Hi! I noticed her tail is mostly down and between her legs which means “I’m frightened.” My rescue did the same! This will pass as she gets more comfortable! She is beautiful! I’ve had my rescue for 3 years now and she is still nervous to ride in the car! She was swapped from home to home. Keep loving on her!
Yes! Our little cat is still a bit pissed off at us but she’s getting better! She’s used to being the princess so she’s got some jealousy problems lol. She’ll get there though!
TheNightOwl my old lady cat, she’s 15, took a year to get used to our dog. A year!! Lol. Thank fully she can ignore our dog in the same room now. Happy family.
She is absolutely beautiful, congratulations! And OMG I miss southern maine! I used to spend every weekend on Drake's Island!! Something I've learned with pups, keep them socialized! Take them to dog parks, etc when you can, so they stay good with other pups, etc! Enjoy!
So perfect 😍 She looks a lot more like an Anatolian shepherd than she does a German shepherd though. We used to have a couple Anatolian shepherds, they are amazing wonderful loyal protectors. I wish you all the best!
This was so amazing and sweet, also so worth the wait it took her to get to you!! She is gorgeous inside and out. Her temperament is so good! I cant wait to see more of y'all's journey!
This is amazing. I'm so glad she is with you already, safe and happy. Having an animal is such a wonderful thing. I myself have two adopted cats. One cat was adopted from our friend's friend (her cat gave birth to a litter), and the second one was taken from the street cause nobody wanted her. They are both the most precious and wonderful animals on the planet. The joy of giving them a loving home fills my heart with love every day. I hope you and Gypsy will be really happy!
She is adorable, so happy for her new home and family! A little tip (from someone with 4 dogs) since she is still very puppy and you guys are new to her, you can change her name if you would like to. She will learn her new name. And quickly Just be consistent in saying her name when you speak to her and she'll associate it. Dog's respond real well to names that begin with a P, B, D or G and/or end with a i, or Y. Crongrats! And your cats are beautiful!
@@mercswifejl the term Gypsy is actually a racist slur for a group of people; the Romani (or Roma). There is a long history behind it I'm sure whoever initially named her meant well, but it would simply be the sensitive and kind thing to do. I myself didn't know the history behind the term till a few years ago.
She is beautiful!! I always wanted a Shepard but didn't want to go through a puppy mill and I didn't know there was a specific rescue for them! I will definitely be checking them out!
Getting that lead off of her really opened her up. Now her personality and character is showing. When she started to dig and was immediately told nuh-uh, she stopped. Keep that up and in no time she'll be good just for you. You could see, when you laughed at her antics, that she was pleased with herself for causing happy sounds. Sweet pup, lucky you.
@@annafaith3351 Breeding dogs is unethical in this day and age, since there are so many homeless dogs already waiting for their homes in shelters or on the streets. 3 million healthy adoptable dogs are being put down in shelters every year in the US alone, because people buy dogs instead of adopting them. Breeders are contributing to this problem by bringing more dogs into this world.
@@annafaith3351 Please consider adopting a dog from a shelter instead of buying one, you will do a good deed. Plus there are even pure bred dogs in shelters and rescue organizations if you are looking for a specific breed. But mutts are awesome, too!
When we brought our rescue home, I had a dog bed next to ours, and immediately jumped up, curled up between our feet, and that's that 2 years later now...lol
We did this rescue specifically because they foster and will let you know if the dog is cat friendly! Ours lived with three kitties before coming to us, and her foster mom assured me she was not phased by them so we felt a lot better about it! I think if a puppy grows up with a cat, it doesn't know anything other than that! We made a "safe space" for the cats with a baby gate and the room has their food and litter so they can retreat to there if the dog is being too crazy lol.
Newly adopted dog is ruining my life! I recently lost my beloved Dog Sparky, who was part of my life for almost 17y. His passing broke my heart, he was my best friend, always on my side. My house felt lonely and I miss the company having a dog on my side to care for. So, I decided to adopt a 6y old dog, who recently lost his “owner” I though we can help each other. I prepared my home for the newcomer (a beagle/hound mix) bought new bowls, beds, treats and toys (I kept all those stuff from my previous dog, but didn’t want to use those) The first thing I noticed with this new dog he is obsesses with food, food and nothing but food. He emptied already my bin all over the house in her first night. Taking her for a walk is a nightmare! she pulls like crazy, don’t listen at all, left, right, behind, turning etc. my arms are really sore from constantly holding her and pulling her back. I got her now for 10 days and I have to say honestly, I REGRED getting her into my life. She wakes me up every day at 5 or 6am demanding food and her walk! She has no interest at all in any toys not even a ball. She hauls at night like a wolf, keeping me awake. Those past 10 days have been hell for me, the company and fun I hoped for having a new dog turned into a nightmare. I don’t know what to do, give her back to the shelter??
I just found your channel it would be great to know how you determined that your puppy was good going to be good with cats and what their adoption process is like now I understand that’s two years ago or longer now but my experience with an adoption/rescues has been pretty bad we fill out the form pay the fee and then never hear back on any of the puppies or dogs that we expressed interest in but that’s in 2022 so if you can elaborate it would be great
Hi! That was SUPER important to us of course, with having two kitties. When we filled out our forms, we were required to provide information on our two cats, including age, temperament, etc. They then "matched" us to current foster puppies that they had who were living with cats. Our dog was living with a foster who had several cats, and she came into their home pretty young so it's all she's ever really known. I had to have a phone interview with her foster mom and we talked through the cats and how she'd been responding to them (which was very indifferent haha). Her foster mom then concluded we were a good fit and approved the adoption. I am so sorry to hear that you never hear back from adoption agencies! Our rescue was Imminent Danger German Shepherd Rescue. We heard back immediately from them and had great communication and experiences throughout the process. Highly recommend them!
Don't forget, the collar needs to be appx 2 fingers looser than the neck! (That is a trick my parents who used to train dogs always mentioned to me lol)
Did you name her Gypsy or was that her name at the rescue? I ask because I was always taught that when you rescue a dog from a shelter or a rescue it’s good to change their names. It’s almost like a new name equals a fresh start. They also sometimes say to change the name to something with the same amount of syllables so it’s easier for her to learn. But since she’s a puppy you can use whatever name you want
Madison Telfer I wouldn’t be afraid of a dog not being able to learn, they can be very intelligent. You could string a bunch of words together for example “get into the crate gypsie” and they would understand you want them in the crate (obviously that how you would have trained them). They can also learn the same commands in a variety of languages which is pretty cool! 😊
I'll definitely look into that! I feel so awful seeing her itch. She was given a type of chew to help with it (while at her foster home) but it seems to have stopped working. Hopefully the vet visit next week is helpful as well. Thank you for the advice!
Awwwww this made me go back and rewatch videos of my baby girl as a little baby!!! When I brought mine home she just looked up at me in the car and made me her person right then. Another question I have is why does she have a runner most dogs have a backyard run around and play without one
Probably bc it isn't completely fenced in and they don't want her to run away. Why question it when they're being cautious?
😍
