaced.
    My symptoms were different- the pump came on intermittently while no faucets were on. It was getting annoyingly more frequent to the point we’d flip the pump power switch on only when running water. I did not know the backflow was adjustable until this video. 🙏

    Excellent video that helped me enormously! I read the Sureflo directions regarding the bypass screw but it was vague. Your video was stupendous and thank you so much! My water pump and plumbing work perfectly now!

      I've been dealing with vague instructions for weeks now with navionics, vacuflush, and now the fresh water pump. We end up watching videos by guys who are also just trying to figure it out. I am so sick of this nonsense. The instructions I got with my new Shurflow didn't even point at the location of either of these allen screws. Their video? Showed the one in the center. Neither the instructions or the video mentioned two screws.
      I appreciate that Alcohol Free RV showed the screws. The company couldn't figure out how to do that?

    Thanks for the video! Made it very simple to see how I needed to adjust my pump. I actually didn’t take the adjustment screws all the way out. I just made a minor adjustment on the pressure side and it fixed it really easily.

    Im hoping by adjusting the bypass screw the pump will finally start shutting off when pressurized. Guess its worth trying before i buy another 30 dollar part again to fix it. Well the last one was cracked. This one wont shut off even with good pressure. Works just annoying.

    I do like the chipmunks who helped you count...;-)
    Actually, this is a great video to learn how to adjust the water pump. Question...do you use a whole house filter also? If so, how often do you change it with full-time rving?

    • @AlcoholFreeRV
      @AlcoholFreeRV  3 роки тому +1

      I was cracking up listening to the vid before I uploaded! Lol! We do use a filter on the incoming hose, one of the inline ones, not the canister. And we change it probably less frequently than we should, I don't like disconnecting the hose in the winter. So about every 4-6 months. Hope this helps!

    Good video!!! Do you know if you screw the bypass screw all the way in, this will “bypass/turn off” the internal bypass?

    Can you please tell me where you got that water pressure gage you hooked to the kitchen faucet?

    • @AlcoholFreeRV
      @AlcoholFreeRV  Рік тому +1

      It's just a standard garden hose threaded gauge, maybe I got it at home depot. I also had replaced the tip of the Faucet with an adapter from Faucet thread to garden hose thread, also from a big box store

    What was the pressure when you had the pulsating problem or when you did turn the adjustment screw 9 times? And did you have to increase the bypass pressure? Thanks. I'm about to replace my Whale pump. Do you recommend the shurflo?

    • @AlcoholFreeRV
      @AlcoholFreeRV  2 роки тому

      I don't have any real experience outside of the ShurFlo pump, so i have no basis for comparison. However It's treated us fine since retuning it! The pressure was on the low side, I think about 32 PSI if I remember correctly. I did have to adjust both till I got good pressure, no pulsing, and a quick shutoff when the tap was closed.

    • @bc-guy852
      @bc-guy852 Рік тому

      I hope you ended up with the SHURflo. I'm a full-timer and I also run a full RO system (not recommended) so I've upgraded to the 4048 pump for more flow and more pressure (and more money! LOL).
      But the adjustment process is the same - and I now rebuild my pump when using it to make RO water wears it out. SHURflo instructions might not be the best - but their product support is super. IMO

    Do you run a traditional or tankless hot water heater?

    • @AlcoholFreeRV
      @AlcoholFreeRV  2 роки тому

      This is a traditional water heater. I doubt the bidet would call enough water gpm to fire up a tankless.
