I had the same experience, once I got in Eggsecutive VP it felt like everyone suddenly knows what they are doing less frustrating in the sense that randoms can coordinate more and survive a bit better. Any rank below is like fighting with salmonids and your teammates. I don't miss Profreshional.
idk if it was just me, but I went from part-timer to profreshional yesterday and my teammate were amazing most of the time

I ranked down to Profreshional +3 about two days ago and man the skill level of teammates is really bad at Profreshional. I've been in VP for about a month or two so I'm used to teammates who know what they're doing lol
If I’m about to rank down I stop playing the rotation until the next one resets my rank, im never risking profreshional ever again

Lesson learned: DO NOT derank yourself for your beginner cousin until they say they're sure the day of.
If you had your cousin create the lobby for salmon run, it would’ve used the lower difficulty. The game would’ve counted you as a “helper” and you wouldn’t have gotten a paycheck, but you wouldn’t have had to demote yourself…

The amount of times I’ve gotten to the top of professional +3 only to go on a loosing streak dropping me all the way down to just regular professional is insane
90% of Salmon run's difficulty is the bad teammates.
You know, when you finish up a EVP 999 Sockeye rotation a few days ago, and then watch this?
It really makes you appreciate how people in the higher end of EVP can actually like, survive. They still die but rarely and when they do die there's a good reason for it.
There was just so many meaningless deaths in this video lol.
After Dude levels back up --> his cousin: "Actually, I do feel like playing some salmon run."

That story at the beginning is SO funny, but it just makes me think of my group. There's only 3 of us, and we OFTEN derank specifically to challenge ourselves to climb back to VP. It's dumb fun.
I just started Splatoon 3 last week because I didn't have time since it was released. As a Splatoon 2 veteran, the Salmon Run was... a total nightmare. I couldn't get promoted after 10 games as my teammates kept dying and they had no idea how to deal with those different salmons. I guess they skipped the tutorial and even didn't get used to aiming by a controller. I had no choice but to ask my friends to help me to get the Professional. Now it's playable.
The death count on the final endscreen caused me great amounts of pain

the part where you went “I think we can do it *realises* i don’t think we can do it. you actually got to be kidding me. WHAT?? what happened *laughs* what” that part made me laugh my milkshake out 😭 .
That moment when the guy who got the Hydra Splatling just runs right out into the swarm of salmonids, guns a-blazing, no thoughts head empty, and i stand by the basket, silently weeping into my hands.

Seeing you play with your cousin is awesome! I play with my niece (who is better than me lol) and she LOVES salmon run.
This makes me feel happy that I got Splatoon 3 day one and played salmon run early to not struggle this much.

On the one hand, no one (who didn't also intentionally demote themselves) is going to play at anywhere near as well as you do, Dude, so yeah, lower level Salmon Runners are going to be dying a lot to things that you wouldn't expect. I'm currently stuck in Profesh+2 and have only ever made it into EVP once (and then a bad series of runs on Spawning Grounds knocked me back down), and there have been many times where I get blindsided by a lone small fry that snuck up behind me while I was weak, or a Cohock nails me with a lucky swing that sends me flying into the sea. I have no doubt you'd be laughing and/or shaking your head at me if I'd ended up in any of those matches with you, and while I still have a lot of improvement to do, I at least am trying to be a good Salmon Run teammate and have a reasonably solid understanding of most of the fundamentals, even if I lack the skills to execute well all of the time.

On the other hand, I think that Salmon Run makes it a little too easy for people who have no idea what they are doing to get carried to the Professional ranks. It blows my mind how many people there are in Profesh+1,+2, & +3 that have no idea how to work with others as a team, have no concept of luring, pay no attention to the snatcher spawns to see if they can be used to bring eggs to the basket, don't seem to understand the weapons and their roles, and overall have little or no understanding of a lot of very basic Salmon Run strategy. It is painful to Freelance.

I get that not everyone can be great or can take the time to learn all the details. But it would be nice if the ranking system actually reflected that, so that people who don't know the fundamentals and don't know how to work as a team simply wouldn't be able to make it to Professsional much less EVP.

Playing Salmon Run on lower tiers can sometimes be just as hard as higher ranks, but for different reasons. Like more inexperienced players just get themselves into such dumb situations or *ahem* don't use supers ever.
This is my experience whenever I play Salmon Run. I'm not at level you are, but seriously lol

Anything under EVP doesn't seem fun, but at least its pretty solo'able. Kinda the same with under EVP 200 (as long as the weapons aren't too bad). Sometimes dc's are a blessing because it makes it easier lol.
Got to Eggecutive VP like a week ago and gotta say it’s gotten better because I’m actually being teamed with people who know how to play lol
The worst part is like- I’m kind of like the teammates he gets in a way. I die stupidly a lot. I fuck up often. It’s frequent that I do not deposit nearly the number of eggs in the basket that I should. Because of this, I have yet to reach Profreshional +3, and I feel that’s good. Reason being? It means I need to improve to reach a higher rank, and I plan to do so as much as I am able.
Every time someone DCs it take 5 eggs from the quota

The reason why your quota went down each round was because players kept disconnecting. So the game accommodates for the lower amount of players by lowering the quota.
I wonder if they lower the hazard level at the next wave when someone DCs.

When I played with my friend who just got the game we did salmon run. I was Max rank and he was Bottom rank, the egg count was 2,3,4. I feel bad for DUDE fully de-ranking himself for no reason in two ways

To be honest... this video makes me curious to de-rank as well just to see what is like in lower ranks, perhaps in the future.... far future.
I did that yesterday because I wanted to practice certain things but you can’t do that by yourself. I only ever made it to VP 60 because I keep making stupid mistakes. It is funny though I had glowflies and the charger was by the basket everyone was all over the place😂we immediately died.

Thats what I imagine profreshional rank is. Idk what it is but Over Achievers play way better than profreshionals, and when playing with Eggxecutives its a night and day difference

I play turf war with my 7 year old daughter and salmon run with my 6 year old son, and it usually goes just about as well but it’s good fun :)
You think that's bad? one round yesterday me and a friend got 3 Grizzco Splatanas the first wave and second wave we got 3 Grizzco Sloshers, and we got Biggie Cheese (what we call Cohozuna) and almost beat it, but lost, but I got my first golden scale

90% of Salmon Run is babysitting bad teammates. Focus on staying alive, splatting mobs, and reviving teammates. Don't go on solo rambo missions.

Hey "pro" in the splatfest there this hidden mechanic when you trying bottle ship. Well when you spatted while trying to take the bottle ship you can jump immediately back to the middle of the map and slow down to grad the bottle ship gets shorter.
I don't think to theorize nituno put something sneaky like that. To balance the game 🎮 so and so.... 😦😭

i dont think you would have needed to derank yourself to play on his skill level. doesnt the game adjust by running on the difficulty of the player with the lowest rank and everyone above that rank just doesnt get any points for being a supporter
dude you didn't have to rank down. you can still play with lower ranked players, it's just higher ranked will be supports (can't gain experience)
