It's this Year's Composer Mashup Meetup Festival!
0:00 Mendelssohn is the first to come running onto the stage.
0:02 Dvorak comes and joins in the fun.
    0:05 It's Haydn's turn to play.
0:07 Wagner barges in, cutting Haydn mid-sentence. Then, he slow dances to his heart's content.
0:14 Mendelssohn just goes crazy hyper all of a sudden and Wagner just stops to watch.
0:15 Sousa joins in with his march when Mendelssohn is done with a minor seizure.
0:16 Tchaikovsky cuts Sousa off with his own march, and I guess everyone likes it because it's more well-known?
0:19 Mendelssohn is tired after dancing and gives the stage over to Ravel.
0:22 Ravel leaves while Borodin and Schubert join, trying to stop Tchaikovsky's dominance, as Tchaikovsky was well-known for dominating the scene, like he had done in multiple previous mashups. At least they could try to tire Tchaikovsky out...
0:25 Schubert and Borodin realize that they're basically giving themselves an impossible task, but Debussy says he could try and joins the competition to stop Tchaikovsky.
0:29 Nope! Tchaikovsky goes on, unfazed, and Debussy leaves the stage quietly, quite surprised at Tchaikovsky's energy.
0:31 After a bit of discussion on who will stop Tchaikovsky, Grieg tries to send Tchaikovsky off-rhythm.
0:35 Then, Elgar thinks his strategy will work and Grieg leaves the stage.
0:39 Tchaikovsky is about to be removed! Only one composer needed to make Tchaikovsky leave in frustration. Rossini comes in.
0:40 Tchaikovsky quickly rage quits because he's tired of others messing with him.
0:41 Dvorak comes on the now-empty stage and starts his own dance, peacefully.
0:44 Mozart comes in late and makes a countermelody to add some spice to the music.
0:47 Joplin complains about Mozart coming late as Mozart is always early and has never come late. Clearly.
0:52 Dvorak leaves, in anticipation of a fight.
0:54 Man, is Bizet ready to start a fight with his accented notes. He encourages everyone to talk about their grievances.
0:57 Naturally, Tchaikovsky comes and complains about the rest of the composers.
    1:00 Prokofiev counters Tchaikovsky's argument.
1:02 Beethoven comes and complains about this argument, but in reality, starting a new argument about arguments.
1:06 But then Mozart comes in (again late to the argument) and throws a fit about the composers calling him late, all while Bizet encourages it on.
1:12 Rachmaninoff comes in, trying to counter Mozart, but Mozart immediately goes crazy mad. Rachmaninoff's attempts to stop this are drowned out in Mozart's hissy fit.
1:16 Bach comes in, cuts off Mozart and Rachmaninoff, and somehow stops the fight and calms everything down. Bach to the performance.
1:19 Gershwin starts making jokes about the fights that the composers have had (but also general jokes).
1:22 Bernstein enjoys the jokes and tries to make his own, but they are terrible and Gershwin even makes jokes about Bernstein's jokes. Bernstein actually plays along with it for a change instead of other composers who would start a fight.
1:25 Albeniz joins in the fun and actually goes a bit crazy.
1:29 Look who's back! Tchaikovsky! He tries to make a bit of a mess and some fun but he is mostly ignored.
1:32 Mussorgsky calms it down a bit more with some calming music.
1:35 Schubert joins and adds more melody.
1:40 Chopin joins and shows off his crazy dancing skills and dance moves.
    1:45 Mendelssohn continues the dance.
1:46 Tchaikovsky joins, but Mendelssohn keeps dancing and talking and enjoying his time with the other composers in good humor while Tchaikovsky is ignored yet again.
1:48 Schumann joins in the fun.
1:51 Joplin decides to jazz the ongoing music up a bit (well not really).
2:00 By now, Schumann and Joplin are tired, as are a bunch of other composers. The tempo slows and Kreisler joins with his own slower humorous impromptu discussion.
2:04 Chopin is a bit tired, but decides to pitch in his ideas when he can.
2:05 Chopin leaves and Beethoven continues what Chopin did.
2:12 Chopin is back with his dancing moves! Turns out he was not tired at 2:04, but just out of ideas.
2:18 Kreisler leaves to take a break and watch while Beethoven joins again.
    2:21 Tarrtega's Nokia phone rings
2:24 Another one of chopin's dance moves that he calls the "waltz". Chopin's really been showing off today, and the other composers enjoy it because it's not Tchaikovsky for once.
2:28 Mascagni with a short interjection.
2:33 Mascagni with an even shorter interjection.
2:34 Mozart interrupts Mascagni's interjection with one of his own.
2:36 ...which is interrupted by Bach, who makes a complete sentence before handing his mic to Brahms, knowing that he (Bach) won't be able to me 2 complete sentences.
2:40 Brahms respectfully hands his mic back over to Bach.
2:42 Bach makes a slightly angrier interjection and hands the mic over to Paganini.
2:44 Something has changed with Chopin's dancing and humor...
2:45 Paganini has noticed that Chopin is somewhat more agitated, but instead of stopping it, he tries to agitate and anger Chopin further to trigger him for laughs.
2:48 Mozart kicks both Paganini and Chopin out.
2:51 Chopin joins back the stage, angry at Mozart for stealing his thunder. Mozart calls for help to kick Chopin out.
2:54 Schubert kicks Chopin out, but then blames Mozart for causing this mess. Mozart and Schubert argue.
2:56 Chopin successfully uses his uno reverse card to kick out Mozart while Mozart is arguing, and Schubert now supports Chopin because Schubert was the impostor.
2:59 Mozart, now teamed up with Bizet, eject Chopin and Schubert (the two impostors) out. Immediately, Bizet starts ranting and badmouthing about Chopin, Schubert, and Tchaikovsky because they apparently ruined the performance and caused this mess.
3:02 Vivaldi fiercely defends Chopin, Schubert, and Tchaikovsky from Bizet's accusations. Mozart, all of a sudden, is unable to much in this mess.
3:05 Beethoven kicks Vivaldi and Bizet out of the venue itself and asserts his dominance. Mozart watches.
3:09 Debussy comes in and tries to calm everyone down with Moon Music.
3:14 Beethoven is too tired and leaves the stage, while Mozart stays for a bit longer, now calmed. Schumann now joins and talks about his dreams.
3:22 Dvorak joins in this lull. And Schumann and Dvorak go on this dreamy tangent for a while.
3:36 Rachmaninoff agrees that this calmness should remain.
3:44 Dvorak starts inspiring the composers to work together and not argue. Everybody is now back in the venue.
3:48 Vivaldi agrees and adds in more inspiring quotes.
    3:51 Paganini does the same.
3:56 Schubert overdramatizes and makes it seem like a movie.
3:59 Faure builds up the suspense of the situation, like another fight is about to begin.
4:06 The overdramatization has, indeed gone too far. All the speeches have led to misinterpretations, debates, and Bach and Vivaldi get into a brawl over who's right about something Dvorak said. For some reason, Dvorak continues, trying to calm them down, but he had gone from inspiration to inciting rebellion against the government and had started a fight.
4:08 Dvorak leaves the mess he's created as the fight gets darker and messier.
4:11 Rachmaninoff is annoyed at Bach's seemingly radical ideas and sends Bach flying across the auditorium (Not visible: Bach lands on a slime block and survives). Vivaldi leaves soon after, in fear.
4:17 Bizet tries to fight Rachmaninoff and restrain him.
    4:18 RACHMANINOFF ANGRY!
4:24 But Prokofiev stops Rachmaninoff by tripping him over onto the ground and knocking him out cold and then laughs at his smartness.
4:27 But then Beethoven comes all mad about this and tries to trip Prokofiev. Bizet is now just ranting.
4:30 Haydn comes out sour-faced and annoyed at all of them.
4:31 Rachmaninoff woke up all of a sudden and RACHMANINOFF ANGRY!... and Bizet is still trying to restrain Rachmaninoff and failing. Haydn rants about all of the people who were just fighting.
4:36 Haydn gets sick of this and just goes to the back of the auditorium. Mozart, enraged, comes on, and makes all the other composers watch as he quickly takes down Rachmaninoff with the help of Bizet.
4:41 Rameau comes in, notices the mess, then nopes outta there.
4:42 Rachmaninoff continues to angrily rant and try to push Mozart off the stage, but is unable to.
4:48 Chopin comes in and fights Rachmaninoff instead.
4:52 Beethoven tries to break up the fight as Mozart leaves, but ends up in the crossfire and is punched out of the stage.
4:54 Chopin quietly leaves the stage, telling Bizet to try to restrain Rachmaninoff again. RACHMANINOFF ANGRY! RACHMANINOFF HULK!
4:57 Prokofiev tries his same tactic again, failing this time.
5:00 Rachmaninoff, the rage monster, is just watched by the audience.
5:03 Rimsky-Korsakov challenges Rachmaninoff to a duel and outdoes himself.
5:07-5:12 Rachmaninoff continues to be angry, but is now way too tired.
5:12 Paganini and Mussorgsky celebrate the composers' victory in making Rachmaninoff too tired and thereby defeating him that way.
5:19 Schumann joins, no longer in fear of a mess occurring and continues to calm everything down.
5:25 Mussorgsky leaves to give room to Tchaikovsky (who seems to have realized his lesson on dominating the entire thing, but continues to do so, but this time in good nature, letting others finish and just making a quick flourish) and Beethoven.
5:31 Gershwin joins in celebration, hoping that everything has been resolved. And Rachmaninoff joins, much calmer, and says sorry for his anger. Turns out his blood sugar was extremely low by sheer chance, and he was given an injection of glucose off-stage that brought him back to normal.
5:34 Albeniz forgives Rachmaninoff (and so do the rest of the composers) and ends on a happy and calming A-flat. The composers say goodbye to each other and leave, hoping to see each other in the next mashup.

I love 4:05 and 4:17 too! I can hear touches of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker March in that Bach/Handel, and Russian Trepak in Bizet/Rachmaninoff, even though they're not in the sheet music. I'm not sure if that's intentional, or a lucky accident, but it's gorgeous.

Thank you for doing a fourth rendition of this. I always get so excited to guess the pieces you pick out. I especially needed this at a time I'm entering the most stressful part of finishing my PhD degree. With that, here's the pieces that I guessed, by order of first appearance. I labeled some of the pieces that appeared multiple times, but not all of them yet.

Thanks Grant. I needed this to remember that I love classical music. My PhD has been killing me and I need to wrack my brain with classical music again.
PS. I can hear all the symphonic works on this one! Loving all the new pieces you put in for this!
PPS. I can already hear the Rach2 flowing as your base which I played before... Oh the memories before the pandemic...
PPPS. Absolutely stunned that how much I still know even after not listening to classical music so intensely in so long... That being said, these aren't the answers; Aidan has them. I'm just playing this one for fun now.

There is something to the CMM IV that reminds me a lot of the CMM I, but I can't quite point it out. When I listen to it I'm experiencing the same emotions that I felt when I first discovered CMM I. How amazed and very much inexplicably pleased I'm feeling now again!
Each new one you release is better than the ones before it, and I'm not even shocked at this point.
Your perfect picks for the CMM videos fill my soul with serenity that I could float when I listen to them, yet at times I catch myself dancing to them with all my might. Your art is one of the rarest that makes me feel this way.

OH MY GOD HOW DID I MISS THIS.
Been following on my other acct since CMM2 recently came out. Now you're at 100k (for some reason this acct wasn't following, but I changed that). The fact that a human being would go through all this to make this for us is just incredible.
You have my utmost respect, Grant. Great Mashup, as always. New favourite.

There are few people I would dare to call musical geniuses, if only because I'm not sure I have the skills to recognize them, but with each new Classical Music Mashup, I tell myself that you, Grant, are one...
These great composers from the more or less distant past, whom you wake up from the dead and dust off in the time of these few _arabesques,_ would be so proud I think to be thus *reimagined and even sublimated* by you.
Great work, once again, that makes you think every thirty seconds: "But it seems obvious, how had I never thought of combining them before?"
Maybe that's the genius in the end: making accessible and obvious to everyone what no one would have found on their own before...

Especially 3 and 4 are so full of brillant phrases, transistions and compositional arcs, it's a joy to listen to.
I also hope I find another 2 sets of hands to play the arrangments with xD
