It is a Sand guitar, built by Kirk Sand. Chet played one of his guitars. In fact a Sand was the basis for the chambered body, nylon string Gibson model that Chet was part of. Richard Smith also plays Sand guitars.
He is the very best picker on the planet, and I say the best all around player .... bar none. When Eric Clapton himself comes out and says your the best he`s ever seen..... who can argue with that ????

8 years too late but why not :D I personally talked About that with TE, he said that he has taken in so much stuff (BB King,Montgomery, Benson,....) that he does not have to think About any skales or modes, he is just thinking of a Melody an is instantly able to Play it due to the applied knowledge
@AgentZeroForTheWin Yeah, okay, it's all very well you saying that but I'd need some links to be know for sure. TE will need much more than 8 hours sleep a day when he's super busy and also, he has to make time for many other things in his day rather than 16 hours solid practice.
That solo is one of the most inspired pieces of improv I've ever seen! Absolutely nails it.
