Hey Matt, you might want to let Ron know his car still have the yellow front spring spacers on. It's very easy to remove: jack up the car until the spring is all the way extended, and then pull off the block. Also, a slight correction: The rear diffuser is actually taken from the GT500. The one on the GT350 has a different design (thought they may look alike).
Thank you for bring up the spacers. They were indeed still there! I removed them and now car rides about the same but looks much better. I wonder how long they would have been there is it weren't for Matt reviewing my car. Thanks again! Ron
@@ronlara1695 Don't mention it! I have a Mach 1 too and I found out about the spacers days later after I got the car as well. I've been watching Matt's videos for years now, and as soon as I saw in my feed that he reviewed a Mach 1 I HAD to watch it lol.
Looks like it, if you look back at some panning shots of the front tire in your footage should see some yellow blocks on the coils. Looked like it to me. I just bought a mach 1 myself and the dealer left them on there I noticed just before I took it off the lot. I could be mistaken but I'm seeing the telltale signs. I see the yellow you're talking about there, that's interesting, I figured it would drive like crap with those affecting the springs, but the suspension felt just like my Bullitt to me.
Hey Matt you drove exactly my car lol I have exactly the same spec Mach 1 (same wheels same interior and ofc the glorious Tremec) This is my very first S550 and I absolutely love this thing. Rides super comfortable, handles like it’s on rails thanks to the GT350 suspension. Stays nice and cool thanks to all the coolers that come standard. I also was able to buy mine under MSRP thanks to the new 24s hitting the dealers. I must say also that the Tremec Transmission is a FREE option in the Mach 1 you pay an extra $1,500 for the 10 speed. Glad you liked the Mach 1. Awesome review as usual 🔥
If you don't mind me asking what mustangs have you owned? I'm currently on the fence between a 2014 gt500 or this mach 1. What do you think would be the better buy?
@@rajveersohal1080 mine have all been GT’s. 2 S195’s, 1 new edge, 1 S197, and a S550. Now my Mach 1. All manual transmissions. It all depends on what you want. The 13-14 GT500’s have the 662 hp engine, solid rear axle. Completely different driving experience from the S550 independent rear suspension. Handling is better on the S550’s but more power with the GT500. I would personally choose the Mach 1 over the 14 GT500 for better handing and more up to date tech. But just my opinion. They’re both good choices.
Without the track pack, the Mach 1 doesn't look quite complete to me, in which case I definitely prefer the Bullitt, hands down. But the Mach 1 with the track pack looks sick.
Under $60K for a special car like this is an insane deal. If it had the $ for a second weekend car this would def be on my short list. I do like the dark horse, but this would be so awesome to own.
I’m guessing this Mach-1 didn’t sell too well. In my area there are 2 a 2022 for under 42k (33miles) and 2023 (6miles) for under 54k both new with no previous owners. They’re the reason I’m here reviewing it to see if that 2022 would be a bargain.

I came for the tremec review and Matt did not disappoint! I was not a huge fan of my MT82. It was OK. 6g forums had several posts of guys doing swaps. Can’t be a cheap process though.
I daily drive the ecoboost and I really dislike the MT-82. They fixed the reliability issues that plagued the S197, but the feel is still kind of crap. Very notchy, not very confidence inspiring. I don't get lock-outs, but the feel as it goes in certain gears at certain RPMs isn't enjoyable, not smooth enough. And the ecoboost is a fine motor, but it's not fantastic, especially at the upper rev, and it sounds like shit. I'm not a fan of the 350/R either, because while the voodoo sounds amazing, the reliability is hot garbage, and it lacks power down low for daily driving. So while it may be more fun in the canyons, I prefer the regular 5.0 coyote for practical driving. So this kind of hits the sweet spot: mag ride + coyote + a solid feeling transmission. I think it's peak S550. I'm considering trading my ecoboost for a used GT, and if I'm going to shell out some additional money, there's an argument to be made about spending a bit more and getting this. It's a pretty awesome car by any definition. But IDK, not sure I want to spend 50k on a daily driver, and also, this is something that wouldn't ever see the inside of a garage for me. It's a good investment provided you keep it in investment shape, but I keep mine on the curb. So yea, IDK, but sounds like if I do want to do this I don't have much time left. The S650 to me is pretty "bleh", and I'm sure the dark horse will be above MSRP for a bit until the market settles down. Definitely a good prospect. How is it on the highway? Sounds kind of loud for 'normal' mode. Any drone? If there's one thing I love about my ecoboost is that it's a perfect road trip car.
A longtime IMBOC member and having now owned 3 Bullitts (2-2008s and 1-2019), I'm looking to move forward from my current 2008. Problem is I constantly get comments and compliments on the dark highland green paint and I enjoy that attention. Not a week goes by when someone doesn't walk up to me and whisper in a reverential tone, "Is that a Bullitt?" That's just neat and kind of hard to give up. So I've been shopping 2019/20 Bullitts again, as well as Mach 1s. The trans in the latter is what draws me to it. And now I'm on the fence which to get. Sadly, I've found that S550 Bullitts are generally over-priced (in a used car market which is supposedly collapsing) whereas used/low mileage Mach 1s are coming down in price and are now pretty competitive w/Bullitt pricing. But so many Mach 1s are autos, not manuals! How disappointing and disconcerting. Manuals are almost as rare as hens' teeth. First world problems, right?
Thanks for the review, Matt. The big question I have... would you choose the Mach 1 over a Bullitt? I don't have the nostalgia card that strong for the Bullitt, although Highland Green is beautiful. The long gears in the 18+ MT82 is a bit of a letdown.
I totally agree with Matt on his response here. I had a 2020 Bullitt and sold it to purchase one of the last 2023 Mach 1s. Mine is also a non handling pack with every option in Oxford White. I like the more aggressive look but most of all, that Tremec 6 speed is worth the upgrade by itself. I would still have my Bullitt if it had the Tremec.
I'm curious. What kind of fuel economy do you get with typical driving? I get better than the sticker all the time and so I think the ratings are not that accurate. I don't miss a power seat or a heated seat or ventilated seat, I have the Recaro's and like them. I think they ought to get give you a rebate on the removal of the power seats/heated/ventilated parts, though! I was also curious: do you notice seatbelt rub on you neck, especially on longer drives? I also feel the gas pedal could be a bit more forward. I always feel like my knee is bent too much. Thoughts?
Shifter envy lol.. The trimec trans are really affordable used from a totaled out mustang or Shelby .. If I remember right Ive seen low sub 30k mi transmissions go for 2,500 if I had a mt82 gt the first mod would be a trimec transmission. I do believe it is all plug and play, same mounting and ECT.. Only reason I even test drove the Shelby was bc the mt82 was replaced and there was a outstanding trimec unit .. I was already settled on a new stingray and drove the gt350 while I still had the cash just bc I could and I was curious about it .. Had no intention of buying one . Wow , the Shelby won me over right off the bat .. engine sound power and a great shifter!! I got the gt350 after 2 years of calling every dealer to find my color and spec being sold at MSRP.. All dealers were 5 , 10 ,15 and 20k over MSRP. Most were even rude telling me they don't care if I won't buy it bc of the markup bc someone would .. They were right but they acted like they had every buyer by the balls.. I finally worked a deal with a Ford dealer 2 hours away and got the total final otd price b4 I went down.. They kept their word but they were basically thinking they would make the money back on financing and warrenty ad ons .. They were wonderful untill I pulled out a certified check for the full amount of the car.. They were so angry about it they weren't even trying to hide their attitude .. Then I got put into the finance room and both the sales manager and add ons guy tried to bully me into thousands of dollars of extra stuff.. I held firm though and they took the check and I took the car.. It wasn't even my plan to pay with the cashier's check, I just got it In case they tried to ream me for financing .. I had a 810 credit score and planned to finance it .. However they came at me with 7 percent!!! I said no way , no deal.. They said it was the best they could do so I pulled out the check and paid all cash .. They even asked me if they could do better on financing would I finance instead . I said yes .. They asked what rate was acceptable to me and I just said the best you can get .. I was thinking 1.9 or below and it would be pretty fair . They came back with 2.9 after saying 7 was all they could do and I passed on it .. Wasn't trying to negotiate, I just wanted my car and wanted to go home .. So they gave up the tactics and took the check even though they were literally showing their distain for me the whole rest of the time .. Swap in a trimec !!
There is a 'pre-owned' Dark Horse for sale nearby in Arkansas for sale...$84k. Just crazy for a Mustang regardless of how much it may be improved over the S550 variants. Sadly, or not, I'll be hanging onto my '20 GT (301A, Magnaride, Active Exhaust, PP1) for a while. My car listed for a little over $50k and I drove out for $37k. New car prices are killing any hope of enthusiasts getting into new cars at a realistic price point.
What's ironic is a lot of these cars at this point are some type of refresh of an older model/gen, yet they're priced significantly higher as if it's a totally different league of car. The Mustang S650 even has the same engines and transmissions and mostly the same exterior design, but then they price it 50 percent higher than the S550 as if there was some type of substantial Research and Development costs associated with it. It's just price gouging, and Stellantis, GM, and Ford are by far the worst at it.
@@boomshakalaka8054He's leaving out trade equity/money down/etc. in that number. That is not what he paid. People do that when describing a car deal all the time, unfortunately.
It is not necessary to swap the whole transmission if we are just talking about better shifts. A solid mount short shifter (like the MGW shifter, for example) would be more than good to provide satisfying shifts.
My thoughts exactly left over Mach ones or even few year old ones is gonn a be the deal , s550 401 dash is best dog dash , 650 dash is dog 💩, that’s a deal breaker for me , no bezels, no though just modern Kia I vape everyday day thoughts 🤷♂️, s650 track pack didn’t even give us the tremec, gave a few horsepower and twin throttle bodies going into the same I take not even separate left and right banks , I’ll stick to my rapid red 10r80 tech package car that I payed Pennie’s for two years ago compared to the junk 650 , and Matt for me I’ll stick with my t10sp is awesome especially when u driv the car more , it knows me and learns how I drive in each mode , mt82 prevented me from getting a stick in gt , and leave it to ford to keep it in the 650 track pack and add few pounds to the new one , 21-23 Mach ones in a heart beat would get before a track pack 650’and if a person can swing a 350 get it , won’t drop on value All in all love your vids been watching y since beginning, keep them up and yeah I know UA-cam can be a weird place , keep it dude

What do you mean? The Bullitt got the GT350 intake manifold and open airbox that gave it an extra 20 hp. It carries over identically to the Mach 1, so yes, it is the Bullitt engine...
@@MattMaranMotoringyour take is not uncommon but it’s a 5.0 with parts from the Shelby. Doesn’t make it a bullit engine. It makes it a 5.0 with parts from a Shelby. The engine is the same. Dark horse technically has different engine from gt. Again only parts developed for bullit are the shift knob, wheels, trim and paint. I’m only nitpicking word choice not knowledge. Great work, Love the channel 🤝
@@teemeaux3830 I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. The facts are that this specific combination of engine parts was developed specifically for the Bullitt and makes the engine unique. Your reasoning for what merits a unique engine would mean the GT350 motor is just a bored out 5.0 with a different crank design, the GT500 motor is just a GT350 motor with a supercharger and a different crank design, etc etc. Swapping engine parts is what makes an engine unique and gives it unique characteristics.

If you don’t have Bullitt nostalgia like me, and don’t mind something a little less low profile, 100% I’d go for the Mach 1.
Thoughts?
The last great NA Mustang made by Ford, specifically the Mach 1 HP. The perfect Mustang (the GT500 is the most badass Mustang tho).
This
What's ironic is a lot of these cars at this point are some type of refresh of an older model/gen, yet they're priced significantly higher as if it's a totally different league of car.
@@Pozzibilitiiz and they’re on strike too😂😂😂
You did well! In 2020 year, I purchased a 2020 mustang GT, PP1, Magneride, 401a, Active Exhaust for 51,500 out the door
@@boomshakalaka8054He's leaving out trade equity/money down/etc. in that number. That is not what he paid. People do that when describing a car deal all the time, unfortunately.
Car reviews don’t need a “coming up”. A weak pull in a quiet car isn’t going to make me want to stay

Where do you live? the scenery and roads are beautiful!
Swap the mt for a tremec in the bullet?
Unfortunately it seems pretty involved and challenging.
It is not necessary to swap the whole transmission if we are just talking about better shifts. A solid mount short shifter (like the MGW shifter, for example) would be more than good to provide satisfying shifts.
I love my 2022 handling package ! In Fighter jet Gray
I wonder how much of a difference a shifter assembly upgrade on mt-32 makes.
I wanted this car so bad but my wife said need practicality so ended up with a manual elantra N lol
Trying to get me a Mach 1 or GT350 and keep it to the grave!
My thoughts exactly left over Mach ones or even few year old ones is gonn a be the deal , s550 401 dash is best dog dash , 650 dash is dog 💩, that’s a deal breaker for me , no bezels, no though just modern Kia I vape everyday day thoughts 🤷♂️, s650 track pack didn’t even give us the tremec, gave a few horsepower and twin throttle bodies going into the same I take not even separate left and right banks ,
I’ll stick to my rapid red 10r80 tech package car that I payed Pennie’s for two years ago compared to the junk 650 , and Matt for me I’ll stick with my t10sp is awesome especially when u driv the car more , it knows me and learns how I drive in each mode , mt82 prevented me from getting a stick in gt , and leave it to ford to keep it in the 650 track pack and add few pounds to the new one , 21-23 Mach ones in a heart beat would get before a track pack 650’and if a person can swing a 350 get it , won’t drop on value
All in all love your vids been watching y since beginning, keep them up and yeah I know UA-cam can be a weird place , keep it dude
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Not only is this gen cheaper it also looks better inside and out.
Great review. I picked up a 2021 w handling and appearance pkg for $51,500. So yeah, they are good deals and everybody just stares at the car. Love my Mach!
Great comparison of the two manuals. Thanks
I can’t lie.
I want a Mach 1 very badly.
I wished they made a gotta have it green mach 1
Personally I'd still rather have the GT350. Even solely based on the Matt-o-meter on the back road 🤘
GT350 doesn't have the low end torque of the 5.0. That's a factor if you do a lot of city driving.
Hey Matt, but did you like it? 😅
Did I miss the horsepower and torque?
I talked about it shortly after the acceleration. It’s 470 hp and 410 lb/ft technically.
Thanks for the Video Matt!
btw Matt would you buy one if you had the money to buy one
I still love my Bullitt
@@MattMaranMotoring do you how many miles are on it currently? just curious/wondering
19,200
@@MattMaranMotoring well it just needs 800 more miles to get to 20,000 miles🤞🤞👍👍 btw Matt how often do you have to take it in for it to get serviced is there a particular amount of miles that is has to go in for service/get/getting serviced? just wondering
@@LoganWard4621 No major service until 30k miles, just oil changes every year or around 5,000 miles, whatever comes first.
Best color by far
👍🏾
I would take the 2021 mach 1 automatic with a pro charger
Buying auto Mach 1 doesn't make a lot of sense unless you are genuinely going to track it. With an auto, it's basically a GT with a sticker package.
thanks
Nice Baracuta.
This car looks stunning. I think it has all the right retro bits without going too overboard. That constant exhaust sound is intoxicating!
Got a 24 GT 10 speed and it’s nice and fun but man I sometimes wonder how much more fun I’d have with a manual instead lol maybe later I’ll trade it for a manual but then again I’m not too sure on having the MT82 cause I’d really want the tremec
If you do end up with a manual, get an MGW shifter. I think that will bring it much closer to the Tremec.
I totally disagree with you on the seats. I have a 22 Mach 1 with the Recaro’s and they are the best seats I have EVER sat in.
I guess it comes down to body type and whether you care about all the features you lose.
giving up the cooling features is totally not worth it imo
Great review but there is no such thing as a bullit engine. The only bullit specific part is the shift knob. Mach 1 and bullit are both cool af.
@@MattMaranMotoring the engine and the intake manifold are not the same thing🤝 again great videos.
don't argue with an idiot Matt.@@MattMaranMotoring
