My Wife and I have been TE'S show also in a small venue and he is such a great showman and picker, you never know what he is going to pick next and you feel yourself smiling thru the whole show. Thnx Tommy for a great show. Best Wishes
Sorry about the smell in here, I just sh*t my pants. If I wasn't convinced Tommy Emmanuel was an alien I would throw my guitar away and drink a bottle of clorox. This man is a living legend an one of the most humble players in the world. Long life and keep pickin' Tommy!
It appears to me to be a question of practice, practice, practice, rather than place of birth. I share your Clorox feelings. He makes me want to slit my wrists. At the same time there are many folks in Tennessee who have mastered this technique of fingerpicking. In 1962 I thought the Beatles were "IT." THAT WAS UNTIL I LEARNED TOMMY AND HIS FRIENDS EXISTED.
this is one of the most inspirational videos I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot of tommy before!). quick check - anyone else out there giving themselves a pinched nerve going for those stretches in that caravan arrangement? ;)
woopss... you´re right ofcourse! nog niet naar trevanium :p gemaild, ben nog antwoord van dolf aan het afwachten ( ivm reservering kaartjes ;) ) maar als ik niks hoor deze week ( k zie hem waarschijnlijk met de carnaval weer) dan mail ik trevanica begin volgende week. fijne carnaval!
Sony HC7 mini DV tape, captured in HD 1440x1080 - Adobbe CS3 and coded to WMF 1280 x 960 for u-tube. There are cheaper ways to do it but this works for me. Enjoy the uploads
@cwsgershwin not often any one thinks about the guy ruining his show so that he can capture the event - hope people see your vids - excellent playing and recording
as you will see on my channel, i met Satch in new york where he was playing with the late great les paul, 3 great players and all great people. pleased you found the video and talked to TE
thanks to HD camera and youtube for ging HD - would have loved to film the whole thing but I was a bit obvious on the front row - just enjoyed the show
The way it worked for me: Log On to your account, click on 'Playback Setup' and choose the third option, "I have a fast connection. Always play higher-quality video when it's available." -> Save settings and come back to this vid, you should see the link to watch in HD just under the video. I hope it works. Cheers!
@sidneyandherbie You're very welcome. I keep coming back to this video time and time again. I've never seen TE live, but this video is like sitting in the front row. :)
Caravan" is a jazz standard composed by Juan Tizol and first performed by Duke Ellington in 1937. Irving Mills wrote the lyrics. Everybody likes the Chet version of that song, myself included. .
@sidneyandherbie He plays at a very small venue here close to me, and I'm pretty sure he'll be stopping there in a few months as he travels from one show to another, and has a day's layover. It's never announced on his website, as it's just a little podunk spot that belongs to an old luthier. I'm hoping to get a front row spot for that.
from yellowpostbox- timings are for the non HD version Windy & Warm (1:27) Wheels (1:49) The Claw (2:15) Bye-Bye Blackbird (2:49) Saturday Night Shuffle (3:26) Deed I Do (4:22) Yankee Doodle Dixie (4:39) Waltzing Matilda (5:22) Wildwood Flower (5:36) Lover Come Back To Me (5:51) Avalon (6:37) Caravan (7:24) Cannonball Rag (8:16)

@diabinhoUSA its great there are so many variations of chet's style but he was the man who inspired so many, wish i had seen him - still a dose of tommy every year helps
@Marsipaniaa He plays with his tips as mentioned in his note for note DVD. Reason why is he has soft nails, so he had used his tips ever since. I bet they are as hard as rocks.
The greatest guitar player in the world.... it's all great, but all hell breaks loose from 6:00 to the end... If you don't say "Holy _ _ _ _!" when he hits that lick at 6:35, you have no idea what great is....lol. Tommy Rocks!
@MsSpawn1234 hi from scotland, pleased you found this and my other vids - join the happy band of tommy fans who just love his concerts and style of playing - get an acoustic and get playing
The more I watch TE stuff, the more I find myself saying, whatever, you freak of nature, then I stop watching. Then I hear something get closer to the screen. Kinda sick that anyone could be that good. To many "did he just do that" moments in this video for me, and yet I still watch. Over and Over. He's so good I can't stop watching. And everyone is correct 3:13 is where the real magic starts. TE you're a freak.
@Marsipaniaa Tommy uses his tips to play instead of his nails. He said that in his note for note DVD. Reason being he has soft fingernails on his right hand. I bet his tips are as hard as diamonds.
No matter how many times i watch this clip, It never fails to make me smile. Thanks.
He plays with such energy and he looks like he has so much fun playing that it add to the music.
My Wife and I have been TE'S show also in a small venue and he is such a great showman and picker, you never know what he is going to pick next and you feel yourself smiling thru the whole show. Thnx Tommy for a great show. Best Wishes
3:15 Is one of those 'Wait a sec I'm gonna put a smile on your face' moments, and man it worked for me! Great vid, thanks for uploading!
Pure joy. The world's finest paying tribute to two of the world's greatest.
The sound and video quality on this are so great. I have memorized the order of all the songs from listening to it so much.
Thanks for sharing this... There were no cameras allowed at his Cleveland show, last year, but thanks to UA-cam, that isn't a problem.
One of the best videos out here. Whomever was running camera did a nice job too. Fantastic medley
I think I've watched this video more than any other you YT. Absolutely awe inspiring and uplifting. Happy Christmas to yourself, TE!
What a Master... Who cannot love this amazing talent???
I will be watching him in St Pete, Florida 6/27/10 from the fourth row and feel like a kid waiting for Christmas......
he gives us all inspiration
There aren't enough words to describe his talent!

@Marsipaniaa
He plays with his tips as mentioned in his note for note DVD.
Reason why is he has soft nails, so he had used his tips ever since.

@Marsipaniaa I thought I heard him say, that he uses fingertips. That nails is the classical way! But I'm not 100% sure.
pleased you are happy
Сильнейший гитарист супер таких не много

@Marsipaniaa
Tommy uses his tips to play instead of his nails. He said that in his note for note DVD. Reason being he has soft fingernails on his right hand.
I bet his tips are as hard as diamonds.
@Marsipaniaa ill ask him if i get the chance in november - i would guess he uses both as required - bye
I really like the quality here! What kind of camera do you use?

This man sits on the right hand side of Django...G,,,
happy dude =)
He's made a happy man very old Spawn
Wipe a little bacon grease on the strings. That’s the secret!
@MaRcJiNN Caravan - a Duke Ellington song i think!
where? - lucky you
@Marsipaniaa
Fingertips, no nails although he plays with a thumbpick usually
He uses the fingertips. Says the nails on his right hand are no good. He just has hard fingertips from all that playing.
What is name of the song that plyed at very beginning.
windy and warm, a chet atkins song
@Marsipaniaa tommy plays with fingertips and a thumb pick - he has really short fingernails!
me too
@shellingford7 good one!
@Marsipaniaa Im pretty sure he doesnt grow his nails
Nathan
omfg. i just want to be able to play all that stuff about 10x slower
This particular performance was a little too frenetic, which diminishes it's beauty, but the talent is pretty obvious. Tommy is one of the best.
0 38 - Swedish rapsody
@gfilip im going to study a few of yours - the wonders of youtube
does anyone know what song that is starting at 3:57?
