you are going to have so much fun !there are so many things to crochet , curtians to blankets clothes to bags. and all the wonderful colors . this lesson was great .
Great tutorial! Just made this - look me about an hour! It's the 1st thing that I've crocheted that isn't a granny square!! Thanks and I can't wait for more like this
Thank you for this tutorial. It was so easy to follow. I am new to crochet and have taught myself through your tutorials and have now made two beanies and the infinity scarf!
Lovely hard to imagine WHY anyone would give the thumbs down! I hope to see more baby items during these next 7-8 months🍼 You're going to be an amazing mother 💜😇👍
Thank you so much for this tutorial. A gorgeous little project. I shall be making lots of these for the maternity department of our local hospital, where my daughter-in-law works. ❤️
Hi I loved this simple pattern. It's winter here and doing these for charity for the new babes.Thank you. It's quick and easy so can make a lot in a short space of time. Love from South Africa.
Another great tutorial. What is not to like. Very well explained and easy to follow which helps those of us that are not as experienced. I have learned so much. Thank you.
I used this with a sage green thick yarn then mad so circles added safety eyes to the circles then crocheted the circles to the beanie and now I have a frog beanie!! ❤
Thank you for this video. It was so easy to follow Stephanie by step. I have been wanting to learn for years. This is super simple to follow and mine turned out the first try. I can not stop making these cute hats!!
This is a great pattern, I have been making and donating baby hats to local hospitals, this pattern is a wonderful addition, thanks! Btw, I see lots of baby hats in your future, lol.
I have started to learn to crochet via your channel and have managed to make this first time!! So happy with my creation :) I had to use the magic ring (which I learned via your videos too!) to get it started as chaining was just too small for me to manage - thank you so much for your videos!!
I learned how to make granny squares from you. And then I wanted to learn how to make preemie beanie, but couldn’t find one that you instructed. So I tried a couple other tutorials and had a terrible time. I spent hours trying to understand. I then decided to do your tutorial on the newborn. It was so easy and fun to do, just like the granny square. I will be using your tutorials from now on Thank you.
I just loved this tutorial. So easy!!! This was my very first attempt at making a beanie, and thanks to you and your wonderful gift of teaching, it turned out amazing. Thank you again!!! Your daughter is so blessed to have you for a mom.
Love your Tutorials. Have learnt to crochet because of them. Have made 3 different baby blankets, baby beanies and booties. Thankyou so much. Cheers Ellen 👍👌😀
thank you so much you explained it so clearly i understood it made my first beanie had watched other videos but couldn't follow them i just started to crochet now i can make lots of this hats for my local hospital thank you
Thanks Sarah. I used 'baby' yarn, thinking that was a good plan... my final project ended up good for perhaps a premature baby or doll beanie, but at least I learned the process! :D
Just found this video (and your channel) and would like to say a huge thank you. Made a beautiful little beanie for my niece who’s due in July xx You make it really easy to follow your pattern and instruction.
hi I love this hat pattern I was wondering if you could advise me of the calculations for the hat size because I am wanting to make it in all different sizes for my local hospital ( from premature to new born ) thank you for your tutorial's I love them
This hat was so easy to make! Wonderful tutorial. p.s I know this was posted around a year and a half ago, but would you happen to remember what nail polish brand and color you are wearing?? It’s mesmerizing 😍
I love your video. Very easy to follow. Can you explain how to adapt for a toddler or young child? Also do you have a video for making a baby sweater. Thank you
Could you explain to me why my hat may be coming up a bit small when I make it, could it be the tension I have when making it or the wool thickness. Thanks ( I love your Videos, it’s how I learnt to crochet.)
Thank you, I’m glad you like it 😊 The simplest way to work a bigger hat is to use a bigger hook and thicker yarn; you can even hold two strands of yarn together.
Hi, this video is brilliant. My crochet group is going to make them in orange to donate to baby wards for vulnerable babies for the Orange Hat Appeal. Before I write out the instructions, is there a written pattern to go with the video? I looked on the website, but couldn't find it. Thank you so much, Romy
I just love you tutorials, your so clever, i am virtually taught by you, with help from my friend, could you please do a baby matinee coat, a simple one so i can have a go thank you so much x
love this tutorial so easy to follow. would love if you could tell us how to do different sizes tho as I have an 18 month old. keep the baby videos coming :)
Hi Sarah I love this tutorial I have made so many of these hats since u put this up as all the other videos I've watched I just couldn't get the hang of it. Actually I watch all your videos it's how I've learnt so much, but I was wondering if u have a pattern for this hat in different sizes?
Hello Sarah hope your well, advise on pregnancy try not to lift heavy things and get plenty of rest. And I was wondering how many bundle packs do I need for a throw size blankets. Xx
Thanks for this tutorial. Easy to follow for a beginner like me but mine turn out to be too small, more for a soft toy 😅 How do I make sure it’s the right size for my next beanie?
You’re welcome 😊 You should find that your beanie measures six inches in diameter and five inches from crown to brim; you’ll need to adjust your hook size to a bigger hook if it’s working up too small 😊
Hi all, I'm very new to crochet and have such a hard time following written out patterns- how would you size this up for an 18-24 month old? If anyone could help me out, that would be lovely! This tutorial was so easy to follow but definitely not big enough for my nephew's head, lol.
Love your videos & I'm enjoying learning to crochet using them. I've done about 40+ of the granny squares ready to join together for a pram blanket as our daughter is expecting her first baby (a week or so behind you). I thought I'd try the newborn beanie hat and I'm sad to say I'm really struggling with round 4. The first time I ended up with 44 stitches, tore back then got 41, then 39. I've tore back again and have got the 36 stitches ready to start round 4 again, where I should end up with 38 at the end. I think my problem is deciding whether I'm going into a stitch or not. Any advice? Thank you for your videos.
Really love your tutorials, and this again was really easy to follow, but I have tried it twice today and still can't seem to get the size you do, both of mine have ended up small.
Could I ask what to do with the tail from the magic circle at the start? I have a little tail inside the hat and I'm not sure whether I cut it off or stitch it in
You should make your chain 2, work one double crochet (US terms) at the base, and then work one double crochet in each stitch around (38 stitches total). The written instructions are available on my blog here: blog.bellacococrochet.com/baby-beanie/ 😊
When you say the chain 2 doesn't count as a stitch are you slip stitching into the first treble next to the chain 2 when you are finished with the round instead of the chain 2?
If I were wanting to make like a beanie a little bigger for say 6-9 months 9-12 how would I make it bigger? Also do you have any other baby beanie videos? With pom pom or rim?
Can you please do baby cardigan? I found this tutorial very helpful and easy to follow, and I would like a easy to follow cardigan tutorial too! Very helpful video!
Hi, I cant seem to get the width right. The first attempt was only 5 inches across. Second attempt was 5.5...That was thicker (not very nice for newborn wool) what do i do. (I will say i am a TOTAL novice when it comes to crochetting) Thanks in advance
Just wondering, I've crocheted this on a 4mm hook, and have done 8 rows, but am still 2 inches short, any advice on if I need to add more stitches? Thanks
Thank you, I’m glad you like it 😊 The simplest way to make this smaller would be to use thinner yarn and/or a smaller hook, that way you don’t have to alter the pattern.
I don't have a tutorial however the size of this hat can be adjusted by going up or down a hook size, dependant on what size you need so it would be the same tutorial just a different hook size :)
you are going to have so much fun !there are so many things to crochet , curtians to blankets clothes to bags. and all the wonderful colors . this lesson was great .
iv been watching and crocheing for several months now i love it so much your videos are amazing thankyou xx

Love this! They are quick, easy, turn out beautiful & fit a newborn perfectly! Nice and snug but not too tight! Really pretty design 🥰
Thank you :)

Amazing! I bet your friends will love them x

Thanks Sarah. I used 'baby' yarn, thinking that was a good plan... my final project ended up good for perhaps a premature baby or doll beanie, but at least I learned the process! :D
Mary Brennan me too!
Didn’t she use baby yarn also? What’s the difference between baby and regular yarn? Thx
I have also ended up making a premature baby hat 😂 never mind! Will try again with a bigger hook!

Thank you :)
What does HDC mean?

Love this pattern but I've been asked to make a hat for a 10 pound newborn so wondering how to upsize it. Many thanks ❤
Thank you, I’m glad you like it 😊 The simplest way to work a bigger hat is to use a bigger hook and thicker yarn; you can even hold two strands of yarn together.
Please do more baby crochet 😍
Lovely hat and easy to follow tutorial. It turned out too small. How do I make the same hat, slightly bigger please? X

How would you suggest increasing the size for older babies?
Btw I really like how you did that last round, it does indeed look very nice and neat!
The simplest way to increase the size is to use thicker yarn and a bigger hook :-) You could even hold two strands double.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!

Could I ask what to do with the tail from the magic circle at the start? I have a little tail inside the hat and I'm not sure whether I cut it off or stitch it in
You should sew it in - simply sew around the magic circle inside the hat a few times until it's secure and then snip off the end 😊
Rows 5-8 are you doing a two double crochets in the first stitch after each chain 2? X
You should make your chain 2, work one double crochet (US terms) at the base, and then work one double crochet in each stitch around (38 stitches total). The written instructions are available on my blog here: blog.bellacococrochet.com/baby-beanie/ 😊
@@bellacococrochet oooo thank you lovely. Will go take a look xx

Fabulous made one
I'm a beginner. Does a newborn hat have to measure exactly right?
Hi Bella Coco I've got 1 50g of dble knit merino wool. Will be enough
yes. i will try this one. :) can u pls tell me what is d age gap we can use this hat?can 6months baby wear this?
It really depends on the size you crochet :)
Beautiful hat, what is the yarn , 3 ply or 4 ply
Everytime i make one of these hats by the time i get to row 8 its only 3 +3/4 inches and having to add several rows to make it 5 inches.
Me too. I started using a hook one full size more than recommended on the yarn i am using. That helped
Cheers Bella 🙏
You're welcome :)
You are so Good at doing Videos. Im new, never did a hat. This is super easy and such a great job you do. Thank you. Susan M j

yyyaaaaayyyaa once again congo sarah
Just wondering, I've crocheted this on a 4mm hook, and have done 8 rows, but am still 2 inches short, any advice on if I need to add more stitches? Thanks
If you've used a 4mm hook and it's turned out too small, you should try going up a hook size or two as this will make it bigger 😊
@@bellacococrochet thank you!😁
Has anyone made this with aran? What size hook did you use for newborn? Tia x
This is ace. My friend's baby is 10 weeks premature. How would I make this hat slightly smaller? (Total beginner)
Thank you, I’m glad you like it 😊 The simplest way to make this smaller would be to use thinner yarn and/or a smaller hook, that way you don’t have to alter the pattern.
