Did some similar investigation on mine last weekend - was making an odd click/cracking noise when operating. Turns out the right hand (when looking down from the top) bolt for the actuator mount on the tailgate had been previously overtightened and had cracked the metal underneath - looks to be the same on yours. Check the bolt to the right of the piston thing that attaches to the actuator. I put a larger washer on to spread the load and it fully resolved the weird noises. May not be overtightened, could be a load stress point that has weakened over time. Thanks for taking the time to make these vids, it's an invaluable resource for people.
Hi there, Before you remove the cover of the tailgate. Try this. Close the bottom door fully and press the closing button for few seconds till you hear the toon sound then it should go back to normal. You try this. Thank you and have a wonderful day buddy. Regards
Thanks the problem I had was more mechanical , I am aware how to reset the tail gate by pressing and holding down the buttons, but on this occasion that would have made no difference :)
have been trying to fix mine for months - wqs just about to order a code reader but just spotted this and thought id give it a try. I have read about the reset on the top tailgate button but never read anywhere about the bottom tailgate button - it worked and is now fixed - thank you very much.
These are the parts I have purchased , but not fitted yet, I will complete a Part 2 video when I fit them Lower Tail Gate Strut LR159598 STAY - TAILGATE WIRE Right Hand LR034438 STAY - TAILGATE WIRE Left hand LR034439

STAY - TAILGATE WIRE Right Hand LR034438
STAY - TAILGATE WIRE Left hand LR034439
My problem is the top door opens but will not close itself, many attempts to correct not successful
It doesn't look as well, built as your old L322.
agree
L322 are excellent design
