- The beautiful green heron. People often ask why they are called green herons when they don’t look green at all. Well, as this video will show, that all depends on the light. ↓↓↓
Watch the elegant but fierce green heron bask in the golden sun, take a quick nap, and prey on big juicy frogs.

Wow! What a video production about birds. I have not seen anything this beautiful, pleasant, and memorable.
Truely beautiful
Thank you
Beautiful all around!👍💯
I followed a green heron for a few hours. I was able to snap some pics but I didn't film any of it. This was wonderful!! Bravo!
Thank you! Before I started to film this can you believe I had almost no luck with them? It’s still crazy to me that this is my video because I went from nothing to this. I’m very proud of it. :)
Great work.. another awesome video. I recently came across your channel and enjoyed all videos and photos. Keep it up!
Thank you
Very well done, the introduction of the Heron by the deer was fantastic.
Happy you liked it! I chose not to second guess myself with the deer. I felt there was a possibility that people would tune out when the first half minute of a green heron video didn’t have a green heron, but to me I thought it set it up nicely. Gives context to the location, the heron’s neighbors, and gives scale to the size of the heron. Thank for watching 😊
Absolutely lovely! Nice work.
Thank you very much!
Incredible video, many fantastic shots !
Thanks a lot!
Super footage and audio sync, especially the food capture piece. Heron tired; heron sleep now😁. Interesting how bird’s legs blended in with marsh grass.
Haha thank you
Un gran vídeo Ryan
Thank you
Lovely footage👍😍
Thank you!
Awesome work Ryan - loved the video 👍🙏
Thanks, Adrian!
Absolutely fantastic work here Ryan! Love the edit and gently easing the music selection in after the natural sound as well. Brilliant!
Thank you!
So well done. The music editing was spot on perfectly coordinated with the image. And those images...absolutely stunning. Beautiful vid! Can’t wait for more!
Thank you
Great video!
Thank you!
Ryan

J’adore 🎥
Awesome work, Ryan! I especially love the scenes with the heavily blurred backgrounds ... you achieved some beautiful subject isolation in many of the clips!
Throw enough time at a project and things start to happen 😉 Thanks!
Great video, loved your article in Fstoppers, as I am having the same experience right now with macrovideography. From stills to video, working with the gear you have, figuring out the editing, etc... Extremely inspirational thank you !
Great to hear!
Really nice! You tell a great story with stunning and intimate video with perfect music selection. Super impressive!
Thanks
Absolutely beautiful!!! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Ryan that was a fantastic video on this green heron especially when he's eating a bullfrog after all they eat the other little small frogs .
You did a fantastic job on that and even the music was done really really nice I love it keep up that great work this is really A good jod you did here .
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
There are about 3 around my pond and its lovely, I hear their distinctive calls and see them perching and waiting for a bug for aquatic prey they like to move around and swoop around the pond and find areas to feed. They are a mixture of patience and odds of moving around. They also can see straight down allowing them to stand in shallow waters or on the edge and fish.
It never gets old seeing them around
Very nice footage! Despite the A7/A9 are not video-centric cameras you did a great job and this is a great encouragement for who wants to try to shoot some videos without buying an extra camera dedicated only to that purpose. Did you use manual focus throughout the video?
Thank you for the kind words. It’s been a while but I believe most if not all of this is manual focus, yes.
Beautifully filmed & portrayed! I asked at 3:35....did it taste like chicken? Thanks for sharing!
😂
