• Hélène de Montgeroult ...
A contemporary of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven Hélène de Montgeroult (1764-1836) was a French composer, pianist and teacher. Her music has been described as “the precursor of Romanticism” and her volume of 114 Studies has a remarkable variety of technical and musical ideas. Montgeroult was the first Professor of Piano when the Paris Conservatoire opened in 1795.

Wow, just stunning playing (lucky Helene)
Wow!!!
That is one extremely complicated looking piece of music 🎶
However, beautifully played 🎹
thank you kindly! this one is actually really fun to play!
Sounds very modern!
Thanks for sharing.
I also listen another pianist's record on Spotify. Their records is more romantic.
I think you pick very dry articulate to play this piece which I think is clean(and I prefer your articulate and speed in my opinion)
Not judge another record just appreciate you sharing this masterpiece.
thank you! I actually play it both ways, with pedal it sounds more like an impressionist piece that I also like, but I decided to record it with a more classical sounds which is also interesting. I agree, her music sounds very modern to me too!
Beautiful!
So fast ?? First time I hear like this ! There is no indication on the sheet ? Many pianist plays as he wants ..it is strange for me that .... Perhaps because there is still no consolidated tradition for this composer ? It is like a meteorite ! Anyway I do love Helene de Nervo de Montgeroult....it is never boring as music and sometimes it is really in advance on her time !!
it is true there is no tradition for these etudes yet, but it is what makes them particularly interesting to play. The tempo is Presto and marked at -69 per half note so this is what it is, but I also think it sounds great at a slower speed with pedal- very impressionistic sound. I can imagine them sounding many different ways, this is just one of them.
@@ShelestatthePiano yes sure why not ? Music, at the end, belongs a little bit also to the artist who plays or sings ecc..
