I know a lot of Enthusiasts want it either gone or rethemed, but most of them seem to forget how popular it is to the general public, and its a great ride for all ages and for those who are too scared for nemesis' intensity and its darker theme. Galacticas chill and less thrilling layout and theme wouldn't compliment a new darker theme no matter how many times people say it will. Ideally, split Galactica from forbidden Valley and make it into its own little area, a more light hearted area, something more appealing for the wider audience. As beloved as Nemesis is, Galactica is easily the more popular one for Guests in general, especially when it was still air, that brand was really iconic and popular. Love to see the park bring the old name and theme back and finally complete it. Nemesis is mostly for Thrillseekers and Enthustiasts, while Galactica has a much broader appeal for all ages. I dont think the ride is going anywhere soon, last month they managed to get both stations and all 3 trains back in operation after who knows how long. Pretty evident they want to keep the ride for the foreseeable future.
Yeah, I don't like extreme rides, but I loved Air, as it was at the time. Actually it was my first "major" coaster... and sadly, my last. Haven't been to a theme park since. Honestly I would love to go on it again, a few times, and then perhaps I'd feel ready to take on Nemesis haha. But sadly I don't see myself going back to Alton Towers any time soon, can't really afford it. I think they should re-track it and give its old name back. But sadly I don't think that's what will happen.
I also think they should re-track / replace Oblivion with... Oblivion 2. Instead of putting a new ride in the empty space in X-Sector they should extend Oblivion so there's more to it than just the drop. They could make it an actual vertical drop too... but maybe not. Maybe the drop should stay true to the original.

So it would make sense to bring the hero of Nemesis back into the area.

I'm going to Alton towers (for the first time) soon so Galactica is going to the top of the list in case these rumours about them removing it are true (it also looks like a really fun ride).
The statement about it by being well kept is true, it closes down do to maintenance issues quite often some days :( I hope they just refurbish and retheme the ride instead of getting rid of it, it may be old but it’s still iconic!
I don't reckon it'll be a 'new' coaster but I reckon they'll definitely be updating it in some sense as it really doesn't fit the theme of the area anymore
Aww I really like Galactica, it’s nice and gentle. Saying that though I got stuck on it for half an hour in April - got a free return ticket for my troubles. It’s definitely aging badly though, they need to do something with it
You know those 'cameras' you're talking about, all land surveyers use them for any surveying work, so I'd say no, it doesn't only point to there being a new coaster, it could literally be anything, a new building, a new ride (maybe even a flat one, seeing at AT needs some more) or a change to the topography of the land or all of the above 😂. But I am thoroughly enthralled to find out what.
As a Telecommunications engineer I can confirm that these surveys are not needed for a telephone pole. So youre good there. However it would be needed if they were installing a new mobile mast so who knows 🤷🏻♂️
Love your channel btw....to add to the 'not a camera' bandwagon 🤪 the surveying equipment could just be to check heights of land or supports, for example to check the ground isn't subsiding or that support foundations haven't moved position over the years which could cause undue stress on the coaster...(London Underground have permanent little reflector targets in some tunnels for this purpose)
It's a great step-up coaster, and I know that because it was instrumental in helping me kick my phobia of rollercoasters. It would be very sad if it went. Let's hope for an overhaul.
It would be a shame to see galactica go as it is very iconic however i would love to see a striker coaster but with the smiler i dont think they will do that. Maybe a family coaster a bit like drayton manor or a stand up coaster? Merlin seem to like uk firsts and only 😂 Alton Towers PLEASE KEEP THE SOUNDTRACK from galactica for maybe another ride or something it is phenomenal. Keep up the great vids dan. ❤
Yeah but as it’s in Forbidden Valley it might be the new ride because when I was speaking to a member of staff they were saying something is definitely happening in forbidden valley. Personally I thing it’s Ripsaw Returns. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL ❤
The German in me wants a Red Barron flying coaster. Manfred von Richthofen, 80 confirmed air combat victories, wedgier of Herman Georing and commander of Der Filegende Zirkue. His story deserves to be told in the most emersive of all media, roller coasters. But honestly a WW1 fighter pilot themed ride, that goes over no man's land and ends with a giant drop (to signify the death of Der Rote Baron) that's simular to Oblivion (have it go through another hole), would be my favorite ride of all time.
I personally think a re-theme would be better as this was the first ever B&M flyer and it really was very popular when it first opened. If they added lots more theming, gave it new trains, a repaint and re-did the station, I think this could be a great fit in forbidden valley!
There is no bad coaster in the park, so it would be a shame to see any of them go. I wish they'd just expand the park onto the car park behind Galactica and build another. Galactica just needs a decend retheme. Paint it black, cover half of it and make it dark, and chase Phalanx thru space. Pring back VR to one of the loading bays as an option. Also still hoping Project Horizon is another Coaster.
I really hope it gets relocated, and the terrain doesn't make it impossible since Zambezi zinger (which was a bit of a terrain coaster with alot of tunnels, and when parc del cafe bought it they made it look like the coaster was made for that spot by adding and removing dirt where necessary
My view is it is either a new "dark future" theme with galactic-air or a future plan for a new coaster. As much as i enjoy the flying aspect. its now 22 years old and has been a problem basically all its working life. As it is still the prototype. But that being said I dont really know what coaster would take up in that space. What ever it is that could replace it. I would want it to be a "people eater" high capacity ride.
As much as it would be sad to see it or many of the current line up go, unfortunately this will eventually happen, I'd always have fond memories of riding Air/Galactica, but if it means we get something newer and better im all for it
A Mack Stryker would be awesome so long as it isn’t the bargain base model with minimal theming. Would bring something new and different to Towers that’s still well within the tree line.
As Moulder would say. " The truth is out there" If anyone is going to delve into the myths of amusement parks and sort the wheat from the chaff, it's you DigitalFox. I beleive🤣🖖😍
I am pretty sure that they are redeveloping galactica and pulling all the galactica theming out and taking it back to air. There is a redevelopment but it isn't a new coaster and they ain't pulling the beautiful AIR out.
I really hope they don’t remove Galactica, Alton Towers has built some amazing new additions over the years but Galactica still remains as one on my favourite rides 🙂, I understand that the park does need a new major secret weapon but I just think there are other places in the park that they can use to build it. I wouldn’t complain about a re-theme due to the nature of the area but I guess only time will tell what the future holds for Galactica, if a re-theme does happen though I must admit that I will miss the Galactica soundtrack . I personally hope it stays for many more years 🙂
Having a flying rollercoaster is such a USP for Alton towers. Would be a big big mistake to get rid of such a classic and well loved ride :((, wish they’d refurb and refresh it like they did to nemesis.
I'd love to see an evolution of Air > Galactica > ....... I think a next gen version of the Vekoma F.L.Y, where the flying coaster layout is present, but the seats rotate as well during the ride (I'm thinking Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift vibes, but in a flying sense). Improve the track, add a few cool inversions or elements that enhance the area, rid yourself of the chain lift and add a launch track.... Story should go back to the "weapon" used against the Nemesis, with it's own unique spin on that. I gots ideas, Hire me Alton Towers!
My Realistic Timeline Of The New Coaster 👀: 2025-Last season of Galactica 2026: Demolition begins, groundwork and construction starts midway through the year 2027: Construction finishes in March, ride opens in June/July Watch me be wrong in every way, shape and form 😆
I feel like Rita is less of an addition to the park than Galactica but they can do so much more with the area of Galactica. Rita just needs a retheme to match Thirteen I think. Also the coaster I most hope to come to towers and replace it is a vekoma launched flying like F.L.Y. because that coaster at PhantasiaLand is SOO GOOODD :D
I noticed this on Sunday. My 7yo loves rides, but the theaming on all the rides had him.bricking it in the que and made him tentative about going on them
Why it wont be removed : It cost millions. They won’t replace it for it The seek the truth logo may have been fake / someone trashing the site The cameras may be for a retheme LAST REASON I WILL BAWL MY EYES OUT AND CRY FOREVER
i live super close to towers and go all the time only last month a member of staff told me that its getting removed and tbh everything you said is true they dont care about it anymore as it breaks down at least 3 times a day so its defo going.
Heresy, you can’t really remove a b&m even a bit of a mild one like Air. Manta is a good flying coaster tho. But it would have to be something decent. Mack rides are everywhere at the moment. The new duelling coaster at Epic looks a monster when it opens.
for everyone saying that Galactica being removed would be a loss for UK flying coasters - my simple answer is just build one somewhere at Thorpe Park instead and make it a crazy layout more akin to something like Flying Dinosaur
@@Ellie-hr7cc yeah, I don't want to lose Galactica either but if we do have to then this would be a great opportunity for Thorpe Park to get one that's bigger and more extreme
I prefer galactica over the new nemesis ride and theme. Improving the ride and addition of AR, VR, scenery, lighting or special effects could refresh it. The sense of flying is great. On the new nemesis ride I could mainly see the back of the seat in front.
Galactica doesn’t need to go, not yet at least. Project Horizon or whatever the new attraction is will give the park a new coaster. The solution is to re-theme the ride to air, since its tranquil aesthetic would set it apart from other thrill rides in the park. Maybe they could fulfil Wardley’s vision and expand on the theming?
Could be but there just basically lazer measuring tapes they use them for loads of stuff like drainage and electrics and gas works but it could be to check out the size of the site for a new ride for sure
AT have been considering options of moving the main entrance to that area for a number of years so it could be further work to look in to that option. The good thing about moving the entrance is it would free up the current entrance area for a new coaster so the speculation can continue 🤔 However the next new major investment is known to be Project Horizon so I feel we may have to wait some time for for a Mack Stryker 😔

I don't like being thrown around all over the place, so it was perfect for me. I wish there were more rides like it. And it was the first flying coaster wasn't it?
i might actually cry if its galactica that was the first alton towers ride i went on and will forever be my favourite and tbh i think they should just keep all the rides and expand the park instead
Top vid, Dan. Love it!👌🏼
Thank you!!
Love ur vidsss! I love Galactica it was my first ever rollercoaster with inversions, I was SO scared to go on it I went on it and LOVED itttt!
The cameras could also be pedestrian counts as they did it in areas around my school and is shows where people walk and how many
Hey Dan! I met you on hyperia opening day and it is still my friend and my Lock Screen. Tysm
Was great to meet you!! Hope you had a good day! 😊
Galactica (It's still Air to me!) is my favourite coaster at Alton Towers. I really hope it isn't going.
I absolutely love galactica, favourite in the park. And I really hope galactica doesn’t get removed, i just think galactica needs a bit of a re theme or new paint job but i love galactica and it’s a experience like no other ❤❤❤😢
I'm going to Alton towers (for the first time) soon so Galactica is going to the top of the list in case these rumours about them removing it are true (it also looks like a really fun ride).
They probably aren’t as the ride costed millions!
@@THE_IconatorI mean most coasters if not all cost millions
@@Freddimatronic true I’m pretty sure galactic was 8.3million and is the only flying coaster
Make sure you go on the run away train....choo choo
@@THE_Iconatorall rides cost millions, not to mention its 22 years old
Before rita or spinball would be crazy
urgh Spinball is dreadful. as a 6"4" person its horrific. I have to fold myself threeways to fit in it.
Spinball just got a new computer system
Would you please excuse me for a moment whilst I cry into my pillows
This
Spinball is so uncomfortable. How can it hurt so much more than dragons fury at Chessington?
The statement about it by being well kept is true, it closes down do to maintenance issues quite often some days :( I hope they just refurbish and retheme the ride instead of getting rid of it, it may be old but it’s still iconic!
Air is my favourite, they can't replace it!
I don't reckon it'll be a 'new' coaster but I reckon they'll definitely be updating it in some sense as it really doesn't fit the theme of the area anymore
im hoping they give it the shockwave treatment and add new sitdown trains to make the worlds first fully upside down rollercoaster
Your videos are so awesome, how do you not even have 100k subs yet
Thanks so much!! 🙏🏻
Haha thank you for the confirmation 😂
Could be relocated but it won’t be demolished, it’s the first B&M flying coaster and unique to towers and the UK as a whole
I mean if a Mack stryker were to replace galactica I would love that tho
Love your channel btw....to add to the 'not a camera' bandwagon 🤪 the surveying equipment could just be to check heights of land or supports, for example to check the ground isn't subsiding or that support foundations haven't moved position over the years which could cause undue stress on the coaster...(London Underground have permanent little reflector targets in some tunnels for this purpose)
It's a great step-up coaster, and I know that because it was instrumental in helping me kick my phobia of rollercoasters. It would be very sad if it went. Let's hope for an overhaul.
Air is one of my favourites I love it!
Why do you hate Rita?
It would be a shame to see galactica go as it is very iconic however i would love to see a striker coaster but with the smiler i dont think they will do that. Maybe a family coaster a bit like drayton manor or a stand up coaster? Merlin seem to like uk firsts and only 😂
Alton Towers PLEASE KEEP THE SOUNDTRACK from galactica for maybe another ride or something it is phenomenal.
Keep up the great vids dan. ❤
Gotta love a digital Dan vid
They arn't cameras. They are called total stations and are used for Surveying.
Yes! They are called theodolites (generic) and total stations (brand name).
Whoops haha, at least I got their purpose right 😅😂
Yeah I was looking for this comment! I know some surveyors so I knew that :P
towers need another crowd cruncher. Having 2 in 1 area would be insane.
Yeah but as it’s in Forbidden Valley it might be the new ride because when I was speaking to a member of staff they were saying something is definitely happening in forbidden valley. Personally I thing it’s Ripsaw Returns. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL ❤
Probably a new scare maze
The German in me wants a Red Barron flying coaster. Manfred von Richthofen, 80 confirmed air combat victories, wedgier of Herman Georing and commander of Der Filegende Zirkue. His story deserves to be told in the most emersive of all media, roller coasters.
But honestly a WW1 fighter pilot themed ride, that goes over no man's land and ends with a giant drop (to signify the death of Der Rote Baron) that's simular to Oblivion (have it go through another hole), would be my favorite ride of all time.
Digital Dan is the goat
Hi dan when nemesis opened i met you i wore a krusty burger jumper and you were really lovely and its a tick off my bucket list ❤
Digging the Mario Kart 8 music lmaooo
I personally think a re-theme would be better as this was the first ever B&M flyer and it really was very popular when it first opened. If they added lots more theming, gave it new trains, a repaint and re-did the station, I think this could be a great fit in forbidden valley!
Dang if this is the case, then I'm so glad my boyfriend and I got to ride Galatica just last week.
If galactica gets removed i'm going to cry it's one of my favourites and i never want to see it go..
Great video Dan! i'm hoping for something like Voltron too!
Thank you! I hope so too!
I know this is not everyone’s favourite ride but this was my first big roller coaster and will always have a special place for me
2:41 how did it blur it on apple?
Yo Dan! Has voltron overtaken ride to happiness in ur number 1 spot. Ride to happiness is a beast especially that launch, but voltron looks so good
My view is it is either a new "dark future" theme with galactic-air or a future plan for a new coaster.
" The truth is out there"
If anyone is going to delve into the myths of amusement parks and sort the wheat from the chaff, it's you DigitalFox. I beleive🤣🖖😍
Lidar technology is also used for archaeology!
@@sadiporter2966 Imagine we get a an archaeology dig site and a an Egyptian retheme
I personally hope it stays for many more years 🙂
Rip galactic ill miss being on the ride as it finishes to roll past someone's vomit on the floor. Nice 👍
Having a flying rollercoaster is such a USP for Alton towers. Would be a big big mistake to get rid of such a classic and well loved ride :((, wish they’d refurb and refresh it like they did to nemesis.
i really hope that galactica doesn't get removed, its one of my favs and i would rather it was retracked or rethemed
My Realistic Timeline Of The New Coaster 👀:
2025-Last season of Galactica
2026: Demolition begins, groundwork and construction starts midway through the year
2027: Construction finishes in March, ride opens in June/July
Watch me be wrong in every way, shape and form 😆
I feel like Rita is less of an addition to the park than Galactica but they can do so much more with the area of Galactica. Rita just needs a retheme to match Thirteen I think.
Also the coaster I most hope to come to towers and replace it is a vekoma launched flying like F.L.Y. because that coaster at PhantasiaLand is SOO GOOODD :D
Goodbye (maybe) Galactica
You were a great coaster and the only one not themed to horror lol
I noticed this on Sunday. My 7yo loves rides, but the theaming on all the rides had him.bricking it in the que and made him tentative about going on them
A plopsa land ride to hapiness mack spinning coaster copy would be amazing .
Why it wont be removed :
It cost millions. They won’t replace it for it
The seek the truth logo may have been fake / someone trashing the site
The cameras may be for a retheme
LAST REASON
I WILL BAWL MY EYES OUT AND CRY FOREVER
I like the idea. SWX is on its way! But I will miss galactica...
Laser camera thing 😀. That will be a Theodolite. It's a surveying instrument.
You are actually so close to 80k already!!!
i live super close to towers and go all the time only last month a member of staff told me that its getting removed and tbh everything you said is true they dont care about it anymore as it breaks down at least 3 times a day so its defo going.
😮
Heresy, you can’t really remove a b&m even a bit of a mild one like Air. Manta is a good flying coaster tho. But it would have to be something decent. Mack rides are everywhere at the moment. The new duelling coaster at Epic looks a monster when it opens.
The uks only flying coaster and the world only has a few, it’s unlikely, maybe they will re-do it and theme it to the area. Definitely not going tho
we can only hope!!
for everyone saying that Galactica being removed would be a loss for UK flying coasters - my simple answer is just build one somewhere at Thorpe Park instead and make it a crazy layout more akin to something like Flying Dinosaur
Yesssssss
@@Ellie-hr7cc yeah, I don't want to lose Galactica either but if we do have to then this would be a great opportunity for Thorpe Park to get one that's bigger and more extreme
Yes I think it will be a grate opportunity for Thorpe park as that can build higher and could even fit more inversions in the ride
Don't think They'd go with a striker as to most people it's exactly the same as The Smiler with 4x4 trains and similar track
The good thing about moving the entrance is it would free up the current entrance area for a new coaster so the speculation can continue 🤔
However the next new major investment is known to be Project Horizon so I feel we may have to wait some time for for a Mack Stryker 😔
4:21 the solar smash part 😂
Apparently it’s being re themed to ‘’A.I.R command” , there’s Easter eggs around the park
Don’t come for Rita!
I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing it go, I find it painful to ride with my legs being closed in but I feel for the people who adore it!
