I found my TLM diocesean community, sadly, very open and accepting of the SSPX, radtrad position, and talking points. Oh, and it has become a hub for SSPX to offer Masses, use of Parish hall, now offering Tenenbrae, also the new sacristan is an SSPX parishioner with a son that is an SSPX priest!!! I frequently spoke with the Pastor over the past year in order to understand the Bishop's mind but I was given no real answers(been there done that), I really needed a reason to want to be in this environment. I was also tormented with the constant thought of wondering why did I leave the SSPX if my Bishop is blessing all of this? I could easily see that the average guy in the pew is very confused and my takeaway is that this environment is seasoning some to step out of the church into schism. Also, much of the coffee get togethers there were full of dissenting anti Pope Francis etc. conversation. I was so triggered that I had to leave. I have discovered that there are amazing clergy and lay Catholics doing great things within the church working with the "Spirit of Vatican ll" not weaponizing it toward the other side of the same coin. So, I am now full of wonder and joy and have a new freedom in Christ which leads me to a deeper love and relationship with His Church. I hope to talk with you one day on your monthly get togethers.!! I love your channel and the interviews you have done. I'm a fellow ex-trad. At first I wasn't going to click because I generally don't like the tone of WPI, but as the trad movement has grown ever more unhinged, I figured I would take a listen. I'm sure there's still disagreements I have with Like Lewis, but as the trads get crazier, the more I nod in agreement with Lewis.
When people say the trad movement is unhinged or words to that effect I have no idea what they're talking about. The only conclusion I can come to is that they're referencing people on the internet and the way they express themselves. I think it's an unfair assessment to say this group or that group is unhinged based on what is it on the internet since the internet is a cesspool of raw emotion which gives people confidence to say things they would never say to another in real life because of anonymity. To be fair all people who express themselves on the internet are generally jerks. The answer is to unplug and just go to Mass where God receives His due and you're not seeking your own likes or dislikes but seek the glory of God first. You will find that your experience is nothing like what you dreamed about by listening to people on the internet.
Thank you for this discussion. Rightly identifies where traditionalism leads to. And going back to Father Columba Jordan's reflection, that there are people who are stuck in a moralistic therapeutic deism that does not grow into a more purposeful, loving relationship with God that sadly tends to be a self centered faith. Like what I said to a popular Catholic apologist who is having a hard time accepting Fiduccia Supplicans, that the heart of Christ are the gospels and therefore the heart of the church as well. And the gospel's theme is pastoral, meaning the gospel of love, first and foremost that guides the theological truths in it that serves as the well spring of the Catholic faith.
This is so edifying for me to watch. This bridge is so needed and increasingly will be even more important for people to be able return. God bless you and yours, young, cheerful, joyful, faithful and hopeful people!
It sounds like what Laura experienced is a jansistic mentality and that has equated her personal experience as a "Trad" as the norm and therefore a blanket condemnation on being "traditional". There are two extremes I see in - Jansenism on the right and modernism on the left. Both are wrong and condemened by the church. Being truly a traditional Catholic is sitting right in the middle where the history of the church has always been. Love should be at the center of our faith and everything we do. Ones discipine in desiring to do prayer or penance should be driven by our love and appreciation for the grace and love we receive and not stricktly out of fear but that is a growth process for all of us to build in our lifetime. A traditional Catholic walking in the grace of God should live a life of mercy and love and that should be at the center with Christ at all times. I attend an FSSP parish and have friends in the SSPX and the Novus Ordo. There are balanced and wonderful souls in the SSPX, FSSP, and the NO. Again you can have Jansens on the one side of extremism (and even in the novus ordo) but it should not justify embracing modernism. Is there a recoveryfrommodernism site and conference scheduled too? I would argue that there is 100X more risk on that front then there is with Jansenism in traditional circles.
These two people, pray for their conversion. Why do they not speak of dogmatic theology, mysticism theology? why do they omit the Four Last Things? Why don’t they speak of the weakness of our bishops, priests and deacons? No, they won’t. They lack conversion. Disregard them. They have no idea of the future, of God, of heaven. They have abandoned their faith.
Where is the Paleocrat to publicly dialogue with Novus Ordo watch? He refused to go on a CatholicVS which is pro-Vatican 2 to dialogue with me. It might help to move the story farther, if the anti-trads didn't only talk to themselves.

Based isn't the same as traditional. Contextual flexibility on its own, isn't sin.

SSPX is a cult, stop defending them. They should just return back if they want to experience the true catholic faith.
