these Remote Viewing tapes are so good...made me realise how over produced music is these days. i've never been fussy but it's so beautiful listening to so much human expression in these tunes compared to the ego-driven sounds of the current and previous generations. i'll take creativity and risks over production any day...
The level of production that goes into modern music would have been a lot more expensive and difficult to acheive back in the 80's especially for small label artists....... and I think that that may well have been a good thing. I make music myself and to be honest I find the production process a bit boring, but its hard to know when to stop as there is always one more tweak you can make in Abelton or whatever, and so much perfectionism. There is a LOT of ego in todays music its almost saturated in it, and so many of todays big artists have barely lived outside seemingly small bubbles and so don't have all that much to actually say. A lot of the tracks on these remote viewing tapes are more straightforward with fewer elements in them but the compositions just work well and can take you on an emotional journey without bucket loads of attitude.
Goddamn I love these enigmatic 80s tapes. So many icons of underground ambient (which I call "basement synth") - Mike Brooks, New 7th Music, Kevin O'Neill... what an awesome selection. Thanks for uploading this, you've earned a new subscriber !
I started playing guitar experimentally in the 70s and met and jammed with other early synthesistts and musicians and... Have been ecstatic ever since. Hearing 70s-80s electronic music soothes and takes me back in the best way . It has a certain Feel 🌛
Obviously this is from a cassette release in the 80s. Several dark Electronic pieces that were played on WXPN in the 80s are difficult to find. It's difficult to trace the artists names. A unique sounding album released in 1983 was NEPTUNE by CELLULOID which has been sought out by fans of Electronic Music for years. It's all Mellotron...however very experimental and has an Electronic vibe to it. The music was written and performed by Chuck Minuto. I had several chats with Chuck by phone and he wanted to have his music released in the digital age, but for whatever reason that didn't happen....although it's been bootlegged by people who transfer it onto cd from vinyl. Chuck Minuto is one of the most interesting characters to surface in the history of Electronic Music..
But I don't like some tracks which I can only call 80's New Age complete with stadium rock floor time but overall I'm positive and cassette tapes are great in fact my Album Underwater Love news a cassette tape free with the vinyl

just appreciate the music bro you don't gotta make broad and aimless judgements towards modern music to make this stuff seem better
Exactly!
MIKE BROOKS-Electronic Music Legend!
"Consider Phlebas" slaps... especially when the drums kick in!
It reminds me a lot of Jan Hammer's incidental music for Miami Vice.

I really like the Steve Hillman track "Star Temple" it has a feel reminiscent of Terry Riley which is a huge compliment
Nice moody stuff like Patrick Crowley! Lovely!
