I’ve been making woodfired pizza for a little over a year and I live in NYC.Just watching his video has inspired me. Trust me that this style of pizza for me honestly trumps all the rest. It’s crispy, light, and packed with flavor. And it digests very well. Just from watching I suggest everyone take a trip to the Bronx!!
god that looks amazing. anchovies seriously don't get enough love. i ordered them on a pizza once at home in texas and it was so rare for them to use it they didn't know how-- threw on like 50 of them. covered the whole pie! was so salty it was inedible :D
I'm Greek, but I know that anchovies are like nature's MSG to Italians. They sometimes use it instead of salt, you can't even taste it but it makes a world of difference. Delicious stuff, much love and respect to our neighbors!
I believe he said "everything you cook IN South Italy, there's anchovies". Not "everything you cook INSULTS Italy" haha. I'm sicilian it makes more sense, considering we eat a lot of anchovies. Especially on pizza
That bit confused me too. Anchovy pizza is older than Margaritha pizza, as pizzas were made before tomatoes made it to Italy. And the flatbreads with anchovies on them were the most common in Italy, because anchovies were plentiful and cheap food that everyone both poor and middle class enjoyed. So much that it was brought from Italy to America, purely out of tradition. Even if it didn't sell as much with Americans, the Italian restaurant owners still offered it for other Italians and themselves to eat to feel at home.
Roberto's chill vibe is coming through loud and clear. I'm not a huge anchovy fan, but I do eat them. I'm driving to this joint next weekend. I like these dudes.
I live in Taranto, just 300km south from Naples, and 089's pizza looks (and likely tastes) at least ten times better than the ones you get here.
My favourite pizza is Anchovies, capers and olives. Not something I come across too often it's nice to see someone else saying that capers and anchovies go well on a pizza.
This pizza looks to die for, the owner is cool, so is the cook, the restaurant looks amazing, talk about the full experience, i'm glad this came out me and my wife are going to New York end of August so you guys just gave me a place i have got to go to, ty.
I'm from Salerno and this is absolutely correct. The Salerno style is a lil bit more crispier than the Napoli style. Anyway only seeing it, it's a really well made pizza. Trust this man!!!
Hey, do you have any personal recommendations for pizzerias in Salerno? Might be going there while I'm in Napoli for a bit just to try out their style.
My Grandmother on my Father's side made the best Pizza, no one makes it like she did. I'd love to try this authentic pizza...my mouth is watering! God Bless
I actually stayed in Salerno during a trip to Italy with my family. Didn't visit anything in town, just used it as a place to stay while we visited Pompeii, Paestum, and Amalfi. We DID however go to a really nice Pizza place though and it was one of the best pizzas I had ever had. We actually got 3 Pizzas, 2 Margarita and one other one... the name escapes me however.
One of the most singularly important quotes was left out of the captions of the video, unfortunately; it's a sentence that sums up precisely the inspiration, appeal, and reasons for continuing success of this and other types of old-school and reliably delicious foods: "Just peasant food, simple." at 3:44. This is a common refrain among immigrants, in my experience, that is rooted in humility, and is something to remember. Real food is passionate and authentic. This place looks great; thanks for the video, FWF.
OMG it looks soooo good. And if a place is run by a person who is a foodie, like this gentleman, who has good taste and hopefully can cook some to set the tone for the chef(s), you can't miss.
1:40 - Domino's makes crust just like he does(not straight out of the fridge-water salt flour and a little yeast-room temp), but with corn meal instead of flour on the table
@ⵜⴰⵏⵉⵔⵉ Taniri Oh yeah, that makes sense. Flour would have burned faster. Thanks mate! One day imma try it with flour though, see what kind of smokey flavour that imparts.
My favorite pizza is a Margarita with anchovies. Everyone thinks I'm weird, maybe Salerno is the way to go for me cause I can't live without anchovies on pizza.
Im going to oder the pizza 2:45 originally from Salerno. My fav pizza buddy comes from there, too. First we feast is very serious about pizza, baaaaam.
Why are the father's subtitles wrong? E.g. When he says 'more crispy' the subs are 'crispier'. I get that crispier is correct, but it's not what he's saying.
reading the "correct" subtitle actually makes it worse for the viewer because now you read the Roberto's filtered words through the editor's interpretation
Isn't it fair to say that the difficulty of understanding is something subjective? For example, to me this person's accent is not difficult to understand at all and I don't need the subtitles. Considering the subjective nature, the person writing the subtitle is probably better off correcting such things to avoid any kind of ambiguity.
A Lot of times he says "Ma" wich mean "but" in italian , the subtitles actually help if english is not your main language , sometimes is hard to follow the speech.
when i have an anchovies on my pizza i like them to bake the pizza first then add the anchovies. i think if u back the anchovies in to the pizza it is way to strong

I've eaten here, this place is money in the bank. Incredible pasta as well.

Nature's MSG! Lol, true.

I've found my spirit animal.
Agree, this is me.

My kinda pizza!
That bit confused me too.

Insult Italy was not what he meant to say. “In South( sout) Italy is what he meant to say. The auto generated subtitles didn’t pick that up.

Well i am from salerno , and the pizza in this video reminds me completely of the pizza we do around here. Great video
Jantor Janter bet he’s talking about trianon when he’s talking about a famous pizzeria in salerno

Salerno fa schifo, merdosi. Sapete solo copiarci. Napoli regna.
despicabledog era proprio necessario insultare così?
In Naples, you take the pizza, put it on your windowsill for half a minute and it's done.
in Russia you take the pizza, put it on your oven for half an hour and it still raw.
In Texas if you sit down the your butt will get branded by the asphalt. Then the ranches will claim you.
In California, you take the pizza, put it outside and HOLY SHIT ITS ON FIRE
in Massachusetts....you have no idea what the fuck to do because the weather is too bipolar.

The long lost afterthought of gennaro contaldos. Cento anni!
Simply Beautiful Story
Is this competition with munchies? I love it.
Good points, proof dough at room temp for 1 day and fresh but drained mozzarella. IMO a little salty Pecorino cheese too, just for added taste.
Never had a pizza like that in all my days. I would argue that I really have never experienced what true pizza is

Because subtitles are there to help the viewer understand what the speaker is trying/intending to say.

A recipe for that dough would be nice. 😉
1:02 I see this happening a lot... Why subtitle if you don't use the words that are actually said? Is there a reason for this?
I wish I knew a good place in LA for pizza's like this
Someday @firstwefeast will travel outside of NYC and LA to find new and different restaurants, but it is not this day.
2:44 that's the most attention marinara pizza got in last the 10 years, lol

America is coincidentally named after an Italian explorer, Amerigo Vespucci.
Any wonder why pizza is popular in America? :)
First we pizza..Let's have another pizza episode why not
Can you do trippie reed in wings that would be cool
Fresh or preserved anchovies?
Isn't this the place that was on RHONY last season where Dorinda and Sonja had a fight? Season 9 Episode 13.
"Wourder", DAMN, he reminds me of Brad...😂😂😂
Michael Berthelsen yeah dude his accent ITS ALIVE ;)
Daniel Thompson "bread, boader, and anchovies"😂😂😂😂
The subtitles don't match what he's saying.
Why are there even subtitles in the first place lmao
Yea the subtitle grammatically corrects what he says. You can just ignore it if you don't like reading that much.
Subtitles don't have to match, they should be easy to understand for the viewer, and in some cases shortened so that there's enough time to read them.
Cup Because that's not how subtitles work. Subtitles rarely match exactly what the speaker is saying. It's a whole science in itself.
@@Cup_70 Cause not everyone watching this video is a native speaker . And he speaks with a heavy accent. With subtitles its easier to understand.
first time I heard an italian talking about his father cooking and not his mother
