The father of my good Italian friend Giuseppe, who is now gone one said life is a series of beginnings and endings right now I am staying in Castelnuovo Berardenga
. I have been here five days and will be here till the 25th. Fortunately, there are many wonderful meals and bottles of wine plus great beauty
We are lucky and have some wonderful local restaurants in the area, Cavallino was very special, but there was an opportunity for them to retire and after 40 years of work they deserve it. We will miss them in the restaurant but will continue to see them as friends.
My favorite chef's father, Mario Palagi, was from Pietrasanta. Small world ❤ great video.

How sad Benabbio's much-loved restaurant closed. May the owners enjoy a wonderful retirement. . . and may the village have a new traditional trattoria sometime in the near future.

I to, was sad, hearing and watching Benabbio’s restaurant final night, I imagine you and all the local community, will miss their wonderful food ( and wine) so much, good luck on the owners retirement. Fingers crossed, the restaurant can reopen soon with another equally good chef and owner, for you all to enjoy.

Glad I saw this episode, my husband and I had planned on visiting that restaurant and put it on our itinerary for our next trip there in February based on your recommendations in another video you had done about them. We'll have to find another spot for some authentic local dinning. I'm sure they'll be missed by the community.
Try Circolo dei Forestieri in Bagni di Lucca. Stefania is a wonderful cook, check opening times for winter and book before going there.

After 45 years, Claudio does have the right to hang up his apron, and as you say there are exciting times ahead for both of them.
End of an era for your village; as you say as one door closes, another one opens hopefully. I wonder Enzo did the thought of having your own restaurant appeal to you with your love of cooking?
Enzo says he is now past the expiring date to open a restaurant and life in the past led him in a different direction.

They have both worked for over 40 years so I guess they deserve their retirement, but we are sad to lose such a special place. I am a very cold person and it was early in the morning. On our hill, it is still very warm, and sitting outside for dinner in just a light shirt is a joy. Let us hope this Indian summer lasts a little longer. A presto, Celia and Enzo.

E' davvero un lavoro monumentale!
So sad that Il Cavallino Bianco has now closed. But so happy we were able to experience Claudio's wonderful food and lovely Alessandro's patience with our piccolo Italiano. Hopefully a restaurant just as authentic and special will take over.
Thankfully, we never saw any snakes on the path but watching you both walking there brings back many happy memories.❤

It was only a grass snake, but I don't like being near them! We will miss Alessandro and Claudio very much but they will have more time to spend with us all socially.

My mother used to live above the swimming pool in Bagni di Lucca,my favourite place to eat when I visited was always Da Mamo,is it still open?
Da Mamo is a very good restaurant. I've not been there for a long time but friends told me that is still very good. The area above the swimming pool is lovely, a beautiful part of Bagni di Lucca. You might like to watch a video we made about the passeggiata dell'amore, where we walk on the hill above the pool.

Hopefully a new Owner will take over otherwise Benabbio will be losing a great asset. Only the Pizzeria now open and the Shop is closing I believe.
We really hope someone will take it over. A lovely life could be created by running this restaurant, there are so many possibilities.
