I LOVE that you give an update on the propagation with the exact amount of days. That is really helpful and you are literally one of the only gardening channels that does that. Thank you so much from your newest subscriber! :)
OOOOOOMG. This is SO funny!!! I ordered two Senecio Macroglossus on Etsy and just received them today along with a beautiful gift of string of hearts cuttings. So I looked them up to see how to care for them and stumbled across this video and I was like wait.... Your name is familiar...looked on my invoice, Yep, I got them from you!!! Lmao! I didn't know you had a UA-cam! How serendipitous and awesome. Thank you so much for the beautiful plants and great UA-cam vids!
Hahaha! That’s so funny 😂 I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed the extra surprise! This is one of my all time favorite plants for sure. And it grows so quick - In no time you’ll be able to make even more cuttings! Thank you again for ordering 🌿
Nick Pileggi It seriously made my day! Thank you so much! I am a member of some "plant enthusiast's" groups and will definitely share your Etsy shop and UA-cam with everyone! What soil do you recommend for the string of hearts??
Krystyna G. Thank you so much! 🌿 They aren’t picky with soil, I’ve grown them in plain potting mix just fine but I like to add some extra perlite to my my soil usually
I absolutely love this plant. So gorgeous in so many ways. I finally found and purchased one of these a few weeks ago. I wanted to grow it in memory of my grandparents, so I'm really happy I found it. Of course, I'm already looking to propagate this beauty 💕🍃💕 Thanks for sharing this video with us.
Hi Nick, I just wanted to say I watched this video months ago and today finally plucked up the courage to try my hand at propagation for the first time with my string of hearts. Thanks for all the great videos, they're so helpful for us clueless beginners!
Thank you I just got some cuttings from a plant shop and I wasn't sure how to propagate. The worker said to lay it across some potting soil, but that didn't seem right. Thanks Nick.
Thank you! I've just cut a few vines, I never know where to cut to propagate my houseplants. I really liked how clear and concise your explanations where, glad I found your video and your channel! 🌱
I just bought one today and I immediately knew I wanted to propagate it!! This video was super helpful and very motivating since you showed the exact time it took to grow roots!! It's sooo beautiful and it grows so fast!! I love it!!! Thank you for this amazing video :)
I clicked this video because your string of hearts looked the most beautiful!! Thanks for a great video. Have just done your exact method so fingers crossed in 4 weeks I hope they are good enough to pot! ☺
Very nice looking plant :) I just propagated my string of pearls today, it was about 4ft long. Going to have to get a string of hearts now :) And I must say, you are a very handsome guy ;)
Hi I’m just coming home from Florida and I found a Woodring in Sanibel island. I really enjoyed the video I’m going to have to check out your Etsy store for more plants in the future
Carmen Whitehead Hey Carmen...just started watching your videos...along with Nick's. I love the plant-loving community on you-tube. You guys do an awesome job!!
Nice video and informative as always!! The Canadian store I bought mine at are $39.00 at was Cactus en ligne if you are also Canadian. In a 4 inch pot. But their website don't do them justice. Far prettier and fuller then the picture. As are many of their plants. I got the Hoya Kerrii Variegated and it had 8 large 2.5 wide by 3.5 long leafs and fully round in a circle in a 6 inch pot with soil. They leave dry for weeks before sending and so there it is lighter. If you buy $75.00 worth of plants you get free shipping for as many plants as you order. I got my Jade bonsai,, and string of tears they sent me instead of string of pearls. So I requested what I ordered in the picture. So make sure you email them not to do the same to you and send you string of tears not pearls I also ordered , Hoya Kerri Variegated and not variegated, Philodendron Pink Princess, Diffenbachia Camille, ZZ Zamioculcas plants so far from them. I got mine in January and we have 4 seasons here. So they do ship in mid January. don't order Hoya in the cold weather though. January is too cold for them being so sensitive. I asked this time round for my plants not to be shipped until after it is warmer.
Hi Nick :) glad I just came across you via a google search. I'm new to indoor house plants (have become a bit addicted over this past fortnight, hahaa), and purchased myself a chain of hearts last weekend, in hopes of propagating them into candle pots that are within a wall hanging sconce. x - fingers crossed - x that they'll eventually grow in little glass votive pots? Thought it'd look really nice with them hanging down & along the wall. Anywho.. loved the straight forward and clear explanation in how to do this, thank you. All the best~ Andrea (from Adelaide, Australia :-p) Ps. will subscribe and keep an eye out on your videos.. as I have a lot to learn, being a newbie :")
Nice job!! I've always propagated by simple layering and separating the bulbous roots that form underground at each node. This is a nice alternative if you don't mind removing the growing tips from your "mother" plant. (They regrow fairly easily, anyway...)
Might be a silly question, but the original vine that you took the cutting from will continue to grow, right? Some of my vines are getting really long so I’m thinking about propagating soon, but I want to make sure before I cut!
I wish I would have found you a few weeks ago. I was looking everywhere to purchase this plant and couldn't find it, like at all.. the plants I did find, were so expensive and very very small. She's such a beauty your string of hearts💕 This plant reminds me of my grandparents so much! I have a few little cuttings I bought, but I would love a few more. Thanks for letting me know you sell this one. I'll be contacting you very soon on etsy. Do you happen to have the pepperomia prostrata turtle back? That's the other one I've been wanting.. I wanted to grow the hearts in memory of my grandma, and the turtle back in memory of my grandpa. I lost them both just a few months apart last yr and it really took a toll on us all. Thanks again for sharing💕
Hi Nick, I love your channel, thanks for creating such delightful videos. I am curious to see how are your propagated babies doing few months after they (String of Hearts, Pilea, etc) are re-potted. I have been successful in water propagation for those 2 plants, however they didn't survive after I moved them to soil. They tend to look like as if they dried-out. Appreciate to receive tips on how much/less water or lights babies need in comparison to the matured plant.
Thank you so much for uploading! Brief, concise, informative, and just perfectly helpful. Did you say how often to change the propagating water? I started propagating halfway through watching, and now I m not sure if that part eluded me, ha ha ha. Anyhow, thanks so much, I thoroughly appreciate the effort of your video creation!!!
I love the chain of heart plants. Can you tell me do you take cuttings off the ends only or can you use one long strand and make several cuttings out of it?
Hi there, thank you for your video! Have you ever left your string of hearts in water? I didn't know if they were similar to pothos in that they can survive there happily? Thanks again! L
Hello! Just watched your video! Very helpful, I’m cutting as we speak :) quick question tho???? The balls that appear on the vine? What are these and what should I do with them? Thank you x
Hey great video! I was just wondering if it works to propagate and then pot them back into the plant i got my cuttings from to make the pot more full??
Hi, is it possible to take the node and place back into the pot to make the Ceropegia Woodii fuller? Forgoing the water prop all together? Or water first? Ty :)
my wines are getting quite long and want to propagate them, if i cut at the node the original vine will that continue to grow or do i need to trim back to the node previous on the vine?
weird question but i bought one single string clipping of pink string of hearts, if i leave it alone will there be more strings or do i need to propagate more strings from my single string?
Should they be kept in a good amount of sun when growing the roots in water? Or can I keep them in the semi sun/semi shady spot I keep my plant in usually?
Yay!! Thanks for ordering! I have been watering these about once a week as they dry out about half way. I package them with a damp paper towel on the soil surface to keep it moist, so it will probably be ok on water for a few days after you receive it. Since these are grown from cuttings, I would let them acclimate to your home in their nursery pots for a week or so and to also allow them to continue to root without being disturbed 😊
What are your favorite “strings”? I have string of hearts, string of dolphins. I’ve seen string of pearls and string of nickels. What others are out there?
I LOVE that you give an update on the propagation with the exact amount of days. That is really helpful and you are literally one of the only gardening channels that does that. Thank you so much from your newest subscriber! :)

The strands themselves formed a heart 💜🤯
I seen that too 💕
I really like that you gave an update AND showed you putting these in soil. Thank you!

Great advice on rooting extras by curling the string around inside the pot after planting!
I just bought one today and I immediately knew I wanted to propagate it!! This video was super helpful and very motivating since you showed the exact time it took to grow roots!! It's sooo beautiful and it grows so fast!! I love it!!! Thank you for this amazing video :)

Thanks Nick for the useful tip on propagating! Looking forward for my cuttings to grow :)
Thanks So much for this!! Love how straight forward your video is! most of the propagation videos I found are full of so much unnecessary blabla. :D

I love String of Hearts, but I think I over-loved mine and it died. I'll definitely have to try it again in future!
This video is awesome, thank you! Creating babies for the third time with the help of this video ☺️
I love these plants and finally located another two (first one died...too much water I think). Now I know how to propagate them thanks to your video!
Nice Plant Nick!

It’s very helpful since my ceropegia woodi variegata is coming to me and will probably want to make it fuller 😍

Very nicely demonstrated! They look so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you!! Thanks for watching 🌿
You’re amazing ! T H A N K 💚 Y O U for all your videos !
Love your plants
I love the chain of heart plants. Can you tell me do you take cuttings off the ends only or can you use one long strand and make several cuttings out of it?
How do you get yours to grow so full? A lot of pictures I see online and they're really stringy looking.
Light
More single plants/strings per pot perhaps? That's what I'm planning to do with mine, and that's how you do it with vining philodendrons
Hi Nick! Thank you for this video, I have a string of hearts, but I think I water it a lot, so it started to die, I'll try to let it drier now!
I just bought one, I wanna make it more fuller, so do u propergate them then add them back into the original pot to make them fuller?
Can those cuttings be planted back in their mother plant’s pot?
Wow, thank you for sharing
Hi Nick, great video thanks, could u quickly advise the type of soil for propagation in soli again? Just wanna be sure
My grandpa has this one is his living room. I'll definitely butcher it next time.
This is so helpful, thank you!
Estava pesquisando sobre esta planta e nunca vi nenhuma assim tão linda!Parabéns
No se lo que dice, pero me gusta... 😊
Would you put cuttings directly into the soil? Or is water first recommended?
Wow I almost didn’t realize this was you!
Uff i love my string of hearts! Definitely want to have a whole curtain of them lol
Hi there, thank you for your video! Have you ever left your string of hearts in water? I didn't know if they were similar to pothos in that they can survive there happily?
Thanks again!
L
Fab video thank you 🌱💗
Great video. Thank you! Would it be the same method for Dischidia Ruscifolia? I can’t seem to find any videos on propagating that plant.
Thankyou for the video😊🌱 i'm gonna try to take some cuttings of my string of hearts
So helpful, thank you! 🌱💓
Hello! Just watched your video! Very helpful, I’m cutting as we speak :) quick question tho???? The balls that appear on the vine? What are these and what should I do with them? Thank you x
Beautiful ❤🌿
I have a VSOH I got for free. Hoping it’ll be okay to pot soon
Ty :)
Could I take my cuttings, skip rooting them in water, and just plop them right into soil to root?
Beautiful plant!
Thanks, Ray!
So I have two cuttings about two months now.. They are growing normally but no roots have emerged yet.. Any tips?
Will the cut vines from the mother plant continue to grow longer, or no?
my wines are getting quite long and want to propagate them, if i cut at the node the original vine will that continue to grow or do i need to trim back to the node previous on the vine?
came here for the plant tips staying because we need to date???
Once I get roots on the cutting can I put it back inside the same pot it came from to make it fuller? Or does it need fresh new soil?
Hi Nick, when you move them to soil, do you water the soil a little bit or should I wait a few days maybe?
Love your videos btw! Also, what soil mix do you use for your string of hearts?
weird question but i bought one single string clipping of pink string of hearts, if i leave it alone will there be more strings or do i need to propagate more strings from my single string?
Could I propagate back into my baby plant as I only have like 2 strings lol would love it to be thick!
Thank you so much Nick! Are there any specific months that you can propagate them in? Is it okay if I go ahead and do it now?
Should they be kept in a good amount of sun when growing the roots in water? Or can I keep them in the semi sun/semi shady spot I keep my plant in usually?
How any times did you change the water during those four weeks please?
Looking forward to receiving mine at my door! Will it need water ASAP? (I’m in Arizona) or should it acclimate to its new home first? Thx Nick!
Yay!! Thanks for ordering! I have been watering these about once a week as they dry out about half way.
