I had one of Culver City's finest do his best Batman impersonation on me on that same road, leaping out from behind a stopped car while aiming his gun. The crime? Driving by him at 20 mph and catching him off guard. Apparently there was a tv series filming a few blocks up on the residential half right across the street from the studio, and he was pulling traffic duty without any visible barriers, cones or his patrol car. Maybe he mistook me for a Toyota of Peace, I don't know.
