- Open your hard drive PCB. Then check all components if all components are OK then clean PCB motor connector. If motor connector is OK then change your hard drive PCB . here how you know what is requirements for donner PCB . First check hard drive model no, then product of, and PCB no. If All of requirements are in the donner PCB then you can change the PCB. Thank you...

Really thank you sir,i just have repaired a clicking HDD by cleaning the contacts to the pcb and motor side and the disk came to life.Previous attempts was to solder all the pcb joins and the disk worked for some time due to the removal of the pcb but had many intermittent problems over the time.The last time i checked it i decided to throw it away but then it left aside only by my lazyness.

Hello friend, I have a question, out of context.
I have a Seagate Barracuda ES HDD, (3 platters) but I removed the internal parts, leaving only the Motor and the Logic Board (control) because I would like to use it for a Mini Sander but, after removing just the needle assembly, the Motor does not run (before it was running normally). I've tried several ways, connecting pins 2-6 and 3-5 with a jumper, but there's no way to get it to turn. Could it be that this type of HD only works with the needle assembly in place? Please let me know if you have any tips on this; Thank you.

Hi man,i have an internal disk that went corrupted and unreadable after i took it from my old pc to upgrade to a new pc,now when i connect it to the next pc,it says MISSING DISK and cannot be reinitialize,i can hear the motor moving and there is no unusual noise,what do you think could be the problem?thanks

@@akmal5027 When I removed the circuit board, it was easy to see that the gold plating on the PCB is defective. Especially on the 16 pin spring loaded connector going to the read head. I did clean the pads with an eraser and wiped with alcohol. The drive worked long enough for me to copy almost all of the data. There were a few blocks that had apparently been corrupted because of deteriorating gold plate. A few days later I powered the drive and attempted to access the files again.... The drive began to fail completely after decreasing periods of minutes.. I say it is dead... But thanks to this SR Advise video, I was able to save almost all of my data...THAT IS GOOD!

I am glad you hard dix started working after rubbing. I understand that it was wet and the motor was not spinning, but your hard dix was sensed in the end. Please take care of your hard dix. Dont put your hard dix in random places. It could break.

I noticed he put his fingers onto the cleaned contacts, then reassembled the unit. Do not touch the contacts after cleaning!

Great video! I have to old harddisk with many photographs and video footage of last 13 years but I can not get working my both harddisks! After seeing your video and especially the such a huge possitive problem solving response, I am gonna give a try to get them working as the material I have saved on it, has a such a great sentimental value as many people and family members have died in the past years!

Hi I have a hardisk with the Rom (Bios burned - in the sense that PCB's rom is missing)
Reason I had buying a card to do the swapping but the repairman lost the original card)
Do you think it is possible to recover my Seagate Hardisk?
In short, the HD has never been opened and card that has does not have the original BIOS
I feel the engine turns but it doesn't see any data windows with new pcb donnor

how to check the drive to see if anything was written to before it stopped working? the white light on my wd external drive doesnt come on, it worked on my old pc, not on new one, i tried a laptop i couldn't figure out. please help.
