Many thanks Trembling Beauty for bringing my music to the attention of UA-cam's algorithms! What you've done is invaluable! Please feel free to upload any of my other albums. Best wishes, Steve Hillman.
Steve! I may have uploaded the album and gotten lucky with the algorithms but thank YOU for making the amazing music in the first place! Happy to know you're alright with it being here. I'll definitely be putting up more of your music in the future :) Take care!
For the record I listen to this while making, organizing, repairing, etc. I was born in 82 and didn't have music like this to listen to then. But I'm definitely going to say that this is my best and most favorite jam pick of all time PERIOD!!!!!! I randomly found this about two weeks ago as well I can't express how thankful I am for this music. It absolutely blows everything out else I've listened to away.
Again many, thanks for uploading my music and for the many amazing comments, I truly appreciate and value them. They have helped make my journey worthwhile! For those who may be interested, a limited edition CD-R with the original artwork, full colour printing with photos taken at the time and remastered audio, is now officially available via my Steve Hillman Bandcamp page. Best wishes, Steve
Thank you for the comment & heads up on your new CD-R Steve! I just got a copy myself and can't wait for it to arrive. Hope you have been well and thanks again for making such amazing music!!
Have I just discovered the grandfather of Dungeon Synth?!? Although there are Berlin school vibes, the tracks Suntower and solace sound like they could have been made today by a dungeon synth musician. With everything going digital back in the eighties, I bet this sounds fresher today than it did back in 1986 when the analog synth sound went out of style. Cool 😎
I was born in 85 and grew up listening to dad play all these tapes. He had a K2000 so these sounds will always be a part of my life. Made me more creative if anything. Rock on dad. I miss you! And thanks for uploading a piece of history. Mainstream will never be this creative and original!

Music that's spellbinding, mysterious, bordering on mysticism, it's exceptional, we're very close to aural perfection! We're really in the "high-end" class musically speaking and I personally describe this genre as "music from the stars", I love it !!!
Not quite sure how this artist passed under my radar.... Thought I was an expert in the Berlin-esque genre. Obviously not. Fame rests on a roll of the dice...
I'm really pleased to see this cassette album here as Steve's digital re-release doesn't feature the excellent opening track so thanks for putting this up here. You've got another new subscriber, keep up the great work
Thank you :) I had purchased the re-release off his bandcamp to upload here and was surprised it's missing as well. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed!
Really nice! As a novice to the genre it's been maddening to deal with "fake old" or "fake vintage" music (i.e. music recorded recently but with cover art and a fictional story about the "artist" working in obscurity in the early 80s). I really dislike that kind of "satire." This is clearly the real-deal and I am grateful for its existence.
That's so true! Authenticity counts for a lot... _actual_ not manufactured authenticity LOL .....When I saw this recording was from the 80s I was all about it. Using tape saturation or lo-fi effects is one thing...but just copypasting a vintage style to garner interest is no bueno
@@j3ffn4v4rr0 Although I understand your point, I think it's also important to clarify what authenticity could really mean in this specific context: One thing is when this happens in a satirical tone (almost cynical), creating a whole fake backstory about a hypothetical artist/band who never existed (something that AI-generated albums tend to do a lot), and another thing is when real artists - who compose their own music (either with real instruments or with DAWs) - use past technological limitations as a source of aesthetic and sonic inspiration to produce a type of music that, although mirroring the atmosphere of that time, is done in a genuine way. There are certain emotions and sensations that can only be effectively expressed through specific aesthetics and styles - it's not a crime if an artist from the new generation wants to aim for the vibe and atmosphere of music styles from the '70s or '80s, as long as it comes from a genuine place.. It’s all about the artist's intention, in the end.
"Moondance" has some serious X-Files, seeing-an-alien-spaceship-land vibe! I would have instantly put that on the front a great spooky sci-fi TV during credits! Gorgeous stuff! (And does not at all put me in mind of Van Morrison, unless the van was parked by a lake on a moonlit night as the swamp monster emerges!)
Great stuff, thanks for these uploads, this reminds me a bit of Wooden Baby, the Merv Pepler project from around the same era, I think there are a couple of albums on YT.
Can someone put me out of my misery? The last 25 seconds of the first track sounds very familiar. Was it used in a film or TV show? Or... was it lifted by some else for use in another project? I feel like maybe I heard it in "Stranger Things."

It’s like a mad scientist let loose in a lab of wires, keyboards and blipping lights. Magic.

You should say, Ambient on Dad!
As a German who grew up with, and loves, Krautrock...i really like this right here. Never heard about it.

This is so mysterious, like being on another planet - Cheers!
This is awesome, thank you for this! I know it's another Tangerine Dream/Klaus Schulze Berlin school also ran, but I never get tired of them!
More precisly its similar to rudiger Lorenz. If you dont know listen now

What a gem!

This is truly fabulous!
Is this the album Peter Bauman didn't make before Transharmonic Nights? And i mean that as a huge compliment!
Love it ❤
This was a new experience for me. I only knew of some of his work but not the electronical. Great.
youtube algorithm for the win!
same. channel is amazing.
Phuk yea!
Truly amazing. A hidden gem.
Oh my, dungeon synth from the 80s!
This totally reminds me of '80s RPG video game music (in a good way).

I know what you mean. Vaporwave got spread all over many genres, to such extent that people actually lie about a given work only to have more views
I think that is an interesting take 👍

He has a pretty active Bandcamp! Too bad this isn't on there. I'd buy it.

Beautiful Work, Mixdown is great on this !
Tangerine Dreamish...
Very very good!!!! unexpected. Are other of his work like this? (Electronic)
Lots of Steve's other work is electronic music similar to this. If you liked this album I'd recommend checking out his bandcamp!

Was Vanguard Suntower Sunset sampled by the Orb?
Not that I'm aware of Chris 🙂
