I love the hat pattern so much❤️ My son is 3 weeks old and in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant right now. Hats are the only thing he can wear and I love that I was able to make him a hat following this pattern 🥰
Finished this after work! I am giving it to a co-worker who is due in a few weeks! I am a beginner and so happy to have found this tutorial- thank you!
Made over a hundred washcloths and was looking for a new project--my grandson is a physical therapist and said a lady was looking for help in making newborn hats. Thanks for the easy pattern and directions. I am so excited to start this new project especially during this "stay at home" period in our lives.
I just made this beautiful little hat for husband's cousin's newborn baby and it looks amazing...and it took me about 20 minutes!!...I love this pattern.
Thank you very much! I quickly made one in white and gave it a mint green trim. I didn't use your end rows with front post but turned the hat inside out and made spiral rows of sc. It gives a very pretty kind of ribbing. I used the left over string of green to make the teeniest pompom. So cute. Great pattern !
Just found your tutorial and I love it. Thank you so much for your instruction. I am planning to make my hat this weekend, hopefully I will be able to make many for the hospital newborns.
I cannot believe I finished this baby beanie...without your tutorial it would not be possible!! Thank you so much, you explained it perfectly and made it easy to follow step by step...I am a beginner...and you are right, there are not much baby stuff and especially for boys!! Watching your channel has given me so much confidence in myself...The beanie is just so darn cute and beautiful!! Thank you so much and I will be looking forward to making the mitts..I also tried to make a baby jacket and had to unravel it because the video I had watched by someone else made it so hard and was not explained proper...I will be doing a lot more with you.
Just finish Making my first newborn baby hat. Was so easy to follow your instruction. Thank u for taking your time showing us Step by step . You really are a great instruction. Thank u
I have made this beautiful little hat for both a boy and a girl and I love the way it turned out for both, very easy to make. Thank you for the pattern ❤️
i enjoyed the video and watched it several times as I am a beginner. Happily I was able to make my first crocheted baby hat. I intend to make them to donate. Thanks for getting me started.
Just finished this... now going to alter it a teeny bit with some trim! Thank you for making this tutorial clear and easy for a beginner. Perfect gift!
Love the look of this little hat, I am certainly going to make some of these, change the colours for boys or girls, thank you so much for sharing your video
1st row: 1 double crochet all around 11 times 2nd: 2 double crochet all around 3rd 2 double crochet, then 1 double crochet, then 2.. 4th: 2 double crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 double crochet.. 2112 5th: 1 double crochet then keep going till u have the length u want
Thank you for the free pattern. I made a couple of them for the Shaken Baby Project. I actually made 10 hats for the Project but only 2 by this pattern. Works up quickly and easily. The ones having trouble with row 9 could benefit by watching your tutorial.
Diane O'Conner - hi, i am following the video. I have 44 stitches as i end row 8. This gives me 45 'posts' when i include the Ch2. Is this what you have as well? With the '45 posts', i dont end up with the last fpdc on the stitch right before the sl st. Thanks for the help.
Janeius - I'm sorry that I can't answer your question. I made the hats over a month ago and I just don't remember how I did it. I just followed the video and it turned out really well.
I started today on making hats by the Parker pattern and I love it. It is very quick and easy. I heard doing them in purple for hospitals to give to mothers to help remind them not to shake babies.
Lindagee918 Creative Grandma has the #5000 Purple hats video on her channel. Several of us are working to help out...great cause! This hat would be perfect....
I hadn't crocheted since I was a tween, but being stuck at home I got the urge to relearn. I started with a quick potholder to get some practice and then I was able to just jump right into this. Amazing tutorial and so easy to follow!
Very cute hat! I'm a knitter and recently started making hats for hospital donations but the knitted hats take a lot longer to knit. I can crochet them much faster, thanks for your tutorial. Please add the stitch counts at the ends of the rounds to make it more clear.
Great and easy video!!! I want to make these to donate for newborns. I already new the basics of crochet but you made this just so simple and easy... thank you!! And it's so cute too.
Thanks for your time, I got to make a pretty little hat, however, the written pattern differs slightly from the video instructions, I also find that the zoom could be better to follow along by just watching. Overall I really like your way to explain, so thanks again!
Love all your videos! Your instructions are clear, precise and easy to follow! I’ve made many Parker hats for both boys and girls and even made many of the Halloween ones!! However, I can No longer find the Halloween pattern anywhere! Can you help me find it?
Thanks for the tutorial! I am Australian, and have trouble converting your stitches to mine when reading a pattern (for example your double crochet is my treble), but it is much easier for me to watch you do it first, then follow. Thanks :)
I love the detail at the end. I’ll be making this for sure. Thank you for showing a better way to weave in ends. I’m a beginner and you make every stitcth understandable.
Your instruction is very helpful. If your hook and yarn were closer to camera it would be easier to see. I like your pattern for this baby hat. Nice and easy.
I have had the worst time making.....errr...attempting to make baby hats, I get lost somewhere and they end up fitting ME! I am trying this tonight.....you make it look so easy...thank you! Anything else for beginners for babies would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks .. our office made little red hats for February Heart Month .... and I noticed that they were all girly hats ! So, I made several Parker hats for those sweet little boy babies ! I appreciated your easy pattern
We are doing the Little Hats, Big Hearts at my office too. I have already made a couple with the patterns they had on their site, but love this one and want to do some of these. I am curious if you made any adjustments to make smaller ones for preemies?
im a crocheter and im not the best but still having a bit of trouble thank you for making it easier for me. impart of an organization that are making the hats for babies in the hospital.
On that front post it took me 3 tries. I had like 74 stitches. Yikes. Kept frogging it. But I finally did it with the 44 stitches. It came out great. I’m proud of myself I didn’t quit n kept trying. Thank you.
So as a real beginner, I did fine until the border where I was trying to do the front post crochet..i ended up with more of a bonnet look as I evidently crocheted below the stitch before creating a a bigger rim😜still looks cute!
I should have counted stitches, as I ended up with a nice hat for a teddy bear! LOL Now I will follow along with the written pattern as well as the video. I really like the way the seam up the hat looks, very pretty. Thanks.
I hope you answer quickly as I need the answer so I can mail the package. The blanket (one big granny square with a shell stitch border) and slippers for new borns are done in Bernat #5 chunky and really it is chenille just the slightest bit thicker than a #4 worsted. I need to know if I have to change my hook size as I want this for a newborn girl due Mar.5th. Thank you so much. Carolyn Dennis
I just finished mine! Some how it's not as tiny or condensed as yours. Gonna make another one, guess baby can wear this one when her head is bigger lol
This is the perfect video. What size hook would I use to make a bigger size for the hat, booties and the diaper cover. I have triplets in the family and would love to make them a couple of sets. Thanks
Thank you very much sewell for your tutorial you are very awesome you explain every step clearly and understandable you are a great teacher a thousand thanks to you😊, thanks to you now I an make baby hat.
I’m making this hat right now and needed to learn the FpDC. As a beginner I have to say this is a great hat for my first attempt. I DO have A QUESTION tho… in pattern you say “DC in first”, is that actually IN THE SAME STITCH as the chain 2 or next after that? Also, row 8, “DC in first”. Am I counting my chain 2 as that?! Or actually creating DC in chain 2 spot ?!?
I love the hat pattern so much❤️ My son is 3 weeks old and in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant right now. Hats are the only thing he can wear and I love that I was able to make him a hat following this pattern 🥰
I will be keeping you and your baby in my prayers.
Is he okay now? (Considering the fact that you posted this 11 months ago) ;(
❤️
Hope his transplant went well and he's healthy and you are still making him hats.
I like the chrochet instructions it is that we don't know the size of the needle
This makes me so happy. When my oldest daughter was born, someone donated lots of hats to the hospital just like this one.
Thank you very much! I quickly made one in white and gave it a mint green trim. I didn't use your end rows with front post but turned the hat inside out and made spiral rows of sc. Just found your tutorial and I love it. Thank you so much for your instruction. I am planning to make my hat this weekend, hopefully I will be able to make many for the hospital newborns.

May I know how did you alter it? Bcz mine came big and I used 4.5 hook..
I made this tonight. Easy to follow instructions, fab video. I absolutely love what I’ve made. Thank you Sewrella.
I am new to crocheting. I am not sure what I did wrong but I ended up with more of a ruffled edge. Cute for girls but not for boys. Thank you
How's crochet going for you now ? Have you found other infant beanie patterns to your liking since then?
Love the look of this little hat, I am certainly going to make some of these, change the colours for boys or girls, thank you so much for sharing your video
1st row: 1 double crochet all around 11 times
2nd: 2 double crochet all around

Thank for this easy-to-follow tutorial! I’ve been looking to make a couple of these for my little one on the way ☺️
I haven't seen that method of changing colors. Will definitely try that now.
Great tutorial! If anyone is wondering what happens when you accidentally do the FPDC and DC in the same stitch, you end up with a little sun hat.
