- Alton Towers has been building and investing in brand new rides for the majority of its opening time, and in recent years having opened Wickerman, The Alton Towers Dungeons and The Retrosquad, what's next for the park?? With the proposed Nemesis retrack coming soon, does that leave even longer for a potential coaster? Or will we still get another very soon? Join me as i discuss all this and more!

The irony is that Nemesis this season is running the smoothest it has in years.
I thought that too when I went a fortnight ago. I also said I can’t remember it being that fast the last time I went 6 years ago, was awesome!
Alton needs a lot of investment. It’s really lacking in so many areas. Permanent flat rides needed asap, and fully themed. A new coaster (properly themed) needed as well.
They should shut the whole of forbidden Valley next year for the retrack of nemmy and to build a brand new coaster on the carpark next to air, they love keeping things top secret so would work perfectly 😁, imagine a brand new nemmy with red water again and two other coasters plus a permanent flat where ripsaw was, the place would be buzzing once again 👍🏼
Awesome stuff Dan. I say we all start a petition for the Cross Valley RMC. Get enough signatures and they'd HAVE to listen! I'll give Mr Wardley a call and get the ball rolling.
In theory i like the idea. But the gardens MAKE Alton towers in my opinion! I’d really really miss it…

This is a great cross valley rmc design I’ve seen and would be phenomenal if it was actually built
God. It will never happen but an RMC conversion of the original cross valley coaster would be number one RMC and number one in the world
I just wish they’d extend the small area where duel is. Make an entire village that’s Halloween themed. The spaces in between sections could be improved also. I always use fast track and I feel like I’ve walked a marathon when I’m there for multiple days due to the walking and fact they never have sky ride active. It’s really tiring 😅
That's a good idea like give it an actual haunted house with actors or ride through
More adult theme please Mr Alton, I've always imagined a fantastic outdoor coaster that plunges you into a black hole coaster from bright sunshine, you wouldnt see a thing for a few seconds - awesome but the kiddies couldn't hack it !
I wish that merlin opened all their parks for longer, like all over theme parks around the world. This 4pm 5pm closing has to stop. They are really taking the fun out of their whole entire company.

It’s because there is little to no outdoor lighting. They have spotlight for scarefest but that gets expensive quick

It’s interesting thinking how much of this stuff has happened and it’s only two years later. Rapids have the waterfalls, retrosquad is gone, project ocean under construction. Maybe a coaster next? Fingers crossed 🤞

Alton really needs some permanent flat rides. The coaster are good and all, but don’t get me wrong. It’s mostly a coaster park.

Tbh I think I know where the next rollercoaster will be. Mutiny Bay. Think about it, Wicker man is the only coaster in the area. So many possibilities for it too! A pirate theme, water monster theme ( probably related to nemesis ) or will it be another flume? Who knows?!

Dan please do more future speculation videos on non-Merlin parks as they’re the more exciting projects in my opinion! Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Oakwood, Paultons etc..,

I heard a while back that b an m have stopped making the trains and train parts for nemesis and the only way it would stay is to retract it. I'm gutted they are gonna fill the centre beam with sand tho I love the sound nemesis makes now

I was first there over 35 years ago. I remember the sea lions at the bottom of the entry promenade and the wonky house that Jack built. Was there ever couple of years until I became a dad. My boy is terrified of fair grounds so missed it until a few years ago. I went on and on about the river rapids and log flume. Convinced him he would enjoy them. Flume was gone and the building of a wooden coaster was well under way. I'm guessing it was wicker man and our visit was the previous year. Managed to get him on the river rapid and thought it was broken. So slow compared to what I remembered. Spent the rest of the day bored in the tiny cbb area. Huge waste of money. Boy is now 10 and still petrified to even try any ride anywhere. Guess I'll never see another theme park.
You do make some good points for Alton towers it would be nice to see some great flat rides or even a new coaster??

I went to Alton a few days ago there is a giant space near spin ball and they could easily make a new ride
To me, there are 3 perfect fits for the park coaster wise:
1. RMC Raptor
2. Mack Multilaunch
3. Mack Extreme Spinner
To me the RMC raptor ticks all the boxes, compact, low to the ground, high thrill, 1st in the UK and not too expensive

@@DigitalDan Unfortunately the Smiler and Oblivion were closed bc of winds and it’s not that windy but other than that it was good
WE WERE SITTING IN THE SEATS OF OBLIVION when it closed AND WE HAD HANDED OUR BAGS IN FOR THE SMILER when it closed the first time and didn’t reopen but oblivion did and WE GOT SO CLOSE Nemesis was good it had a 0 min queue lol
I remember John Wardley saying about the parks plans to build a Stand-Up coaster in the Katanga Canyon area a few years ago…. actually think it could be amazing

I feel like rita is still there because its one of the fastest rollercoasters they have and isn't as extreme as the other ones so its quite good for people that are not big fans of rollercoasters!

I watch multiple theme park vloggers, something pleasure beach experience said on there opening day vlog is that merlin have 2 slots in 2023 for the uk, Chessington have 1 with jamanji an thrope new ride doesnt look like a b&m. They speculate that they would shut forbidden valley for the retrack of nemesis as nobody will will goto the area just for Galatica(as its the furthest point of the park) an they possibly use that slot to build a new ride in that area as towers seem to go 4-5 year for a new coaster, wicker man has been open since 2018, so that would fit the towers time 2024 would be 6 years cause B&M only have to provide the parts for nemesis they wont need to retrack it them selfs a 3rd part company can do that.
Interesting stuff! We shall wait and see! 👀

When I went to towers in October, Rita’s launch cable snapped 5 TIMES IN ONE DAY
My predictions:
1. We will see a big festival event at Alton Towers again like a comedy event at the towers to try and attract a young adult/ adult audience to the park.
2. Rita will be removed by 2025 and be replaced by a Mack coaster with a theme of a steampunk motorbike theme.
3. Retrosquad is a template for future flat rides. We will get a second flat ride in X-Sector and in Forbidden Valley.
4. The removal of Spinball Whizzer would expand X-Sector where we’ll get a dark ride themed to a deranged dental office like The Smiler’s sister ride.
Spinball whizzer isn’t in x sector though
They really gotta do something about the hotel prices. £200-£300 for one night that doesn't even include the dinner in the hotel. One night at Alton Towers shouldn't be costing me almost as much as a week in Spain

I went there twice last week and I went with my family on 1 Saturday and with my friend on 1 Monday but with my friend we got stuck on a ride which was annoying
i really want to see more dark rides, as much as i love coasters dark rides are just my favourite, along with a new flume or heck bring back the alton towers train!

In my opinion, Alton Towers don’t need a new rollercoaster! Instead they need some permanent flat rides! A MACK bobsled could work as a potential coaster as it attracts both families and thrill seekers! I don’t think a MACK launch is up there as it would clash too much with ICON!
This is a good idea but it is likely they put a thrill coaster in as wickerman was more of a family coaster. A Mack Big Dipper would be great

Disagree about the retro flat-rides, bro. What they have in place atm of where the Energizer used to be was a thrill. Much better than the energizer in MYO. I think it's great for towers to keep certain flat ride spaces open for quick and easy variation to the line-up of permanent rides.
Yep also thins the crowds in those areas knowing you can get a quick ride in
Funfact: Rita replaced a ride called boneshaker, and was opened on 1 Apr 2005. This is due to the ride's (boneshaker) gearbox experienced a mechanical failure and was closed on 9 Nov 2003.
I went on Sunday and forgot Nemesis was getting its retrack next year. I knew I was getting sentimental about the old girl for a reason! Hope they don’t ruin it with the upgrades.
I just want to see the Alton Towers of my childhood where there’s a better mix of the great rollercoasters but some permanent flatrides. Another Dark Ride that’s not for kids would be great (I would’ve gone on Charlie but nowhere near Gangsta Granny). I’d love to see the rapids return to a proper rapid form too.
And I love it to pieces, but they need to fix Hex if it’s going to be shut every time I go

It needs a Stealth type ride. But the height restrictions hinder that you'll never get the height unless you build a bigger hole than smilers

We know it’s coming to Europe in 2023 and we’d have seen land clearing/ride removal by now.
My theory is that Nemesis getting sand in the track to decrease sound, so then they can add another coaster roughly in the forbidden valley area and not be too noisy for the locals. 🧠 🧠🧠🧠🧠
Then…. Mack Big Dipper around 2025/26, similar to the one going to Europa Park, with a dark section like Saw, and launches as well.
A MACK Big Dipper might be in the pipeline for Blackpool Pleasure Beach… 👀

My prediction for SW9
A large intamin single rail to replace Congo river rapids, using its valleys, tunnels and interactions to create a thrilling terrain experience, and a first for Europe.
Also, I think it’s possible that they will brand SW9 as the nemesis retrack, especially if they make changes to the theming or surroundings which would mean the next coaster would be SW10 which would be perfect for marketing
The secret weapon programme is always something new and unique, first this, biggest that etc. Nemesis just getting some tlc isn't groundbreaking. Besides it will be plastered with 30th anniversary stuff- that will be the promotional angle.

I went to Alton towers today river rapids the smiler oblivion closed all day wicker man and spin all wizard temporarily closed but I hated Rita to rough I’d like to see that go

Everyone will hate me when I say this but replace nemesis with a single rail coaster which goes through the nemesis monster, it would be a uk first

As someone who can't ride coasters, vertigo and a bad back, I could sit all day and hear the coasters roaring.
They should retheme Spinball to the Iggle Piggle coaster as an expansion to CBeebies land. A much better theme to the location of that coaster
