Machiavelli's style makes "the Prince" quite an enjoyable book to read. He uses particularly powerful analogies. My favorite is the lion and the fox. One of the greatest quotes of both the book and this video comes from the beginning of Chapter 18:
"A prince, therefore, being compelled knowingly to adopt the beast, ought to choose the fox and the lion; because the lion cannot defend himself against snares and the fox cannot defend himself against wolves. Therefore, it is necessary to be a fox to discover the snares and a lion to terrify the wolves."

Macchiavelli is delightful in his Tuscan language, which I have had the opportunity to listen and understand as a child since it arrived to twentieth century almost unchanged in pronunciation and verbiage.
He spoke for powerful people of the Renaissance courts, not for lower class individuals, therefore he is a political philosopher!
His book is about to achieve and maintain power for higher ideals not for lower personal interests 😮!
Machiavelli was demonized since his teachings go against Christian teachings, which requires benevolence and forgiveness.
He knew that in higher circles the fight for supremacy was to the last blood, therefore the end justifies the means.
( since many commented about the man who interrupts you, I would guess that he was speaking for the man that publicly, not only interrupts your reasoning but often contradicts you, which can be an absolute form of passive aggressive behavior especially if he does it in a way that embarrasses you in front of many, as we must presume he was talking about court discussions happened or even street and bar rooms discussions are still conducted now.
Machiavelli was a good man and his mother was tortured for unknown reasons, so he knew how cruel humans could be and he had the courage to address this side of humanity.
His model was the Valentino, son of a powerful pope who was so ruthless, that he was rumored to have his own brother killed and for sure killed his sister Lucrezia Borgia’s husband ( whom she loved dearly)in the Vatican!!!
He also killed the supposed lover and favorite, of his father, while the poor devil tried to hide under the pope’s mantel!😮
Lucrezia for those who ignore true history, was a good woman who was used by his powerful men in the family, for achieving via matrimony power; she died at age 39 after having given birth to 9 children and was very much mourned by her last husband a powerful man of the Renaissance; one of her sons became cardinal and commissioned the Trevi Fountains
Lucrezia was educated and religious and never poisoned anyone 😂

You know, I often find myself interrupting people who are telling me stories. Someone once said I need a picture drawn for me. I gotta say however, in my defense. I never went to college and never liked high school, but I was born with I high functioning math type brain. So I’m actually pretty smart without the education, it’s helpful all day long just simplifying most interactions. The way this affects me is when I’m listening to a persons story, i know they’re leaving out important details, or minimally important details, and I’ll ask them a question. I don’t change the subject or cut them off completely, I just feel I need to know something at that moment. They often say “Just let me finish”, they don’t like the interruption. I don’t care if they have three master degrees, my brain is always clicking, and I can tell they left something out. It’s not disrespectful at all, there’s people like me out there so don’t be offended.

On a scale of 1 to 1000 where 1 is the gambling bar fool, and 1000 is King Solomon, Machiavelli is like a 900. He is one of the few men in history who knew God exists. He's also one of the few men in history who knew man's nature. He was often on the brunt end of that misery, which is why he could write so well about it.
A story about him goes, that in his exile, he'd put off his farmer's clothes, and put on his courtly gowns, and write. It's such a shame that he was treated so poorly. But, that same misanthropy left no illusions.

Machiavelli was a very wise man. Misunderstood... for sure. But, wise nonetheless. Those same principles he employs in the Prince actually work. It's just you can't force them. But, Machiavelli was wise, in other areas too. He was actually trying to help install peace, and stop the constant warring. His works were meant to be published for peace.
He wasn't an entirely good man... there's stories I've heard about him that aren't that flattering, but they're also probably rumors and not true. But, he was wise. Very wise.
