I’ve been called selfish with my time, but my time is so valuable to me! I’m not going to waste it doing social activities that mean nothing to me. It’s hard turning people down, but you’ve got to protect your time. Like you said, you’re not turning down the person, you’re just turning down the activity.

I watched and keep watching your videos and wished I had heard all of this a lot sooner but still feel fortunate to absorb this now. *Your Money or Your Life* and *The 4-Hour Work Week* were important books for me. Oddly, I don't think it was individual specific messages they each had, but the general philosophy they both shared: mainstream culture is broken, you will not be fulfilled living a lifestyle of consumerism or overwork (respectively), and the only way to escape either is to take drastic and wildly unconventional action. And most importantly, those actions were ok, and they had been successfully taken by others before me. When I began explaining to friends and family why I was working half-time, paying off my mortgage at triple speed, and renting out my house while everyone I knew was doing the exact opposite of all this (working overtime, taking out home equities, selling their homes and upgrading), these are the books that backed me up with encouragement. And where I'm at today financially is a direct result of these books and many others like it.

I have read it and it is a great book for someone waking from the slumber of common consumerism.
However, you have progressed in such a direction that you might not find very useful.
There was a time when I needed to cut up my credit cards. however this season I have boosted my income with several hundred dollars using credit cards.
You have to know yourself and your goals and you need a lot of self control, but I'm learning there are other ways to do things.

There are so many minimalist UA-camrs out there who got into minimalism 5 minutes ago and are now telling us how wonderfully perfect it all is. With you we get to watch you try different things and not all of them work. Never trust anyone who doesn't make mistakes. We are still at the start of this journey, but the results so far have been amazing. I have often felt that possessing a new thing does not translate to greater happiness. You buy a new phone or a new watch, and you feel good about it for the first few days. After that, you're only as happy as you were earlier. I would rather spend my life watching great movies, reading good books, and spending quality time with my family than just accumulating stuff, apartments and land.

So important to pause and step away, go have a walk get out in nature you don't need to go on a hike, can you be in your garden get used to spending time by yourself clear your head spend sometime figuring out what you are aiming at you have the answers you need to free yourself up from the distractions around you, simplify and get clear with what you want or you will always be going round in circles not getting what you want.

Essential/Essentialism as a word itself is a term I can better relate to than "minimalism" (I'm in neither movement nor camp).
It is more realistic, pragmatic, practical, intentional and purposeful, and that also doesn't evoke a bare to the bones room, with just 3 items in it.

So Gabe, I have a specific bugbear to bring up with you.
Yes, you narrowed down your content to one video per week.
However, (I am not sure if it’s the millenial generation thing or something else), you talk a lot, and very fast.
As you said, you are used to editing, so I want to share my thoughts with you.
Perhaps you could benefit by decreasing the word count in your narrative.
I get that you are telling your story. Trying to cram in many words distracts from your essential message.
    My tips:
    Slow down.
    Stick to a storyline.
    Eliminate unnecessary wording.
Perhaps use text messages onscreen to highlight your main points.
Break your narrative down into its main points, concentrate your story with quotes, and it will sink into the listeners ears more effectively.
I tried to focus on your message but got lost in the word salad along the way.
I get that as a younger person you want to get your message out, but too many words may obscure your listeners.

I’m the same as you with sleep. ‘Why we sleep’ is a great book. You may have already read it? I take naps if my body tells me I need to. I don’t fight it. 8-9 hours is perfect for longevity and protecting the brain from degeneration,

A book that changed my life "The wealthy barber". My wife and I have applied numerous tips from that book and we have managed to work only 16 hours a week for the last 30 years

The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. Addresses self limiting beliefs (personal, and family related) and encourages/teaches ways of overcoming them. I use it with many of my clients and receive nothing but GREAT feedback. We can have all the tools in the toolbox but if we don’t overcome the mental blocks, we won’t be able to use them in the first place.

One book I have read recently which I recommend highly is "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. I also recommend "This Year I Will..." by M.J. Ryan.
I don't know how to get in touch with that author you mentioned, but maybe you could get in touch with fellow UA-camr Thomas Frank, he does tons of videos on productivity, habits, etc. and I think he has interviewed some authors of these type of books?

Talking about the goals , this is a funny story , being in an interview the attendee just need to answer the question of " How would you set your goal and what was that goal ? ", an answer was spoken out very quickly without any delay : '' My simple goal is just to look for someone , who would be able to support me in the long term .!." 😆👍
