  • The Mead Art Museum’s spring programming series begins a multiyear exploration of the theme of labor that is made possible thanks to the Terra Foundation for American Art. The goal of the initial presentations is to encourage interdisciplinary critical thinking about labor in the context of artistic production and discourse and museum work, focusing on the notions of visibility and value in artistic practice and advocacy work undertaken by artists.
    Tuesday, April 27, 4:30-6pm
New York University Professor of Anthropology and American Studies, Arlene Dávila, and New York-based artists Alicia Grullón and Shellyne Rodriguez will explore the theme of labor through a conversation about their cultural work. The speakers will examine intersecting themes of equity, race, ethnicity, and class, considering the role of art in exploring visibility and value of work and workers with particular attention to place, land, and the body.
