I have a cold weather bathroom story for you. Picture this, it's January 2010 and I'm running the Disney Marathon. As I recall it something like 18 degrees at the gun. Anyway the race begins and at the 6 mile mark my bladder say, "yo, my man, either hit a bathroom or it's going to get really warm followed by really cold down here." So, I turn off and hit a restroom in tomorrowland. Thing is, sweat and below freezing weather doesn't go together. Let's say maybe I was frozen to my shorts. Hypothetically had to quickly and painfully unstick myself, go, and then chug along for another 20 miles. Yeah, that happened. I think it might have gotten up 36 by the time I finshed that race. Coldest race ever for me and it was in Orlando, FL
Hey Kori, great video! It's awesome to see you pushing through and completing the NYC Half Marathon, even without training. The challenges you faced during the race made it even more memorable and relatable. Your positive attitude and determination are inspiring. Keep up the fantastic work! Can't wait to see more of your running adventures. 👍
Great job as always. Looking forward to the Kofuzi follow up: long overdue. Oh, and as I was getting my playlist together for my race, all I could think about was BANGERZ, Hit the BANGERZ! I had to go back in the archives to fine where I heard that from 😂!
I have been watching TV news broadcasters for decades. You are the first newsman I have ever seen who ever discussed his bathroom habits in public. LOL LOL LOL. I really like the point of your video. Running for fun can be just as fun as "suffering" for a Personal Best. I dropped out of this same race for the same problem you had -- not enough training. Let's BOTH do better for the NYC Marathon.
I guess with any race distance it's the same, if your base fitness is good enough to finish then go and do it. I did my first marathon with only 2 long runs as dedicated training but since I was "casually "running daily anyways I managed to finish. My PB (with a proper training plan) is much faster with less pain, so I would still recommend to follow a training plan.
Love the videos! My husband and I have our 2nd Chicago marathon this year and our first in-person NYC. Recovering from VSG surgery and your videos keep me motivated and ready to get back to training. Thanks ❤
While you didn't train for this one, you have trained for it before so you knew your body could do it, even if a bit slower. I continued to be amazed at how we can decide to go 5 or 13 miles and the legs and lungs get us there!
Runners often underestimate the value of well-rested legs.😁But sure, you've run marathons and half marathons in the not too distant past, and IIRC you had been running, if not training. There's lots of fine print on a race disclaimer and I don't usually read them closely, but I don't remember ever agreeing that I would run one as fast as possible or attempt to PR at all costs. It was going to be OK, and low expectations help us to start out easier which usually makes races more enjoyable. Kudos on a fine race and a fun video!
Kori, I am watching your 10:00 p.m. newscast during this terrible Canadian-wildfire smoke storm. Mr. G. told you to "NOT run tomorrow." Okay, fair enough. Use the time to make us another video!!!!
anabolicgardo - Can't you express your feelings without using the "f" word? Even misspelling it, it is still "jarring" to read it on a decent, wholesome site like this.
I never had to go during a race till Tokyo 😭 I was told it's AWFUL at the Tokyo Marathon and it is from first hand experience 😭 It took me 8-9 mins to use the toilet. That killed my goal 😭😭😭 Next time I'm just going in my shorts while running 🤣🤣🤣 BTW there were some toilets 800 meters off the course! That's 800m out and 800m back, a mile! 😐 CRAZY!!!! Glad the toilets I used was just half way down the block. It could have been much worse. Regarding training, YES train!!!! 😁
Kori - I sure wish YOU had done the "live" PIX11 report on the Brooklyn Half Marathon. I just watched Greg Mocker's finish line report on UA-cam. Horrible! He called the wheelchair racers "The accessible people!" He had such a boring monotone when announcing the winner had run a new course record. He had no business covering a story that clearly bored him. At the end of his report he said he would be back later for another report, but no way was I going to watch that one. I wish YOU had done the TV report - you would have conveyed the race report properly.
🤷🏾♂️ this story really isn't about my time... but if you watch closely, you'll see that I caught up to the 2:30 pacer toward the end. I think I finished right around there.
I've been missing your videos Kori! Good to see you again.
Congrats! Yep, running has taught me that expectation can be the thief of joy. Sometimes not having any makes it better.
Just found your vids, I’m doing my first, the Belfast Marathon in May. Hope you’re still running and more vids are in the works
the lesson is to have your expectations aligned with what brings joy. For me, it's all about being present and doing things at my own pace. Cool video
Thanks, man!

I love that... "aim lower" LOL
😂
Having fun for its own sake. Hmm interesting idea. 😂. Awesome as always!!
Thanks!
Recently found your channel and have been loving your videos and style! Hope you have more videos coming down the pipeline soon!

Kori !!!! Awesome video !! And thanks for the Cameo 🎉 and congratulations once again 💪🏽

Yesssss 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Hitting the BANGERZ is definitely better than hitting the port-a-potty 4 times! Hope the race went well!
Running the race for the sheer joy of it (and Times Square!) I love it!

Wise words from Kathy. She advised Frank to keep his long runs at a low HR.
Ah yes, needing to go #1 during those cold winter runs can be bothersome. I can definitely identify. Thanks for keeping it real!
Great video! That was my first NYC Half. Loved every minute
Kori, you are following the same training as me these days. You should not run untrained, but it can still be fun! Great video!!!

No question, having a training plan is the way to go!
Great narration !

Having fun makes all the difference on race day! Wtg Kori
A wise person once said, "don't set goals. If you achieve them, you'll just have to set new ones."
Or maybe that person, simply was lazy. unambitious for sure he was :)

Absolutely!
@@KoriRuns and my 5+ miles last night got me to my 100 miles in April goal!
My man.
Managed to make a video about going to the port-a-loo a pretty decent lesson.
You live, you learn!!! Thanks for watching, Carl!

I guess that's the coldest NYC half Marathon in past few years .🥶🥶
Had to have been!

I'm on it, Cathy🤣! Thanks so much for watching!!!
Cold as fcuk that day! But led to a PR! Once moving the colder weather kept my HR lower
Yeah that cold was a shock to the system!

KOFUZI Kourage. LMAO. ( you've been re-running his previous videos..)
I was wondering where you were lol Maybe aim high but be ok with lower lol
🤣
What's the song? I really want this for my running playlist.

Race videos where the presenter doesn’t tell their time are so annoying.

You could look up his finish time in the race results if you really want to know.
@@KoriRuns That’s not too bad considering you hadn’t trained and made a bunch of bathroom breaks.
