Growing Up Poor & Latino: Sustainable Edition

Growing up poor as Latino but sustainable! For many Latine communities growing up in the United States, many sustainable practices adopted by our parents are ingrained in our lifestyle.
The myth that Latin communities don't care about the environment is false and in fact, many BIPOC are sustainable inherently due to being pushed into poverty.
What are some of your favorite sustainable things you love to do growing up poor?

We would and still do reuse glass jars, plastic jars, cookie tins (sewing kit), bags (plastic and fabric) over and over until they broke. We also would go to church craft fairs and bazaars.

The church things is so true, I remember going a lot during the holidays for meals and gifts.
