    Catching up on your channel recently, been in the biz for a couple years now and about to purchase my first RO truck. Smith bodies seems like a very quality product. Curious on their availability/lead time and sales. Thanks for the content, keep it up! 🇺🇸

    Some nice looking trucks. If I had known Smith before I'd bought my last truck I probably would've gone a hooklift truck instead of the cable pull truck . Most of the hooklift upfitters I talked to in my area were clueless on the systems that they were installing it was pretty sad thats why I ended up going cable pull.

    • @samedaydumpster
      @samedaydumpster  Рік тому +1

      That's a question for Curtis Smith, the guy who built and unfitted this truck. It was his call on the type of controller to use. But yes.... I agree, very bulky.

      Those Firestone tires + the blackout wheels is where it's at! I'm running that setup on both my Peterbilts currently, besides a super badass look, they are actually 1000X easier to keep a black rim clean than trying to keep an aluminum wheel polished in this business.

    Legit question, prior podcast stated you have to have live PTO so hook works in P/N. These trucks do not have live PTOs, only work n D&R. Please expand

    • @robweick1887
      @robweick1887 Рік тому +2

      The myth that a 2500 Allison will only work in park or neutral is not true. They will work once you get moving. So backing up to a can the hook will work, it will slow down as you slow
      down.Hook your box and start loading and pulling forward the hook will work.They work exactly like a manual transmission would. Not quite as nice as a hot PTO, but again no different than a manual.

    • @samedaydumpster
      @samedaydumpster  Рік тому +2

      I used the term live PTO as an example.... I'll further explain this. I'll use my truck specifically as an example. My trucks have clutch pump systems. This runs off the serpentine belt on the motor of the truck. It allows the "clutch pump" to work and pump hydraulic fluid in any stage... Park, Neutral, Reverse or Drive. Which is what you want and need, nothing less. A live PTO will do the same thing. The issue is, there's a lot of up fitters that do know how to do this and they set up these trucks that they only pump while the truck is in park. Rob made a very good explanation just below this comment specifically how this Isuzu's system works.
      Great question and I appreciate the opportunity to further explain this. Thanks for watching.

      @chadprice4335 the 2k Alison is horrible for hooklift basically like a standard but you can turn it on and of at will mack and everyone else can run clutch pumps but isuzu can't because thers no room.i love my 2 2023 ftr but won't get anymore until they put a 3k Alison in them
