Big Shot was the hardest one at least for me to place. It's definitely a problem when there's a lot going on, but if you know where the cannon is beforehand, they are super manageable!
@@CAJman777 problem is their tanky ness. You always need a person alongside you or youll get surrounded quick and more than one bigshot spawning in can be an instant death sentence, barring off basket entirely unlike stinger or flyfish.

I constantly miss my throws because I smack a Cohock in the face and send the bomb flying to the side. I do have to say that Mudmouths is probably the easiest special wave, but I’d bump the Golden variety up a tier. But let me tell you this: Booyah Bomb does NOT make you safer from Maws. I’ve seen several people (including myself) learn that the hard way.
As long as you don't panic while the maws is targeted on you you'll be safe. It can't attack you until you fall to the ground. When it isn't targeting you. I should've been more specific when I said this.
@@CAJman777 maybe it was fixed in a day one patch or something. I definitely got Maw-ed out of a Booyah Bomb at one point. I can confirm that Inkjet keeps you safe though. Maws also acts a little weird when you use it - most Salmonids will bunch up where you’ll land when the special expires, but for whatever reason a Maws will always try to stay underneath you.
Comparing Maws with Flyfish is kinda funny: Maws: - Drop 3 golden eggs - need 1 bomb to get killed - can be killed without a bomb (they just have a lot of health) - can be lured to the basket easily Flyfish: - Drop 3 golden eggs - need 2 bombs to get killed - can't be killed without a bomb, if you don't have a weapon whose attacks go through enemies or shields or make explosions (except snipers and blasters, so basically, only a few weapons can) - can't be lured to the basket at all Feel free to extend it further.
Maws: -You can force the maws to attack, allowing you to throw a bomb to kill them -Throwing a bomb towards them while they're preparing their attack is probably a good enough throw for them to get killed by it because it seems to just lock onto the Maws once the attack animation begins. -Easily avoidable and telegraphed attack. Keep in mind it's only ONE attack, and SHOULD be one (maybe up to three) attacks because of how easy they are to defeat. Flyfish: -You have to wait for the Flyfish to attack, allowing to throw a bomb and explode one of their missile launchers, and maybe killing them if the other launcher is destroyed. -You have to factor in that the bomb will not just lock into place once thrown into a launcher, it might slip or bounce off of it. -Fires multiple missiles that can kill you because of chip damage, or just because you have no friendly ink to the stand on, so you get one shotted. They are likely to do this multi-attack more than once.
Cohuzuna is piss easy if theres a dynamo roller and/or a hydra splatling. its so satisfying just drilling through is health. Although,if you have, like,an undercover brella you should really focus on golden eggs for cohozuna. Cohozuna is either in best watch your back tier or @#£% you tier depending on the weapons/specials
God, Flyfish are the WORST. As if Tenta Missiles weren’t bad enough, it’s always an extra f**k you when your bombs slide off the edge, even though the indicator shows it being in just fine, AND the fact that it generally takes just forEVER for them to open back up, AND they’re always at the shore. It just makes me want to scream.
Not from my experience, since it's very possible to just ink a straight line under it and swim through. The problem comes from not having a weapon that can fully paint the circle in time.
As a person that cannot reliably aim down at my feet to throw a bomb I take offense to the maws being in the free tier……it always takes me like 4 bombs and I’m between I’m running for my life 😂
Tip for the king!! Using the egg canon does NOT use ink!! So dont ignore the eggs because you want to gun him down! Eggs are also VERY useful on other boss salmonoids! They kill stingrays, steelheads, steel-eels, drizzlers, SATANS, everything!! It is always worth using a golden egg on normal bosses! You're trading 1 egg for 3!!
from my experience maw can be really dangerous sometimes solely because it's super janky with its kill radius, i've been sucked straight into it sometimes before because my internet isn't perfect so i'd say they're more dangerous than something like the flipper flopper tbh
It's not just your internet, if you are standing on the edge of maws' circle you will get pushed upward by his model's physics/collision until you reach the killbox of his mouth.
Fishsticks can be brutal if its in the wrong place, stacked with multiple ones, and can be almost impossible to take out solo with some weapons. Some weapons can ink the stick (charger) or take out rotating salmonids (inkbrush), but not both. Easy if you team up, but in freelance left alone you can be screwed under some circumstances. Grillers are easy, its the smallfries that get you.
Saw the thumbnail and title and instantly said SATAN!!! (aka flyfish) glad someone else agrees Edit: 18:32 is it bad i keep repeating this and laughing over it so many times cause it's so true XD
Fish stick definitely deserves to be higher. Also, gold mudmouths also die in three bombs not five. Also the the advice on Cohozuna was kind of bad. Unless you have a heavy hitting weapon (like Hydra for example) you want to be focusing on golden eggs. It's also better to use certain specials in specific ways other than just focusing on Chozozuna with them. Crab tank should absolutely focus on Coho but Booyah bomb should try to take out as many bosses as it can at once. It's a good idea to focus on golden eggs throwing two at Cohozuna and saving one for other boss salmon since it can be used to kill them
Depends on the situation really for the Cohozuna. I find Booyah bomb on him can be really effective especially if there's a Slammin' Lid near him drop that on him with Booyah while he's there and O_O Health Goodbye (Same goes for triple strike). At higher difficulties I will agree it depends on the weapons, Splatlings can really mess Coho up. Also yeah throwing eggs is good for burst damage and other boss kills. Higher difficulties know how to manage this.
i think fish stick could be a potential problem depending on how many spawn, if there’s a lot and nobody kills them, you won’t have space to move around which is important. free is a good spot to put it though
Honestly... Drizzlers are way more annoying to deal with than you gave them credit for. Yes, you can prevent their storms from going off somewhat easily... but actually killing them either requires you to pump out 900 damage (the 2nd highest boss health by the way) in a very short vulnerability window (which is only consistently doable by Splatlings and other particularly high damage weapons), or you have to send the missile straight back at it, which is extremely inconsistent to pull off and can get ruined by a single chum getting in the way... or a wall... or the game just deciding to send it in the wrong direction
Oh boy, the frustration in your voice. So amusing but at the same time I can feel your pain. Try in Profreshional in max hazard, Small fry can KILL YOU IN ONE HIT. Very amusing stuff.
I think people underestimate the Fish Stick way so much. some players even tend to ignore them, is true that by itself is not a big deal, but in many cases they can block your escape routes, and therefore, get splatted Some people forget , Inking ground is crucial to have more space to move
I just take care of them just in case I ever have to retreat in it's direction later on. Their paint is absolute. Besides there's 3 golden eggs if I splat them that I can decide to either throw to the basket or ignore depending on our quota progress and nearby threats/bosses. (Until stinger, flyfish or maws force me off)
I've gotten strangely better at attacking fly fish, but maybe that's because I dropped from profreshional part timer to regular part timer in the wild card rotation
I do agree with this tier list that you made but for the Cohocks I would say that they more like best watch your back than potential problems and yes the fly fish is THE MOST Annoying boss salmonid and since we have a new king salmonid Horrorboros I would put that salmonid in potential problems although it does have a weakness just blow up its booyah bombs 6-7 times but be careful not to underestimate it because it’s booyah bombs can land anywhere and they are bigger than the usual booyah bombs
Flyfish is the most evil of all Boss Salmonids. Every time I get splatted by a Flyfish,I can almost hear its evil laughter. Cohozuna is what I call the "Godzilla" of all Salmonids. Every time I fight against it,the odds against me cranks up to over 9,000. Stingray are more of a pain if two or three of them appear. Whenever I play the Glowflies event,I often dread as if the Apocalypse has begun. The rest are a pain to deal with.
Drizzlers are easy to deal with, but the problem is that a lot of the times you dont realize its there as it can hide behind cohocks, and if you dont know where it is, it definitely becomes a problem
Many of the salmonoids are painfully easy to deal with. But when you have 5 boss salmonoids targeting you at once, even if all five are currently not firing at you, it gets a little tough.
i failed a mothership wave with ransoms once. we dealt with the ship coming to take the eggs just fine, but we all forgot to load eggs in the first place. honestly more embarrassing than getting splatted by a sprinkler
Weird to call scrappers free but slammin lids a problem. Slammin lids can potentially kill flyfish in one hit and can be used as an elevator and killed by one person Scrappers will persue you forever so unless you can move freely that can completely force your movement and can be hard to defeat with one person quickly.
Eh, some questionable choices, here. I'd bump Fish Stick and Chinooks to "Potential Problem". A single Fish Stick, by itself, isn't a big deal, but at higher difficulties, due to their passive behavior, they get overlooked and can mess up your movement options, especially when two or or three spawn. As for the Chinooks, while they do go down very easily, they come out in such large numbers over such a wide area, you're not going to be able to get them all, especially when you have to move eggs, simultaneously. This can lead to swarms of lessers that will interfere with your shots, if there is no one taking care of them. I'd also lower the Goldies, Grillers, and Smallfry down a tier , as Rush is the only time Goldies are a threat and Grillers can easily be baited into favorable positions. Smallfries are dangerous, but are easy to manage, if you pay attention.
This reminds me of a big run i did and the FIRST wave was just Flyfish, Flyfish, Over and over and we had like 6 of them killed IN ONE WAVE, bosses like stinger, drizzler and steel Eels show up AT ALL
Co-hocks have helped me win so many rounds, they hit me across the map straight to the net, so im able to put a egg into the basket last second and save the match
Snatchers can carry way more eggs than 5 eggs. Steel eels tend to focus on one player. Stinger are focused on the player furthest from the stinger. Flyfish can target closet player with one set of tenta missiles and another one to another player. Also it is satisfying to kill flyfish by throwing a bomb at the slammin lid barrier at the right time plus throwing can instantly kill flyfish.
@@silvesta5027 bc at higher levels most ppl will not be around the egg basket, they'll be on the higher ground throwing the eggs. Too many bosses to basket camp
They probably can, but it seems like in certain places on certain maps they can't reach you in my experiences. Or like if you booyah bomb BEFORE they can get under you their AI just doesn't know to target you properly.
That Flyfish rant perfectly captures every single time they appear in a late game wave. "Let me waste all of my ink to die" No matter what, one Flyfish wing gone = 75 percent chance to die
I’ve only failed mothership once but I don’t think it was my fault. It was only me at the basket and I had a roller so I could barely reach it. I kept spamming the ‘this way’ button but my teammates must’ve went to Australia or something because not one showed up to help. Man, I was mad Also I really hate it when a Cohock hits me into something. I’ve had many deaths that resulted by a Cohock knocking my into a stationary Scrapper and I die
11:26 bruh that phrase is an understatement XD Glowflies turn Splatoon 3 into a horror game, once they swarm you better channel inner God otherwise you'll perish so fast there won't be a legend to remember you by. Hate them but yet they get so cracked up it's comical 😂🤣
i recommend for fireflies that you stay close together and put your backs up against the wall (or go somewhere they could only come to you from one point of entrance)
Just saying, saw those Snatcherf-jerks carry off like... 8 eggs or so at once. Not sure what the limit is but seeing a massive stack of eggs fly away really hurts.
and keep in mind that you can't jump over them smallfry despite their small size, and deals you 20 damage per hit, which takes 5 hit to kill you Yeap, absolutely annoying
I barely realized why it's called a slammin lid It's named a slammin lid because its a refference to the cooking utensil And the fact it sounds like Salmonid
People really do sleep on some of these bosses and lessers (my god the small fries). This game also needs to teach players how to lure easy boss salmonids like scrappers and maws. Oh and i just came off a wipe during cohock charge... there were four flyfish and i tried to get them with the cannon and inkjet.
The fact that I would’ve put Slammin’ Lid in free. Okay, here’s what you do. If there’s a steelhead, the best possible thing that can happen to you is a slammin lid on it. Just lure it to fall, and one of the most annoying and precise to beat (without a charger) enemies in the game is defeated. I’m also surprised you didn’t mention the tornado wave. It’s not a specific boss, but it is a wave variation like the mothership, and is the easiest variant wave of the game. Totally free.
Actually steelhead's just as good as a slammin lid. Just pop the bomb that has ONLY 300 HEALTH to destroy almost all other salmonids nearby. Even better deal than slammin lid, though sadly this one won't work against flyfish.
Fishstick free? Honestly it's not complicated to take it down, but when there are large groups of bosses around the map, you don't always have the right weapon to kill it close to it, so it can become one of the worst problems if it's blocking the basket
I failed a mothership because my freelance team because I had a tri slosher (which can’t do to much damage) and they stole the last quota egg at the last second we would have won if my teammates actually focused on the mothership.
It’s an ok list but fish-stick and drizzled should be in annoying. And enough flipper-floppers can make moving a nightmare so I’d put them in potential problems
Definitely don’t agree with Fish Stick’s placement. If left unkilled for even a few seconds, they’ll ink _so_ much ground that it’s nearly impossible to move while near them.
I have to disagree, Flipper Floppers are definitely the most annoying of the easy salmonids They're extremely easy, yes, but their ability to just delete a chunk of your turf gets old reeeal quick in more chaotic waves
Dude have I just been having easy big shot waves or something? Big shot is so free. He dies rlly fast, you can just have one teammate at basket to put eggs in, and since he spawns at cost other bosses also spawn: free eggs. Big shot doesn’t ruin my waves, he saves them
I only failed a mothership wave when I was helping a friend at a lower rank than me and the other two people didn't know how to use weapons and I was the only one with a freaking bucket trying to defend the freaking egg basket. I WAS SPAMMING THIS WAY BECAUSE WE WERE LOSING EGGS!!!!! IF SOMEONE SAYS this way 9 TIMES IN A ROW IT'S NOT AN ACCIDENT! GO! THAT! WAY! NOW!!!!!!!!! Needless to say I was very mad about that... And I got a pay cut... I kind of wanted to push all three of them in the ocean...
I love your sense of humor and dialogue; However, Some of this information is not accurate. 1. Gold mudmouths only take 3 bombs to kill, just like regular mudmouths. 2. Steel heads, if you’re close enough to their bomb when it explodes, can kill you instantly, similar to maws, floppers, and direct flyfish hits. 3. Maws can in fact kill you even if you’re trying to booyah bomb. So, DO NOT try to booyah if a maws is on you. You will waste it. 4. Mothership can be a problem if your team does not handle the map in quadrants. When this happen, lessers spawn, making it more difficult to navigate the map and focus on shooting chinooks (the flying egg carriers during mothership wave), and lastly, collecting eggs must be timely because snatchers can still come and take your eggs. 5. Snatchers can take more than 5 eggs at a time, so those are a watch your back to me. If you don’t watch out, you will lose the eggs you earned, not meet quota, and fail. They also have a habit of sabotaging booyah bomb placement and throwing bombs into flyfish. They are definitely annoying. 6. You cannot stay on a slamming lid, even if you try to jump when it pushes you off. You also take some damage when it pushes you off, so keep that in mind, too. 7. Big shots are really not that difficult to deal with, plus they offer a free shuttle for eggs way closer to the basket. Some of the eggs you shoot through the cannon can even go straight into the basket, so I’m not sure why you didn’t discuss the positive aspect of this boss. 8. Less significant but slightly irritating was the incorrect naming of Chinooks, Cohocks, and Cohozuna. Overall, this is a great video, just watch out for spreading misinformation!

@@CAJman777 I got murdered by a maw yesterday while at full height with booyah bomb
I bet every Fly Fish we send to hell... just flies away from it and covers the whole place with missiles.
Comparing Maws with Flyfish is kinda funny:
Maws:
- Drop 3 golden eggs
- need 1 bomb to get killed
- can be killed without a bomb (they just have a lot of health)
- can be lured to the basket easily
Flyfish:
- Drop 3 golden eggs
- need 2 bombs to get killed
- can't be killed without a bomb, if you don't have a weapon whose attacks go through enemies or shields or make explosions (except snipers and blasters, so basically, only a few weapons can)
- can't be lured to the basket at all
Feel free to extend it further.
Maws:
-You can force the maws to attack, allowing you to throw a bomb to kill them
-Throwing a bomb towards them while they're preparing their attack is probably a good enough throw for them to get killed by it because it seems to just lock onto the Maws once the attack animation begins.
-Easily avoidable and telegraphed attack. Keep in mind it's only ONE attack, and SHOULD be one (maybe up to three) attacks because of how easy they are to defeat.
Flyfish:
-You have to wait for the Flyfish to attack, allowing to throw a bomb and explode one of their missile launchers, and maybe killing them if the other launcher is destroyed.
Flyfish... Stingers... I SERIOUSLY DESPISE THEM! Between the two, Flyfish is easily the worst one... ESPECIALLY ON HIGH TIDE!!
Flipper Flopper is an absolute NIGHTMARE in high tide waves. It ruins mobility and then something else kills ya in an instant
Not from my experience, since it's very possible to just ink a straight line under it and swim through. The problem comes from not having a weapon that can fully paint the circle in time.
Of all the threats on high tide, flipper flopper is one of the smallest ones by far unless other bosses are already present and ruining the shift
Snatchers are not only free, they can even help you if they have a good spawn, carrying eggs to the basket.
I will destroy whoever thought flyfish was a good idea
Agreed.
thank u sir
My argument for making Small fry be in the Fuck You tier: Flyfish are just Small Fry in mechs. That is all
can’t argue
I hate when a chum knocks you into a maw or flyfish
Or Scrapper?
Its unanimous that everyone hates flyfish
Saw the thumbnail and title and instantly said SATAN!!! (aka flyfish) glad someone else agrees
Edit: 18:32 is it bad i keep repeating this and laughing over it so many times cause it's so true XD
Salmon run feels like you’re trying to play Splatoon 2 meta again
Flyfish, aka satan
Honestly I haven't yet had a problem with glowflies since learning to just stick to the basket with your team.
Until you get to higher hazards and they just barge through your defences. Or if its marooner's bay mid tide you lose by default to quota.
i think fish stick could be a potential problem depending on how many spawn, if there’s a lot and nobody kills them, you won’t have space to move around which is important. free is a good spot to put it though
I think people underestimate the Fish Stick way so much. some players even tend to ignore them, is true that by itself is not a big deal, but in many cases they can block your escape routes, and therefore, get splatted
Some people forget , Inking ground is crucial to have more space to move
I agree with most of these but fish sticks are not free 💀 when there is two near the basket and it’s chaotic it can be a total nightmare lol
the amount of times i died because i got stuck in their ink bruh
Flyfish and Stinger are the most annoying combo ever. I’ve died so many times because a stinger was targeting me, but I was trapped by a flyfish.
I failed a mudmouth wave without getting a single egg in the basket. The whole team got killed by smallfries
i failed a mothership wave with ransoms once. we dealt with the ship coming to take the eggs just fine, but we all forgot to load eggs in the first place. honestly more embarrassing than getting splatted by a sprinkler
I killed two fly fishes with a slammin lid , and it felt satisfying
YES END THE FLY FISH!
Personally, I have failed on a mothership wave once, but it’s the first mothership wave I did, so I guess it’s fine???
Anyway, great video! Loved it
Weird to call scrappers free but slammin lids a problem.
Slammin lids can potentially kill flyfish in one hit and can be used as an elevator and killed by one person
Scrappers will persue you forever so unless you can move freely that can completely force your movement and can be hard to defeat with one person quickly.
Also it is satisfying to kill flyfish by throwing a bomb at the slammin lid barrier at the right time plus throwing can instantly kill flyfish.
big shot should be higher for lower levels but for EVP 200+ it isnt even an issue bc most eggs are thrown
Why does throwing eggs make him not an issue?
@@silvesta5027 bc at higher levels most ppl will not be around the egg basket, they'll be on the higher ground throwing the eggs. Too many bosses to basket camp
I just started playing like a week ago and salmon run is probably my favorite mode but god the fly fish make me want to splat myself
12:58 Thank You!
Also I’m pretty sure maws can bite through booyah bomb armor I had that happen to me a few times
They probably can, but it seems like in certain places on certain maps they can't reach you in my experiences. Or like if you booyah bomb BEFORE they can get under you their AI just doesn't know to target you properly.
Ive learned that maws can one shot crab tank as well, so be careful about using crab tank around them if you want to waste a special.
Man, I was mad
Also I really hate it when a Cohock hits me into something. I’ve had many deaths that resulted by a Cohock knocking my into a stationary Scrapper and I die
Just don't get too close to cohocks
11:26 bruh that phrase is an understatement XD Glowflies turn Splatoon 3 into a horror game, once they swarm you better channel inner God otherwise you'll perish so fast there won't be a legend to remember you by. Hate them but yet they get so cracked up it's comical 😂🤣
Also about the smallfry? There's an easy way to describe them... Belligerent and Numerous.
I call them Satan. Put a billion lions against 1000 smallfry and the smallfry win.
@@CAJman777 oh I hate them don't get me wrong. But I have a personal vendetta against the steel eels myself 😂
They're literally a game of snake that cheats, by going through themselves... The amount of times they've sneakily booped me off maps are countless
i recommend for fireflies that you stay close together and put your backs up against the wall (or go somewhere they could only come to you from one point of entrance)
I passed the goddamm glowflies wave THE FIRST TIME IN MY GOD DAMM SPLATOON LIFE
I’ve won it twice.. first time all i did was stick to the walls tho.. the other time we just somehow managed to get lucky
Just saying, saw those Snatcherf-jerks carry off like... 8 eggs or so at once. Not sure what the limit is but seeing a massive stack of eggs fly away really hurts.
On the flyfish thing... IT CAN ONESHOT YOU ON DIRECT HITS. WE NEED A HIGHER TIER FOR IT.
Drizzler feels way too low for a 900 HP bastard with invulnerability 60% of the time
SALMON RUN HAD ME BY THE NECK BUT THEN.. YOU KNOW
and keep in mind that you can't jump over them smallfry despite their small size, and deals you 20 damage per hit, which takes 5 hit to kill you
Yeap, absolutely annoying
Bro the blue ink is so cool becuase it looks like so new
I barely realized why it's called a slammin lid
It's named a slammin lid because its a refference to the cooking utensil And the fact it sounds like Salmonid
you should do a video ranking every salmon run map from both 2 and 3
fish stick is best watch your back bc when they trap you in the ink while stingers target you is so annoying
3:33 my guy really putting the bane of my existence into free tier. hate these lil buggers
I have never had any real problems with fish sticks. For me they just exist and aren't even close to a threat.
@@CAJman777 , they can be annoying if they are right next to the basket.
CAJ getting angry over flyfish for 1/16 of the entire video 💀 but fr-
F the flyfish XD
Somtimes when a maws try’s to eat me
But them it just pushes me to the side
Fishstick free? Honestly it's not complicated to take it down, but when there are large groups of bosses around the map, you don't always have the right weapon to kill it close to it, so it can become one of the worst problems if it's blocking the basket
I failed a mothership because my freelance team because I had a tri slosher (which can’t do to much damage) and they stole the last quota egg at the last second we would have won if my teammates actually focused on the mothership.
did this man just say CHOHOZUNA???
Has actually lost in mothership round I’m a disgrace 🤣
YOU TOO?!
What The Most Hardest Part About The Flipper Flopper
I one time got 3 Bigshots in a row and it Was Thankfully not horrible cause me and a Teamate took care of them but I had doubts If we weren’t 😅
Well sorry mate I think I might be the first one you heard of who failed a mother ship event
*LE GASP*
Snatcher Can definitely hold more then Five I have seen it
some how i died to the crate droppers in salmon run and they actually have a name there called Chinook
They're literally named after a helicopter?! LOL
@@CAJman777 Apparently LOL
I also failed because my team were getting the chinooks and they died so I lost I still leave if i see them
And Steel Eels can reach Booyah Bomvs and inkjet making them even more annoying
Least favorites are Stingers, Big Shots, and Drizzlers
It’s an ok list but fish-stick and drizzled should be in annoying. And enough flipper-floppers can make moving a nightmare so I’d put them in potential problems
Definitely don’t agree with Fish Stick’s placement. If left unkilled for even a few seconds, they’ll ink _so_ much ground that it’s nearly impossible to move while near them.
Modes next?
Maybe maps perhaps? Idk All I now is my next video will be a salmon run video! But I want to do this again with other things in Splatoon too!
You should rank every map, including splatoon 2
I have to disagree, Flipper Floppers are definitely the most annoying of the easy salmonids
They're extremely easy, yes, but their ability to just delete a chunk of your turf gets old reeeal quick in more chaotic waves
Dude have I just been having easy big shot waves or something? Big shot is so free. He dies rlly fast, you can just have one teammate at basket to put eggs in, and since he spawns at cost other bosses also spawn: free eggs. Big shot doesn’t ruin my waves, he saves them
They do, as long as you make sure to kill them and keep the cannon free from salmonids.
That is true
Chill season 2023 update?
Bro really said good time 💀
Is there a link to this tier list?
19:57 Actually this is false. I've been eaten straight through booyah bomb by a maws.
Salmonid. No second O.
