Wit all the absolute trash on UA-cam it's absolutely refreshing to see a coherent, professional video by a knowledgeable mechanic. Bravo!
I’m a 13 year old and I got this done in about a day and a half, thanks for easy instretions!
I took my 5.4 apart a year ago. I followed your video to put it all back together last week. Thanks for posting!
The absolute best replacement video from start to finish on the internet!
Thanks sooo freaking much for this
Absolutely one of the best videos I have ever watched
If you are doing this at home it's probably best to drop the oil pan and check the oil pick up for any bits of plastic that may have come off the chain guides, they can plug up your pick up and starve your engine of precious oil pressure. 🤙
Super thorough
Great communication
Great camera work
Great editing
I laughed when you said perfect after tightening a small bolt and the universal and socket flipped off and fell.
Your video only had 142 likes,, but ever one should have left the like,, but you didn't remind them...
Wow - I am so impressed. What a great step by step tutorial. Well done! Thank you!
From Haiti 🇭🇹 Im always watching al your videos carefully bcause you working as a good pro.bro.
Wow! Thank you so much this was a great step by step video I feel confident taking this task on now thanks to you. Impressive
Great job with everything, you showed the details of the key areas and as we can see the timing components are the easiest part it’s getting everything off especially the valve covers. I noticed you didn’t mention anything about the cam hold downs or the crank lock tool.. and I’m surprised that truck didn’t jump time with the broken right side guide? Awww so there is a square 3/8” female in the cams to move them, so you don’t need the cam adjuster tool.. nice.. just great video.. I have 2000 f250 5.4 2V same engine with 167k mi it’s not extending cranking or anything and runs great but how do I know if there is chain stretch? I have MX808 scanner is there a PID that can tell me an adaption value from 0° to see how much the ECU is compensating on the ignition? How do you know when it’s time to change chains and components? Thanks again one of the best videos ever on UA-cam 👍🏻
I echo all the comments below on what a great video this is. Well done!!
I’m taking my heads off to fix the spark plugs blowing out and putting on new head gaskets and timing chains guides and oil pump and water pump all new gaskets for $500 and a weekend I’ll have a very good 5.4 that I can actually run hard without question thank you for this video it has helped me get the tear down easy without taking everything completely apart I’m taking chunks off for easy reassembly
Very, very good video Fríend, actually you cover all points to fix the 5.4 engine timing chain.
use old crank seal to reinstall the new one.. perfect fit.
Ill have to try this. Thanks for a perfect video!
Do you have any videos in complete engine removal on the 10th gen, 5.4/4.6?
Really good walk through
Thank you for the excellent video!! Is the procedure the same for the 4.6 2v?
On the 3 valve videos, others put the tensioner in later which make it difficult because the spring loaded resistance. I ended up cross threaded bolt hole.
Great video, thank you.
Nice THOROUGH presentation. Appreciate it ! ☺️
I see mention (or entire vids) regarding Cam Phasers. Is that a part of this job on the 2V (E-series, FWIW) ?
Good video question I’m fixing to the same job on my 2002f150 5.4 when you’re aligning the marks for timing do I need to place the transmission on neutral? Thanks in advance
Thanks. So much,,,for. Everything,,,
Quickly question?
How long time take to make all that proyect..?
Is the procedure the same on a 2002 expedition 4.6 Windsor and or Romeo and how do you tell the difference?
LOL that high-speed hammering 😂
Nice job on this video!!!
Is there any way to get the power steering pully off without that tool you used?
Great video.
TRQ ? it's advised that you should always install a new oil pump like a melling Hi volume oil pump unless you think that oil pump has a extra 100,000 miles of life left in it.
Nice video, you didnt say why you installed new intake, I'm thinking you did due to the water jacket gasket seat blowing out and leaking like most do. I am wondering if I should do timing chains on my 2004 E350 Super Duty van that now has 180K and runs quiet and smooth and has lived on a diet of full synthetic since almost new??? It will take me 2 more years to reach 200K and then maybe do them???
Pretty sure you don't need to remove the intake manifold, alternator, etc unless you really want to. Look at the FordMakuLoco video for this engine. He left all that stuff on.
+Nathan Rekstad We appreciate the feedback. Sometimes there are multiple ways to accomplish the same repair. 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Thanks for your help
Thank you so much 🎉
Thanks good video 👍
Well done autofix
will this be the same as the 4.6 2v?
What a great video!
I would love to see an instructional video done on the Buick LaCrosse series.
Mines is a 2014 3.6L.
Does anyone have an idea what a consumer cost would be to have this work performed by a shop? Thank you in advance.
Only use ford OEM timing components on 4.6, 5.4, 6.8.
Does this work of form expedition with same engine
Great job
Can you add a link for the pulley removal tool?
Thank you ese . It's the same for 4.6 ?
Do the phaser bolts need replaced or can you reuse them
That was One FILTHY Engine ! What did you use to clean the top valley, heads, etc (on car) ?
PS the torquing visual aides are a Great touch 👍🏼🤓
+Stan S Thanks for watching. Buy the part in this video on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Will this work on a 2003 f 250 with a 5.4 triton
the tensioners that came with my timing chain came wiyh a plate no gasket. i misplaced one and want to know can i use a gasket compound for a sealer
+Robert W Johnson It is recommended to replace the gasket completely if you are missing one, instead of using a gasket compound.
How much is a job like this? And are you willing to do the same work on my Ford Expedition?
Where can I get a list of all parts and tools to do this job ?
I did the same job on my engine when i rotate the engine manually the chain gets loose and then it goes back up did I do something wrong maybe somebody can explain to me something I'm doing wrong
can you do this job without taking the intake manifold off? I can see taking the valve covers off. I have a svt lightning 5.4 2 valve 2004
+itsmeray01 You will need to remove the manifold in order to access the parts for a replacement.
When is this job necessary ?
Don’t you have to replace the sprockets?
What brand chain is that
Why did you take off the intake manifold though?
Headers as well like non of that needs to come off?
If I have to take all that off lol I'll junk the truck 😂
Can you teach me how to build your ideal homemade kick drum pedal, instead?
Oven cleaner cleans all these greased up covers like new..(rinse with water & blow dry. )
I like to see one done on a SVT lightning
+@MegaAce1987 We do not have a video for this repair right now, but we'll keep this request in mind for a future video! 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
My chain don’t fit all the way on both sprockets hmm
My 75F 100 pursue time and change on it. I'll go on whale, put a new time and change what it looked for housing. And somehow somebody touched the front seat behind the money balancer and didn't say nothing. What down the highway around 80 miles an hour in the truck just shut down. Add parking the yard. Haven't that was it in 70 years? Do you think I can fix the intern or not?
If they're, like, 7 years, very 7.
I'll put that 390 I have put my transmission network. I have a 4 speed with this radio too I just bought new clutch and everything zoned it in new fly wheel 2 to tap low grand mission.
That was a great running truck.
Headache at her broth and take call brighter and cam.
Don't know what I need to do. Change 7 years, it's time to do something. But what truck has no restaurant at all? No dance, no, nothing great truck.
Need help, give me the right way. Pour man out of your Alabama liberal disability.
VERY GOOD JOB, BUT IF IT'S ME I WAS GOING TO CLEAN UP THE CHAIN COVER AND CLEAN IT VERY GOOD AND PAINT THE CHAIN COVER WITH A PAINT SILVER COLOR, AND I REALLY LIKE TO GO OVERBOARD,
I want to say that your 11 o'clock and 12 o'clock and 12 o'clock IS WRONG!!!!! You have on the left 11 o'clock, Crankshaft KEYWAY is at 11 o'clock, and the right side is at 1 O'clock !!! Look at you video and this is where you NEED to be at !!!
Not your 11 12 12 will never happen ???? I have never seen any video have the crankshaft keyway at 12 o'clock even the tool for setting the crankshaft at the right position is set for 11 o'clock!!!
I LOVE this video but YOU SCREWED up this FACT!!!!
Took way more off that motor than needed to.
How much of the front end is recommended to take of to get to it. Just the fan and shroud?
