A+. very well done ! Friend has 2007 Explorer 4.6L with 15psi at idle and rough idle - at times - after warming up. I rcvd the factory manuals today and they are pitiful. After reviewing this vid I was made aware of the cam journal clearance problem, which will require heads and camshafts. I advised my buddy to sell his POS while it is still running. If the front was not welded on the job would be do-able for a retired tech, like me.

I'm writing this on 5/3/23. I know this probably won't be read by many at this point but I have to share my experience with Cloyes. I bought this set for my ailing 2006 F150 4.6L that had significant timing chain issues in May of '21. Once installed in my garage, I left the next day from Cape Coral, Fl to Anchorage, AK, almost 5,000 miles up through North Dakota and the AlCan highway. The truck seriously did not miss a beat. Besides using a couple grand in fuel hauling a fully (over)loaded trailer, the truck ran flawlessly. For a little 4.6, it took everything I had to throw at it and went up mountains with a little bit of a running start with ease ;) thanks to the absolute top notch quality and precision of my Cloyes timing kit. I am 51 and have been working on my own vehicles my entire life. I'll always be a Cloyes customer.

I appreciate this comment! Thanks for letting us know of a successful build, I'm looking at doing the same for my 5.4

@@itsheresydoing the same. Do you have any tips on how to hold the camshaft before taking off the timing chains?

A nice video. But how do you keep the cams from flipping when the chain's removed? They are under pressure to rotate and rotating can smash a valve... Ford says to remove three specific rockers on each bank. Do you have a better way?

These assholes didn't put that in the video lol you can remove one chain at a time while carefully holding the cam with a wrench or a socket so you slowly release tension when the chains removed

This video is lacking in some important details. If you do it like this, you’ll need a new engine when you fire it up.

I thought that not suppose to move the crank shaft dot from its 6 clock position while putting the chain on. Can someone elaborate on that please? Thank tou

All you have to do is use vice grips to lock on the cam to keep it from flipping. I will not do another one of these with out pulling the engine, just don,t like standing on my head.

Hello, can someone help me install this distribution kit in two vehicles with a 5.4 engine. And when they get hot, they start to fail a lot and the vehicle pays off. Has anyone had the same ?

If the cam and journals are worn down just a little from low oil pressure. THAT WILL THROW OUT THE LIFTERS!
