Quality Trucks. I love you guys and your work… but… I feel this needs a further breakdown.
I just want to share a few very key points.
3000 Series will operate that Hooklift in P R N D and is fully functional in all gears, as it’s what’s considered a “Live PTO” as you know.
2500 will NOT operate that Hooklift except in N. No exceptions. Unless you add a clutch pump
Your video is great, but you were on perfectly flat asphalt. If you are on any type of hill, loose gravel, grass or anything else, that dumpster will not roll and that truck wouldn’t roll out from it either.
I get why dealers keep buying these trucks with 2500’s transmissions… costs! But for us guys running cans everyday out here, I cannot in good faith get behind the fact that the 2500 series is just as good, and save you some money.
You need a 3000 series if you are going to be a professional in this industry.
I appreciate the video, but you guys left out the most important parts IMO

@samedaydumpster Thanks for your feedback we appreciate your insight.
We deal with customers who use these trucks for a wide variety of applications such as landscaping, construction, roofing, farming and many more.
In this video we tried to demonstrate that having a 2500 RDS can be implemented in small scale dumpster operation and a wide variety of other fields.
We agree that if your sole use for the truck is to run a large dumpster company a 2500 transmission would not be an efficient option and their are scenerios you can get in that the truck with a 2500 would not work for some dumpster companies.
From time to time we do get trucks with 2500 transmissions that we build hooklifts on and these trucks are not always catered to large dumpster guys.
We try to be as transparent and open about what our customers are buying and if it does not work for a certain industry we would be completley upfront with them and steer them into a truck that works best for them.
We believe hooklift trucks can be used in many different applications not just dumpster rental.

The guys above nailed the issues. Inclines and declines would be a nightmare. Uneven surfaces and soft surfaces too. The last issue, was the 2500 truck increasing rpm in neutral during the head to head? I ask because the 3000 truck was slow as hell manipulating the hook compared to the 2500. I feel like the 3000 was at idle the entire time. Just something else to keep it apples to apples. Not bashing at all. Just trying to keep it real for first time buyers. Solid content as usual!

This is correct the 3000 was idling and the 2500 was idling up to accomadate. We just wanted to show the capability of the trucks when they are side by side. But this is definitely true. If you work on heavy inclines or rough terrain the 3000+ series is the way to go. Thanks for watching!

Great video but that wasn’t using the 3000 to its full potential!!! I’m assuming the 2500 was using the throttle during all movements, the 3000 could have during many of them.
I’ll challenge you to the same race in a T280 3000 transmission,,purchased from you,,,, only difference,,, I will win!!!

This video was pretty frustrating to watch. An asphalt parking lot is ideal but not the norm for most. Smooth with no incline. Come on now. The $30k price difference isn’t for the same truck with 2 different transmissions. When backing up to hook up to a container requires adjustment as you get closer to connect. Each adjustment requires going into neutral adjusting and then back in reverse. There could be a few adjustments which is annoying to say the least.
Why try to justify spending $150k for a 2500 tranny? Just don’t order them that way please.
One of my trucks has a 2500. The other has a 3000 and the third truck has a Ford tranny. It’s not even close. I’d go with a 3000, ford then a 2500.

      Thanks for your feedback Frank.
This video is defieitely guaged more towards your landscaping guy who might not need the capacity of the 3000 transmission and doesnt know he could do the same thing for less money!
We always suggest the 3000 to anyone who is in the trash hauling game.
