I noticed Dove Cameron’s voice sounded deeper when voicing Mal in this series & in the Wedding Special compared to the movies where it seemed noticeably higher.

Apparently, Freddy and CJ are siblings to Celia and Harry respectively, but ig they didn't want to cast more people to have those characters also in the movies? Idk, I wish they were in the movies.
Personally I prefer Freddie to Uma and wish they had her in the movies instead. I also liked Wicked World better over all to any of the movies. It may have just been a doll commercial, but it was fun and cute. I remember there being another short series they did that was a spy camera recording different goings on at a particular lunch table while a mystery character would gossip about what was recorded. It was kind of interesting.
Mk, so about the voice cutoff thing! That always bugged me too. As a theater kid, we were always told that when you have a line where you get cut off, you are SUPPOSED to keep talking and improvising the line until you ACTUALLY GET CUT OFF. It's more smooth that way and feels more real. Also if there is a stage issue and whatever is supposed to cut you off doesn't come in time, then you stand in silence and um. . . stare for a while Edit: I typed this before I let the video finish. You basically said exactly what I did so. . . At least we agree!
I love that the movies make no reference to either the books or the miniseries. The miniseries follows the movies but not the books. And the books make all of it cannon. It's hilarious.
All I can think of while watching this is Ever After High. The interaction between both evil and good characters (plus the obvious premise similarities) is so reminiscent of EAH
Agreed; Harry choosing to have an accent lines up with his choice to always carry a hook in his perfectly functional hand. CJ presumably doesn't see the point in either affectation -- her bother's a fool. It's just a shame we never got to see the two play off of each other. That dynamic would have been fun.
I swear, every time you said the name Mal, my brain thought, "It's short for Malware, daughter of Megabyte (from ReBoot)." I have no idea why my brain went there, but it did.
3:06 You have NO idea... Magic powers, new characters, relationships... None of ALL that was reused in the next movies... 4:45 I was lost with the second sentence. You win! Amazing performance! 6:12 Yes, China dubbed Freddie in the first season. Then when she got the role for Uma, this is one of her sister who remplaced her to dub Freddie in the second season.
16:27 What I find funny is that Jane is not upset with Zevon for having shrunk her with only sons of villains, but because she made her lose the jewel, I guess since she was already the smallest it didn't bother her
The whole "good kids learning to be a little bad" was my favorite plotline when I watched this as a 10 year old, I might've been projecting with my wish to be able to not always have to be perfect due to always being perceived as the goody two shoes kid. I also made the mistake of watching this at my grandparents house and was treated with bible verses and being told that the show was satanic and that I couldn't watch it which was, an experience lol. Pretty silly in retrospect but gosh I was freaked out. Nothing like catholic grandparents.
I mean, not really. How the heck does a woman in her eighties have a teenage son? Unless adoption was involved, they should have just claimed he was her grandson.
@@Darkgun231 She definitely seems like she froze her eggs. I mean she has a whole bunch of weird sciency stuff, and enough forethought that it probably crossed her mind at some point.
If you're looking for character development, the novels are where it's at. Carlos has some reason to exist there. It's a nice change from every other medium, that way.
(not to disparage the actor in any way; he did the best he could with what he was given. but read the books, and tell me we couldn't have done more with him.)
I have to admit. I'm having a *really* hard time imagining Izma bearing kids who happen to be the same age as the VKs of the main series. Really hard time.
Only in its first chapter did it already seem threatening, it managed to shrink 3 children of respected villains and the daughter of the godmother as if nothing
Okay, you need to review Twisted Wonderland once you're done covering this series. It's sorta like Disney's own take on this franchise, except aimed at teens and adults. It has Disney characters dropping f-bombs! (Though, you're gonna have to read the fan translations by Shel_bb, since there's no English release at this time.) Update: Twisted Wonderland is getting a dub early next year, so... 👀

There’s this other series thing about descendants called Descendants: School of Secrets, it’s on UA-cam. There are books written with the “school of Secrets” thing, there’s even one written about CJ Hook (the blonde pirate chick). Maybe you could check it out afterwards? I’ll tell you a little about it. The premise of the show is an unidentified girl (possibly Lonnie) who sets up a hidden camera to capture Auradon Prep's secrets. Her goal: to expose the "real" Auradon and release hidden camera footage to the public. But when Prince Ben announces that villain kids are on their way to Auradon, the hidden camera begins to reveal all sorts of attitudes, secrets and anxieties before the villain kids' arrival.
I only watched the show because it had more characters from other Disney characters, the animation is cute & enjoy a few of their songs. I wish Disney kept Anna to be Freddie in the live action & not Uma. I like Uma & her songs but Freddie is who I knew the most. I do prefer the books a bit more than the movies
Actually, now that you mention the American accent thing, Thomas Doherty, the guy who plays Harry, is actually Scottish, which kind of explains the accent. As for the canon explanation, I have no clue
Hearing you say Tangled is your favorite Disney movie makes me so happy!! It’s my favorite too. Also yes please watch and review the series it’s amazing!
4:00 I'm of the impression carlos was always intended to look something like this, they wanted him to look like that, but it just didn't pan out for live action, that's why he has white hair in later movies I think
I’m super glad you liked it! Although no one gets to say CJ doesn’t exist, she’s literally one of my favorite Descendants characters. Mostly cause of my headcanons, but still. :)
Your point about Descendants 2 music being good because of Calling All the Monsters is something I hadn’t realized, but I was obsessed with that song that the music from the second movie is also my favorite.
This old company I used to work at, Flying Bark, did that. They made the movie 100% Wolf and the TV series for it at the exact same time. One side of the room worked on the film while the other worked away on the show. Weirdly it’s seems to be quite common to make both at the same time rather than see if one is successful, then decide make the other after said success.
there is actually are books, I've read one of them, but I never finished it, the book was about Freddie and CJ and it goes through the things that happened in descendants wicked world, and it's where CJ looks for a secret treasure in royal good good land (I forgot what the place was called) while Freddie slowly have princess friends and then they had some drama... that's all I can remember, as I said I never finished it, and it was quite nice, still sad I lost the book :/ Edit: so the book is called "School of Secrets: CJ's Treasure Chase" if your wondering

Ok so I don’t really know if you take suggestions or not, but I want to mention this series. Also sorry but this is a long message. There was this Disney Junior show called Elena of Avalor, it was a spin off show to Sophia the First. Now being a show aimed for young kids and babies I didn’t really except much from this series when my sister dragged me to watch it. But now having finished all four seasons it is probably one Disney’s most underrated shows. Oh my god. It is incredible. The animation is beautiful. The songs and musical nature is amazing. The story is so intelligent and entertaining. The characters are likeable and have wonderful arcs. The main lead, Elena, is a POC 16 year old girl, who is trying to handle being the future ruler for her kingdom. She is such a great protag and you just want to see her succeed after years of the pain she, her family, and her kingdom have been through due to an evil sorceress taking over their home. There are a couple of flaws and things I didn’t enjoy, however it never made me dislike it as a whole. And the series finale. Oh my lord. It is so satisfying. It ties everything up so well and literally made me and my sister cry. This show is like hardly ever talked about and if descendants made you feel lack luster in how Disney shows handle their stories, Elena will not fail you on that. (Also the Tangled series is good too, in terms of Disney princess shows) *Edit: I said four seasons, but there’s actually three seasons. My bad.
now that i think about it, this show is juust evie watching an "untold story" that is a alterned universe from her mothers miniturized magic mirror after the first descendants movie, u will know if you wacthed the rotten to the core music video
How could Izma have a kid? She was turned into a cat at the end of the movie and in the sequel, she was EATEN by an Eagle. How could she survived that then fall in love with a random guy and got kids? This makes no sense :S
Apparently it's just any disney villian that could have been dead or ended up as something else that just comes back. Cause that could be literally anyone
Plus, she's in her seventies or eighties, so how could she have a teenaged son at all? Unless it's adoption. Still, should have claimed he was her grandson.
Honestly, Izma is old. She could have had him before she did the stuff in emperor's new groove and just abandoned him. Not sure if that fits the descendents plot line. Does the birthing have to have happened afterwards? As to why he's still a teen. IDK, this is a universe with Neverland and characters from different time periods and regions all together so it wouldn't be that strange.
I love Wicked world as it has newer characters, AND ALSO, DESCENDANTS HAS BOOKS WITH SO MANY HOOK KIDS and YEP. We have the genie in a bottle music video, maybe a descendants books review or the royal wedding review bc I REALLY wanna see those happen.
Ohhhhhh, so that where they got the whole half sisters thing. Basically Freddie's mother is supposed to be Ursula and Uma's father is Dr. Facilier making them sisters, and Celia has a different mother. I don't know if it's canon or a headcanon but I get it now.
7:15 Lol, as a voice actress (not professionally) who has had to do one or two of those lines...yeahhhhh, it can be hard to make it sound genuine. I just started finishing the sentence, and then afterward cutting out everything after itis supposed to cut off.
there are descendants books that were prequels to the movies (isle of the lost series) , there are also books that are based on wicked world (school of secrets series)
Does anyone remember Descendants School of secrets. They were a series of shorts released to build up hype for the first movie with a gossip girl like character reporting the tea in the school. They revealed who it was in the premiere and everything
There are 2 different book series. There's the Isle of the Lost series which is actually supposed to be read between the movies and then there is the School of Secrets series. I haven't read the School of Secrets so I don't know if they're stand alone stories or if they contribute to one entire story but they do contain the characters from Wicked World.
Anyone noticed how Audrey is actually friends with the VKs in this one even if they but heads sometimes, but D3 is like a separate continuity where she is still a brat towards them. I know that descendants is infamous for it's very loose continuity between the movies, television show, and books. But come on we couldn't pick up from Audrey's character development in the show, I like this one better than the one in D3.
Audrey also seemed pretty okay with the VKs at the end of the first movie. She joined them in the final song and dance, and didn't seem to have a problem. Two movies later, and she's suddenly got a grudge because her ex didn't propose to her?
I still enjoy the animated series but since it didn't connect to the movies very well I personally write it off as not canon which sucks since the newbies needed more screentime and to see the live action counterparts in movies would've been cool but hopefully whenever the plans for D4&5 finally begin I would love to see the newbies come back and done right.
A cool show to check out would be Freefonix. I’d say the writing is similar to Monster High. Freefonix is a futuristic world where people use music to fight. Just so you know, some episodes of the English dub are not online (and the show isn’t on any streaming service), so the show has some lost media.

I’ll be straight, I liked Wicked World and I’ve never seen any of the other materials. Just that short series. Mal’s Evil song is my favorite and further proof that villain songs are the best.
As for the accent thing, while Americans do have an accent (variable by region), it can be shown through several ways that the standard "American accent" is (in effect) what speaking English would sound like with minimal or no accent at all by looking a few things; one of the more recent ones I've learned is how most singers (without training) tend to "lose" their local accent when singing a song - traces remain, but much of it vanishes. There are actually some really interesting studies on this on UA-cam that I recommend anyone who's interested looking into. Lots of fun stuff.
Descendants star Dove Cameron and author Melissa de la Cruz sat down for an in-depth interview about the series and explained just how everything works together. "I was informed very early on...by the head of Disney Channel, Gary Marsh, that the reason this project has taken so long was because Disney Corporate had to approve of somebody officially embellishing on the original stories, because that is what we're doing," Dove explained. "Anything else, like Once Upon a Time, hasn't actually been an official embellishment on the story," she continued, "We. Are. Canon." Descendants was actually the first time Disney was officially touching the classic tales of their movies. "That's why it took so long, because apparently, Disney corporate was like 'That's a terrible idea, we don't want to mess with the original stuff.' And so [Gary] told me that. He was like, 'This is the first time that this is ever going to happen.'" Dove adds, "Disney Channel is it's own thing, it's own beast, so to be told you're involved in the classics is like, there's nothing more delicious than that. I think that's why we're all so invested in the series and the franchise itself because it's the first time!" "It's the deepest honor, so for me, it was less nerve-wracking and the most delicious opportunity."
I watched Wicked World a while back almost entirely for Freddy-- my rp circles tend to be those that have anime/ animated face claims, and a character I was making is black. There's... not a whole lot of black characters in anime, and even western animation is hard to find them for. I can't remember if Freddy made the short list bc she had gold eyes like my char or some other reason, but she didn't end up being my final choice. Still, didn't regret watching the web series, but def did entirely forget about it lol.
freddie is not such a good character because he only became good because the place that cj gave him was not satisfactory and he is never explored again when he meets again there is no interaction but cj has been shrinking freddie with his new friends
I want to say (not that anyone will see this), that I think the relationship between Maleficent and Hades was pretty clever. (a) It's a reference to a holiday special in the House of Mouse show, if I recall, where the two end up either on a date or in love or something similar (b) Maleficent explicitly calls on the "powers of Hell" (effectively the same as the "powers of Hades" in Disney quasi-canon) (c) neither Disney's Sleeping Beauty nor Disney's Hercules payed much of any attention to the old source material - Persephone doesn't exist in the Disney canon because, effectively, neither does the Hellenic Hades (who wasn't really anything at all like the Disney's Hercules version), UNLESS "Goddess of Spring" is considered canon to Descendants, in which case Hades must also be equated to the Devil in Descendants canon (see "a" for further reinforcement of this), but not necessarily as evil as we we think of "the Devil" being (though still fairly evil, and imprison-on-the-Isle-worthy). Speaking of why Hades might be imprisoned on the isle, his big crime was "let's nearly destroy the world and overturn the gods" - he wasn't merely doing his divine duties (and this also implies that the gods may well have blessed/empowered the isle barrier themselves, which likely explains its efficacy). Also, from the Hercules cartoon canon, we've seen that Hades can (at least temporarily) be replaced; thus it's probable that someone else is filling in for him. ... dang it, now I want a film about *that* series. I can see it now: "Panic; Pain: polish the chariot. Daddy's back in town." *put on sunglasses, hair lights on fire, rock mu- uh, I mean, Disney-approved music plays*

I never said it was a bad thing 😂 Thats why they make series for dolls, so you fall in love with the characters and want to BUY the dolls. It worked, I have plenty of Descendants dolls, and Ever After High, And Monster High, and the list goes on and on. 😅
@@nita7703 but it was better tho
I'm glad there's someone else who was also weirdly obsessed with Calling All the Monsters
Did you see the new version? It's so good!
Disney struck Halloween gold with that song
@@cartoonishidealism582 And they had a failed follow-up to that song. I forgot what it was called, but all I know is that even younger me did not like it.
Real
@@kittykittybangbang9367Found it! It was "I Got my Scream On"
As someone who also has tangled as her favorite movie , I can guarantee you that the animated series will not disappoint you and you will have a good time watching it!
Agreement
I 100% agree!
Absolutely! It's one of my favorite series! It has its flaws but it's very good overall!
I noticed Dove Cameron’s voice sounded deeper when voicing Mal in this series & in the Wedding Special compared to the movies where it seemed noticeably higher.
I think they all sounded a bit different from their live action versions
Nearly died from cringe when they started slinging Yo Mama jokes a decade after their popularity, but I wasn't expecting this guy to quadruple down on the joke till I actually respected it? I'm so glad I found this channel
SAME
What?No
SAME LMAO
Apparently, Freddy and CJ are siblings to Celia and Harry respectively, but ig they didn't want to cast more people to have those characters also in the movies? Idk, I wish they were in the movies.
Personally I prefer Freddie to Uma and wish they had her in the movies instead. I also liked Wicked World better over all to any of the movies. It may have just been a doll commercial, but it was fun and cute.
I remember there being another short series they did that was a spy camera recording different goings on at a particular lunch table while a mystery character would gossip about what was recorded. It was kind of interesting.
i literally thought that other show was a fever dream
@@minvi152 lol same
Ever After High and Monster High are both doll commercials and they're both fantastic (fang-tastic, in the world of Monster High)
I like both but Freddie is so underrated to me. I like her design too.
So are Freddie and Celia siblings? It’s confusing bc they both exist in the universe
Also if there is a stage issue and whatever is supposed to cut you off doesn't come in time, then you stand in silence and um. . . stare for a while
Edit: I typed this before I let the video finish. You basically said exactly what I did so. . . At least we agree!
7:52 I think she was probably also born with magic hair and Rapunzel might have decided to let it be her daughter's choice if she cuts it or not
I love that the movies make no reference to either the books or the miniseries.
Harry: meet my sister. CJ
CJ: He isn’t my brother. Just a fool.
Initially found Descents from the animated series, it's honestly underrated
Dr. Faciller apparently has two daughters in this franchise that never met each other.
in character celia beats freddie
I swear, every time you said the name Mal, my brain thought, "It's short for Malware, daughter of Megabyte (from ReBoot)."
I have no idea why my brain went there, but it did.
Nothing like catholic grandparents.
but freddie's character is too wasteful and even more so when he changes his voice
The 'yo mama' tangent made me smile so much. I love good yo mama jokes.
This show deserves to exist solely for acknowledging Eyzma and The Emperor’s New Groove (The best Disney movie of all time, fight me).
@@percabethlumity That is an idea I hadn't considered.
There are actually four books based off the movies, and unlike the movies they focus a little more on the supporting character and backstories.
Negative giving slight hints of a tangled the series video is literally so exciting!!
If you're looking for character development, the novels are where it's at. Carlos has some reason to exist there. It's a nice change from every other medium, that way.
(not to disparage the actor in any way; he did the best he could with what he was given. but read the books, and tell me we couldn't have done more with him.)
This animated series is such a comfort to me. Whenever I'm on my period I like to watch it cuz it makes me feel better lol
(Though, you're gonna have to read the fan translations by Shel_bb, since there's no English release at this time.)
Update: Twisted Wonderland is getting a dub early next year, so... 👀
Oh Hell yeah!! I was looking for this comment lol also they need to check out the game first lol
OHH SILVER MY BELOVED
sorry its just fun to see twst fans in places not twst related heheehhe
18:08
There are books, the first book actually got released before the first movie so they were probably in production around the same time.
8:32
My guess on why the class did this: They picked it cause apparantly, Tangled is placed in Germany
You're working so hard, it's okay to take a breat if and when you need it. Just know that we appreciate you and your content whatever you do. I hope you'll feel better sometime ❤️
14:50 when you said "Can she walk through walls, disappear and fly", my mind went "he's much more unique than the other guys" and I had to pause and let it finish in my head to recall what cartoon it was from🤣
I love how they randomly gave Mal scene/emo hair
Can’t remember the last time I saw legend not wearing eyeliner, it’s seriously been that long .
In the books all the Hook kids have different moms, so maybe that’s why
Hearing you say Tangled is your favorite Disney movie makes me so happy!! It’s my favorite too. Also yes please watch and review the series it’s amazing!
Just want to say you work really hard, thank you for working hard. I needed this video
Love the joke in the sign off at the end 😂
4:00 I'm of the impression carlos was always intended to look something like this, they wanted him to look like that, but it just didn't pan out for live action, that's why he has white hair in later movies I think
"Were there books?" Oh boy, you are in for a whole new world, my friend. Good luck!
I’m super glad you liked it! Although no one gets to say CJ doesn’t exist, she’s literally one of my favorite Descendants characters. Mostly cause of my headcanons, but still. :)
I discovered descendants by this soo it cool to see you cover it
Your point about Descendants 2 music being good because of Calling All the Monsters is something I hadn’t realized, but I was obsessed with that song that the music from the second movie is also my favorite.
13:05 Maybe Hook and his wife split up, and one of the kids was raised by whoever their mother is and the other by Hook himself.
11:18 OMGOMFOMG I didn’t notice the nonbinary bunny bow until just now!!!
Yes, There are Descendents books, there called The Isle of the Lost series and there's 4 books in total.
there is actually are books, I've read one of them, but I never finished it, the book was about Freddie and CJ and it goes through the things that happened in descendants wicked world, and it's where CJ looks for a secret treasure in royal good good land (I forgot what the place was called) while Freddie slowly have princess friends and then they had some drama...
that's all I can remember, as I said I never finished it, and it was quite nice, still sad I lost the book :/
Edit: so the book is called "School of Secrets: CJ's Treasure Chase" if your wondering
the same cj took revenge on freddie for betraying her. which later makes a lot of sense because he told those from auradon that they are clumsy and this place makes the villains good with the help of zevon they shrink 2 ex-villains and the daughter of the godmother when they send them to the lamp cj sees Small-size Freddy Satisfyingly While She Goes Down
You going mad about all the details they didn't include in the movie was a MOOD. I FELT that. I feel seen.
Yes there are books that go between the movies along with Junior Novelizations of the movies. Please review the "Genie in a Bottle" music video and the Under the Sea short. There's also the wedding special.
Btw, I love that you're getting these videos out consistently, but please make sure to take care of yourself. True fans of your content will stick around and patiently wait for more videos
And school of secrets
What's that? I haven't heard of that
Ok so I don’t really know if you take suggestions or not, but I want to mention this series.
(Also the Tangled series is good too, in terms of Disney princess shows)
*Edit: I said four seasons, but there’s actually three seasons. My bad.
Harry Hook absolutely chooses to have an accent for the drama. It's HARRY, COME ON
now that i think about it, this show is juust evie watching an "untold story" that is a alterned universe from her mothers miniturized magic mirror after the first descendants movie, u will know if you wacthed the rotten to the core music video
You are the reason why I got into Witch now I’m obsessed and I have finished both season 2 and three ugh
@@Darkgun231 my theory says fairygodmother made them younger or ageless
@@jasperremains8984 That makes even less sense! What 'hero' or 'good guy' would be foolish enough to make a villain younger, let alone immortal?!
The "Yo Mama" jokes were fantastic, Negative.
They were better than what I came up with when I was young! I always sucked.
CJ could have grown up in a different place than Harry, like how she could have been raised by a different parent than Harry lmao
I love Freddie! I had a doll of her and it was so nice.
Also CJ and Freddie’s relationship is great in the books
it's funny that freddie and jane were the only girls that appeared out of the doll-sized lamp and they don't have a version with those dresses

Animation truly is the superior artform.
I wish the web series continued. The movies basicly canceled anything that happened in this and makes me sad
@@singingwolf8997 she was saving face
I still enjoy the animated series but since it didn't connect to the movies very well I personally write it off as not canon which sucks since the newbies needed more screentime and to see the live action counterparts in movies would've been cool but hopefully whenever the plans for D4&5 finally begin I would love to see the newbies come back and done right.
A cool show to check out would be Freefonix. I’d say the writing is similar to Monster High. Freefonix is a futuristic world where people use music to fight. Just so you know, some episodes of the English dub are not online (and the show isn’t on any streaming service), so the show has some lost media.

I wish they didn't name Genie's daughter Jordan because it just makes me think of the ring genie Jordan from Bevanfield's Aladdin(look up that cartoon at your own risk)
7:42 uh if following the plot of tangled, nobody in rapunzels fam is blonde. Neither rapunzel nor Flynn are blonde. They're both brunette or brown hair. The golden hair came from the flower. The last flower was used so the daughter can't have blonde hair. And wait what was her name? Ruby? How bout Rebecca instead? Ruby doesn't really make sense to me. Both mom and dad have at least 6 letters in their name. 4 is too short. Do 7 like in rapunzels name
Watching a bunch of your videos now after subscribing yesterday and I just wanna say I'd love to see a video about the Tangled series! I honestly loved it! Even if there were a few things that bugged me (still mad the moon!Varian theory didn't pan out and I think Cassandra's motivations for going darkside were dumb), but most of the storyline and character development was great, Rapunzel and Eugene's relationship gets excellent development, and the songs were awesome!

I’ll be straight, I liked Wicked World and I’ve never seen any of the other materials. Just that short series. Mal’s Evil song is my favorite and further proof that villain songs are the best.
I liked it more than the live actions i hope they reboot it
As for the accent thing, while Americans do have an accent (variable by region), it can be shown through several ways that the standard "American accent" is (in effect) what speaking English would sound like with minimal or no accent at all by looking a few things; one of the more recent ones I've learned is how most singers (without training) tend to "lose" their local accent when singing a song - traces remain, but much of it vanishes. There are actually some really interesting studies on this on UA-cam that I recommend anyone who's interested looking into. Lots of fun stuff.
I just bindged your descendents and eah videos TODAY and now I have been blessed by this.
I recently watched the tangled series recently and it’s amazing! The songs are awesome and so is the story.
Are. Canon."
Descendants was actually the first time Disney was officially touching the classic tales of their movies.
"That's why it took so long, because apparently, Disney corporate was like 'That's a terrible idea, we don't want to mess with the original stuff.' And so [Gary] told me that. He was like, 'This is the first time that this is ever going to happen.'"
Dove adds, "Disney Channel is it's own thing, it's own beast, so to be told you're involved in the classics is like, there's nothing more delicious than that. I think that's why we're all so invested in the series and the franchise itself because it's the first time!"
"It's the deepest honor, so for me, it was less nerve-wracking and the most delicious opportunity."
Damn it, I will wait however long it takes to see you review 'Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure'. That must happen.
U literally just reminded me about "calling all the monsters"
I remember when this first came out and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next
I can’t believe that Desendents came out in 2015. It feels like it only came out a year ago or two.
I want to say (not that anyone will see this), that I think the relationship between Maleficent and Hades was pretty clever.
(a) It's a reference to a holiday special in the House of Mouse show, if I recall, where the two end up either on a date or in love or something similar
(b) Maleficent explicitly calls on the "powers of Hell" (effectively the same as the "powers of Hades" in Disney quasi-canon)
(c) neither Disney's Sleeping Beauty nor Disney's Hercules payed much of any attention to the old source material - Persephone doesn't exist in the Disney canon because, effectively, neither does the Hellenic Hades (who wasn't really anything at all like the Disney's Hercules version), UNLESS "Goddess of Spring" is considered canon to Descendants, in which case Hades must also be equated to the Devil in Descendants canon (see "a" for further reinforcement of this), but not necessarily as evil as we we think of "the Devil" being (though still fairly evil, and imprison-on-the-Isle-worthy).
I can see it now:
"Panic; Pain: polish the chariot. Daddy's back in town."
*put on sunglasses, hair lights on fire, rock mu- uh, I mean, Disney-approved music plays*
if you wanna do more disney I’d really suggest looking into disney twisted wonderland. it’s basically disney’s pretty boy villain high school isekai with character designs by the creator of black butler.
I remember watching this as it came out, I think it's pretty good plus it introduced us to Jordan and Freddie(I think?)
Another comment mentioned Mia and me and I fully agree with them I'd love to see what you think about it while the animation is kinda off putting looking at it now it's still a rather interesting story and I'd love to see what your opinions on it are
Yeah this can NEVER beat Ever After High. It definitely feels like it was only created for their dolls.
