I own two great Honda cars, S2000 and NSX. Not all people are Honda gaiters who dislike this car. Some are Honda fans who hate this car, including me and maybe most of the Japanese. This car is not at all an “NSX.” Americans have the nerve to call it that and taking the credit of what the original NSX did in motor sport. This car never get the hype of what the original NSX had. Dealers back then are hesitant to sell an NSX and just keep it as a collection while this car is already fading away. We don’t live in a world where we are out of petrol and start driving electric motors just yet. Make an advance car with all the latest technology but don’t call it an NSX. That’s like putting an electric motor on a proper V8 mustang. Take to every Japanese car enthusiasts what they think of the “American NSX.” I bet they will all be disgusted.
Right? I get the sense that people knock it because they can’t get over the fact that it comes from Acura/Honda. Yet if they just looked at the car for what it is without being biased towards Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc, they’d see the value in the car...
@Christian Perez The old NSX was only better then a single Ferrari, overall all other Ferrai's at the time were much better. And modern Ferrari's are decades ahead of the new NSX
Chris Harris is the only reviewer I care to watch, almost anywhere. No frills (except the effects on this vid). No nonsense. Just true, genuine perspective.
funny thing the new nsx is facing the same questions or issues when the first one came out almost 30 years ago..only to be appreciated much later..i feel the same fate with the current one..a mini 918 with a reliability of a honda, yes please
The original nsx was loved from day one. What surprised me though was how few they sold in later years. Or that they even sold it so long after it’s intro. They never updated it because it was too perfect to begin with.
My brother has this car. He simply replaced the Acura badges with Honda ones. Its an accessory you can buy at the dealer & they install it for free along with Honda badges on the steering wheel, inside the car, & a Honda engine cover. Costs like 250 dollars. No biggie.
My brother had the original NSX, He took Me for a ride in it and Wrecked it in a turn, the rear end kicked out real bad and we ended up in the guard rail causing thousands of dollars of damage and head injury to Me. Snap over steer probably, ya that sucked, not a fan of the NSX
True review. From a true driver. " Engineered by people who care " " Really special " " Greater than the sum of its part " Shame they are not making more.
People always want to say Japanese cars and bikes don't have any character, any personality. Every other video review I've seen of the new NSX has said this about it, but in none of them did I see the NSX driven the same way that Chris Harris drove this one (drifting). The may not be as flamboyant as a Ferrari or Lambo, but it has personality none the less. A Camry's personality is similar to a staid, reliable person who always shows up for work early and never makes a scene or disappoints anyone. Others make an argument, especially about bikes, that certain brands don't have any personality because they never break. Well, if somethings personality trait is that it always breaks, this is like a friend who is always asking for money or help doing things.
I've never figured out what people mean when they say an inanimate object has character or personality. Personalities belong on people, not cars. If my car had a personality, chances are it's a lousy personality and I wouldn't want to live with it.
late reply, but if by "character and personality" they mean "being unreliable pieces of garbage that break down every hour" then yes, Japanese cars don't have a "character and personality".
I've watched this review several times. This is one of the few car reviews literally done in rain by Chris and he had in his words a bloody good time. I really want one.
I like the old Chris Harris better when he controlled the content on his UA-cam channel. This is like Chris trying too hard to sound enthusiastic reading some script by Top Gear writer. Shame. I do believe Chris can be the saving grace of the show though. Amazing presenter. Just not this one.
This car is so underrated. My absolute #1 choice, even if I had all the money. As well as Chris Harris as a presenter. I've been a huge fan ever since his going-out-for-bread in a Testarossa/512 bit. Great job
I had the opportunity to video, sit, and rev one and I must say this car is amazing. It looks like a super car, it sounds like a super car, the interior is super futuristic, it's a stunning car, I can't wait to drive it my self.
That Honda badge is actually worth more than any other badge in automotive history! Soichiro Honda was a humble and honest once in a lifetime GENIUS who didn't think of money first but focused on delivering engineering perfection instead. Honda has dominated in so many motorsports more than any other manufacturer and forever will because racing is in their DNA. Not ferrari nor porsche have dominated so many categories of motorsports like Honda have. They dominate ferrari and mercedes in F1 today just like they did back in the day with Senna, Prost, Mclaren and Williams. They also came up with the NSX back in the 90s which literally sent ferrari back to the drawing board!! They dominated them not only on track but on the road also with a car that had only 290bhp. The NSX-R just annihilated every other Porsche or Ferrari of that time. Honda also makes the best engines in the world, just think about their F1 engines, their Type R and Mugen engines, their racing engines. Their achievements in motorsports are unparalleled. From F1 to Indy to BTCC to MotoGP and Superbike and everything in between they win it all since so many decades. Plus they are so damn diverse damn it!! The most genius company of all time. So yes, stop it with the "humble Honda" badge you damn british journalists!! You are the only ones that say this!! This badge is worth more than Ferrari and Porsche. Honda just doesn't like to steal money from people. Their company culture is engineering perfection at prices that people can afford. And apart from the incredible racing heritage, you are definitely getting extraordinary quality, engineering perfection and incredible value for money!!!
This top tier production quality from the top gear crew together with Chris Harris behind the wheel is in my opinion the best car show there has ever been. Keep it up !
Another video editor with ADD, too caught up with what HE can do with video of the car. Video editors should be caught up with showing what CHRIS can do with the car.
ridiculous isn't it. I've been moaning about it for years. I sat watching this... all the usual suspects, and then when he gets to describe the dash board, I'm already thinking, here we go, 1.6 second shot... yes! then cut away to moodily out of focus shots of tyre walls etc. As previously mentioned, ADD, D(definitely)
exactly. way over the top. Looks like an 8 minute commercial. (...) I like my Harris downtempo, in his own pace, contemplative yet informative with the OCCASIONAL wow while drifting the undriftable
Japan is stepping up the game! At the time, the Japanese automaker announced that worldwide production would be capped at just 350 units. And the NSX taken to Laps Suzuka Circuit in Japan 2-seconds faster than the 2021 NSX . The 2022 NSX Type S was first presented with an Acura badge in early August.
D C I know, the original NSX was stunning. It's such a shame what they did to this abomination. But yeah, just like you I thought the original NSX was just gorgeous! Too bad about the new one, heh?
chicago2370 I was just having a little fun with him. But the new NSX is to the old NSX in the same way the RX-8 is to the RX-7. They may be the successors of the last gen but in name only. Neither looks, mechanics, philosophy or what made those cars so wonderful and why its fans loved them was passed on to the successors. And who knows maybe that was a smart business decision. But one thing im sure of though is that neither inspire you with that certain indescribable thing the predecessors did when you laid your eyes on them.
What you describe seems more about a human perceptual issue than objective analysis. Just like the vast majority always prefer the version of a song they HEARD FIRST over any version they hear later.
What a machine. If you think about it, what Honda has done with the NSX is crazy. There is no physical connection whatsoever between its steering wheel and brake pedal and their respective functions and yet they perfectly feel as if there is. What kind of engineering depth they must have had to achieve that? They took future technology known to ruin driving experience like hybrid drivetrain, brake by wire, etc and made a true sports car out of it that is every bit as characterful and feelsome as the best driver's cars (like the Mk1 NSX) from the past. Its price may be only a fraction of the Porsche 918 but it's even more advanced than the Porsche in a number of ways. For example, its steer by wire system has better feel than the electric steering found in the Porsche, which goes to show who's got better engineering background. If the majority of car buying population were real car enthusiasts, not badge snobs, NSXs would be flying out of showroom floors while 918s would be sitting quitely in Porsche showrooms for months.
People don't like what they can't afford boss. I will drive anything that gets me down the street. It's A blessing to now be able to afford the sports cars l have.
I can feel the passion from Chris and it feels like he meant every single word of what he said about this new awesome machine from Honda !!! Hat off to him and the new NSX. Long live the King indeed !!!
I simply don't understand why almost every reviewer is calling this car soulless. This is one of the few reviews that gets it right. The NSX isn't meant to be in the same class as the 488. As Chris said, it's more of a poor man's 918 and that even better as far as I'm concerned. It's a car that can hang with the best on the track, while still being comfortable and manageable enough to drive every damn day. That's where it's at.
I keep saying it. This ia the future of the supercar. Those big displacement gas guzzling supercar engines will soon be a relic in a museum. We all loved the simplicity if the old NSX, but Honda couldnt just dust off a 20 y.o formula and expect it to be cutting edge in 2017. The word "hybrid" is what is messing up this car's chi (we can thank the Prius for that) but this is engineering at its finest
I've watched this a dozen times already, and the review and the car are still great. It is sad that Honda is discontinuing this. Hopefully, they have a great successor for this-something not as advanced/expensive but just as cool.
I was a little unsure about this car until I test drove one yesterday....OMG!!! The car is a beast!! And really affordable compared to its competitors. Unfortunately I can't afford one at the moment but I hope to soon..... I think it would be interesting if Acura made an NSX "light" entry level version for like 40K
I love it, but a car with 4 motors should at least have 4 seats. That said 2 motors per passenger = Awesome. Honda build quality and vtec is very solid.
fourth comment in this video and there is a grand tour version of this Honda NSX with James May and Mike Skinner since their fans are likely to dislike this video. do like in favour Chris Harris's version since he's taking this from a racing driver perspective and do this type of review for series 24
@@omairsh8 Toyota built Lexus LFA from the ground up which is as good as the NSX but they think Supra wouldn't sell at high price if they put LFA engine
This car was the result of committee design (unlike the original and far superior version). It took forever to get out the door, they kept changing the engine config, it cost double what it was supposed to, in all, a disaster that will be forgotten. Honda/Acura is a car company with very humble, practical, roots, and this car should express the pinnacle of performance while getting good gas mileage, and being simple and easy to repair. Soichiro Honda was a brilliant designer, and by all accounts a terrific human being, and they should scrap this hot mess and start all over, with a single person leading the design. Look at how great the Brit designer did for the Ford Bronco; that is a smash hit product; not too expensive and has the design integrity that comes from a single mind directing the team.

Don't u mean that is not the father car because the sequel sucks
Even though they just afford cheap vw or other trash, they can look down upon nsx without any experience...
we love to hate, especially idiots like you and sell outs like top speed
Wash everyone's memory, replace the badge with Ferrari or Lamborghini and suddenly EVERY single critic is silenced.......
Right? I get the sense that people knock it because they can’t get over the fact that it comes from Acura/Honda. Yet if they just looked at the car for what it is without being biased towards Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc, they’d see the value in the car...
Daanish Gupta the only thing they could criticize than would be the interior.
You could say the exact same thing with name brand colleges. I think it's called confirmation bias.
Lol no man judt no
That is correct...
The old nsx is more ferrari than the ferrari itself at that time.
Orek Tempe 🤦🏻♂️
probably why it was successful, look at the competition they had then and now. there are tones of great cars to choose from
To that I say all right all right all right all right
Orek Tempe y just made a fool of yourself
@Christian Perez The old NSX was only better then a single Ferrari, overall all other Ferrai's at the time were much better.
And modern Ferrari's are decades ahead of the new NSX
Chris Harris is the only reviewer I care to watch, almost anywhere. No frills (except the effects on this vid). No nonsense. Just true, genuine perspective.
My favourite car journo. If I'm a reviewer then I'd just do this.
funny thing the new nsx is facing the same questions or issues when the first one came out almost 30 years ago..only to be appreciated much later..i feel the same fate with the current one..a mini 918 with a reliability of a honda, yes please
trustgtr33 I have magazines of the times, they always praised the NSX, I never read any major critique.
A mini 918 with porsche carrera performance...
trustgtr33 What questions and issues for the first one? Everyone loved it.
The original nsx was loved from day one. What surprised me though was how few they sold in later years. Or that they even sold it so long after it’s intro. They never updated it because it was too perfect to begin with.
trustgtr33 - I agree everyone loved it but the badge snobbery meant it never sold well... in Britain anyway
My brother has this car. He simply replaced the Acura badges with Honda ones. Its an accessory you can buy at the dealer & they install it for free along with Honda badges on the steering wheel, inside the car, & a Honda engine cover. Costs like 250 dollars. No biggie.
Acura is a pure american badge because Americans are badge snobs, same with Toyota naming cars Scion.
Thiterest1 we never asked Honda to change their badge for us.
@Mike Tyson because honda is cooler than acura
My brother had the original NSX, He took Me for a ride in it and Wrecked it in a turn, the rear end kicked out real bad and we ended up in the guard rail causing thousands of dollars of damage and head injury to Me. Snap over steer probably, ya that sucked, not a fan of the NSX
4:15 i have never seen such an expression of pure joy on someone’s face than that.
And that too from Chris Harris is a Honda nsx
Starting to sound a bit too much like Clarkson there Chris... Stay yourself, that's how we love you!
Calyn45 yeah the bezel watch pun, I noticed that was somewhat clarkson
To be fair, even with just the video you can sense those paddles don't have a nice "click" to the action.
More like Richard Hammond...Clarkson's sarcasms is pretty hard to reproduce...
Calyn45. He's British, they all sound the same
Spoonzaza 💯% agreed!!!!!
True review. From a true driver.
" Engineered by people who care "
" Really special "
" Greater than the sum of its part "
Shame they are not making more.
James May loved it too
Way better than the BMW i8.
Eeeeeeeeyyyyyyy, valid argument
the i8 is the ugliest BMW that I've seen in my life.
late reply, but literally anything's better than bmgarbage lmao
But this car is American, not Japanese.
I drove in my friend's 1997 NSX. The acceleration and cornering grip were absolutely amazing!!
"when you want something fast and well engineered, you went to Honda"
somebody please tell that Fernando....xD
Things have changed now though..
well, Fernando's Mclaren-Hondas definitely weren't fast and well engineered
This didnt age well
The supercar hybrid techy finally trickled down to near 100k level. As always, brought to you by the Japanese
6:18 line of the decade for me.
Nissan Gt-R: Nobody can challenge me!
Honda NSX has entered the chatroom
Nissan Gt-R: FINALLY! A WORTHY OPPONENT! OUR BATTLE WILL BE LEGENDARY!
Lexus LFA has entered the chat room
@@jameschatman2171 It's a beauty but it's getting old.
There's something great about the way Chris slides cars in his videos, the NSX is a stunning car.
I really like Chris Harris. BBC made the right move with making him new tg presenter.
But everyone is still salty and keeps disliking the videos.
bbc made the right move, he made the wrong move :P
It'd be great if they could get jay kay as well. Harris and jk would be legendary, both are serious petrol heads
chris harris gives hope to the new top gear...
he's the only reason i still watch new top gear
I like the old Chris Harris better when he controlled the content on his UA-cam channel. This is like Chris trying too hard to sound enthusiastic reading some script by Top Gear writer. Shame. I do believe Chris can be the saving grace of the show though. Amazing presenter. Just not this one.
I would agree with Ehdgur. It seems that he is trying to sound too enthusiastic...too much like imitating those three...
nadeo4441 Harris sells himself... Sad
"That's not sports car power, super car power!" (3:17 is where you can hear it)
Me: "MOAR POWAH BABE"(if you watched donut media you can get it)
It shoots out blue flames like that....cool 😎
"there's a R8 and mclaren p1 look....." oh, great! i can have 2 of my favorite cars in one hahahah
This is the best review of the NSX.
He know how to appreciate hi-tech super car and he knows that is the future.
That's a propper car to take to the race track. Might feel cheap in the interior but it will go round the track faster than many other supercars
If I wanted fancy interiors I would buy luxury suvs
When you're paying that much, why can't you have both?
@@christopherjc54 because race cars aren't about luxury
Hate to say it, but this is so much better than anything on Grand Tour
This car is so underrated. My absolute #1 choice, even if I had all the money. As well as Chris Harris as a presenter. I've been a huge fan ever since his going-out-for-bread in a Testarossa/512 bit. Great job
I had the opportunity to video, sit, and rev one and I must say this car is amazing. It looks like a super car, it sounds like a super car, the interior is super futuristic, it's a stunning car, I can't wait to drive it my self.
Always good to see an objective honest review from someone that knows how to drive, and if it's good or not.
cant wait for tonight Grand Tour show
Meho Mehmed El Fatih okay, but what does that have to do with this video?
Ummm, because the grand tour is better...
TopDawg e you sure about that?
SAME HERE....for the first few episodes. now its like, should i watch it right away or later. uuum later it is.
Michael Mordecai Its about that Grand Tour is better than this shit achive it mate.
I'd have the Classic NSX for weekends and the new NSX for daily use.
ShoryukenDatAzz but instead you have no NSX.
My favorite dream car.
When you thought top gear was dead, this man came in and save the day 😍
Holy shit why are there so many cuts, this hurts to watch
Steven Chabot
its top gear...
the grand tour its the same
Another video editor with ADD, too caught up with what HE can do with video of the car. Video editors should be caught up with showing what CHRIS can do with the car.
I'm having a seizure as I'm writi
ridiculous isn't it.
And the NSX taken to Laps Suzuka Circuit in Japan 2-seconds faster than the 2021 NSX
. The 2022 NSX Type S was first presented with an Acura badge in early August.
I give honda alot of love for always excedding expectations
absolutely stunning car.
D C I know, the original NSX was stunning. It's such a shame what they did to this abomination.
But yeah, just like you I thought the original NSX was just gorgeous! Too bad about the new one, heh?
Daniel Van Dusen the new nsx is great....what hapeended is they postoponed the launch for so long tgat people lost interest
chicago2370 I was just having a little fun with him.
How about you stop being a hater about the car and dont watch the video next time instead of saying negative things about it...
Brilliant journalism by Chris. Great piece
This is the first time I watch top gear since the old squad. This guys cool.
That expressions says it all
What a machine.
The cinematography on this video is great
I LOVE Honda and I adore this new NSX! Honda is back in business :D!
I love the NSX, but *OMG the video is awesome* . Give your editors a raise.
People don't like what they can't afford boss. I will drive anything that gets me down the street. It's A blessing to now be able to afford the sports cars l have.
Dope ass hypercar
jeremy once said in the old top gear ,he was excited to drive this car though
Skip all the effects. I liked the old CHOC videos better. Its like someone in this vid said once, "new isnt always better".
This is like the lfa review
Very comprehensive and intelligent review, thanks Chris. Great work!
Thank you Chriss Harris. Without you TG will be ruined to ashes.
Honda....The Power of Dreams !!!!
Get this straight... Honda is Beautiful... Honda is Amazing.... Honda is Reliable..... Honda is.... HONDA.
Woah! Comparing the NSX to a Porsche 918!!
I love it, but a car with 4 motors should at least have 4 seats.
That said 2 motors per passenger = Awesome.
Honda build quality and vtec is very solid.
I dont care what other people say about that honda nsx but Im going to buy it because its just looks so COOL
The Mighty NSX rises again!!!
Magnificent 👌
fourth comment in this video and there is a grand tour version of this Honda NSX with James May and Mike Skinner since their fans are likely to dislike this video. do like in favour Chris Harris's version since he's taking this from a racing driver perspective and do this type of review for series 24
Toyota : Out source Supra engine to BMW M3
Honda : Hold my drink 🍺 NSX
Honda engineers are some of the best in the world. Everything's built in house
@@omairsh8 Toyota built Lexus LFA from the ground up which is as good as the NSX but they think Supra wouldn't sell at high price if they put LFA engine
Just you guys wait for the NSX-R debut. This car is special and any car hitting under 3s is special no matter what brand.
Of course you can skid it around, you're Chris Harris!
Mohd arif azfar and you can turn off all nannies by holding down the vsc button
Like (Honda) Like (Chris Harris) Like (Top Gear)
Finally , someone driving it appropriately 😂🙌🏼🔥
I always like the new NSX, it reminded me of Audi R8 and I love it so much
I don't know Chris Harris before this, but I really like how he reviews cars. Him, Clarkson, Hammond, May and the dude from fifth gear are all great.
As far as I'm concerned, this is just "Chris Harris on Car"s with a MEGA budget. Top gear? What's that?
That’s what I call a review
Chris Harris is single handedly bringing Top Gear's glory back.
It so beautiful. NSX is my current dream car. I could stare at it all day. Unfortunately, that's likely all I'll ever be doing with an NSX.
If you forget that this video is made by Topgear it actually is pretty good !
Oi! hands off the Honda Fit/Jazz chris, that car's slow but excellently engineered, and more young people need to own them.
I like the new NSX, it brings hybrid supercars to the less afluent of the rich people. Not to us plebs still though.
Yeah, every car company makes slow but reliable cars
olafur stefan not Vauxhall.
I adore my Fit Sport. When I win the lotto I'll buy the NSX for fun and supe my Fit because she deserves it.
Sky Watcher: I'm a big Ford fan... but I do feel like the Honda fit would make the perfect daily driver. I would not mind owning one for that purpose. I can almost see my self spray waxing one right now. . . =)
Love it 😍...a Performance Supercar that will be reliable and doesn't rub it in peoples faces 👌😉
Love the review and because of Chris I bought my 1st NSX in 2019! and I love it
Make sure you drive it a million miles and scratch it real good oh and get into a financial crisis so I can buy it cheap.
Erafune lol wth
Having an interior that is "Honda like" isn't a bad thing.
Best Honda commercial ever made
The new nsx is awesome. The only current Honda I would actually buy. Not a fan of suped up front wheel drive sedans and hatches. Just pure sports cars.
The highest quality products are always from Japan with a lower cost... The most expansive products is always Europe with lower quality... Try to drive European cars every day like a Japanese cars then you will see which one breakdown first.
I think the word you're looking for is "expensive", with an "e". Expansive is a different word.
It's perceptions. My wrx sti and mitsu Evo 9 and Honda's and Toyota couldn't handle being pushed hard and broke down within two years of owner ship. My BMW has been pushed to the limits on daily basis and I haven't repair broken parts in three years.
The Jester from GTA 5

AS Gaming21 that's what they modeled the jester after
Yeah thats what the Jester was based off of.
AS Gaming21 yes u right

One of the best episode from the new Top Gear. Cuz he knows how understand a unique car.
No wonder he's the second favorite in James May's opinion lol
